  2. drop some Redline lightweight into it, problem solved (not sure if it's a bandaid solution or not) but every single RB box has that same "notchy" feeling when using ordinary VMX80 manual fluid.
  3. sounds like too much exhaust back pressure, if you could externally gate this thing you would be able to add more boost (judging from the statements above)

Yes that's a method, however with it switched off I find from my personal, limited & road only tuning abilities you can dial in more timing with it switched off so then when you over lay it again the intersection point will shift again. I would say that it would be best switched off at maximum VE to reduce the need to pull out timing (this will be dependant on turbo too of course)
  5. why not feed your highflowed RB25 turbo with E85? isn't it already installed on your motor?

  8. yes and no, the gate cracks open a touch before it reaches its defined gate pressure (if you want to call it that) running an EBC and utilising both top and bottom ports can keep the gate closed a little longer giving you a flatter boost response, instead of gentle ramp I tend to like to let it spike a little and then the boost to settle, but that's just me

  11. ^ installed a GKTech fan on my friends S15 water temps are now higher not to mention there's less surface area on the GKtech fan, so in my head (minus all the theory and calculations) it would move less air than the stock fan.
  12. mod your stock heat shield and make a bracket to it mounts to the 2x bolts that hold the power steering reservoir in place.. I'm going to do that and make a cut out for my external gate.. should look "stock enough" and reduce chances of melting away cables
  13. ever seen a dim sim manifold with the wastegate flange on the opposite side of the collector? uncontrollable boost spikes
  14. totally agree, flow always takes the path of least resistance.. and fuark Scotty's gate job (that nearly sounds sexual) works a treat, I can set my boost to anything and I will only get a fluctuation of 0.02 bar at times from start to redline.
  15. Sounds like you've plumbed it wrong already When it's off it should only be gate pressure
  16. SET is how much boost you want GAIN simply put it, too much and boost will spike too little and it's lazy Newer Profecs also have the Start boost, which works similar to the GAIN if nothing is happening, you've plumbed it wrong
  17. ^ yes need the right thickness the VCT actually advances the cam itself, hence there's a notch it needs to sit on
  18. if you jiggle it you will feel there's a groove it goes into, I suggest you pull off the timing belt to get in into place once it goes into place then hold the cam with a wrench and torque up the nut.. it will then sit flush and allow you to put the spring/cover/seal on
