lol... or that! Tonight I would say is my proper 3rd time out there, the last time I went out was with All Jap Day and both sessions didn't have a good crack at it. Then when the track was clear and I was doing a good hot lap they ended the session early!!!!!!!

Getting ready to take out the shit box to SMSP, filled up 3x jerry cans and car has E20 or so in it at the moment. Also noticed last time I was out there, during All Jap Day (useless day to try attempt PBs on the timed sessions, too many numpties in your race line) I tried to take T8 in 2nd and blazed the tyres, also because the throttle was a bit too sensitive so I've dumbed down the pedal to TB table. Should help make the TB less sensitive when I'm trying to negotiate a turn.

I set the front ARB to the softest setting, assuming the 3kg in rate jump would make it understeer. Find out tomorrow night I suppose then next post is, "I did a thing, and tube framed the front" lol.

Very good info! Funny enough, I just did that for my shitbox, with 0 aero. Has 13kg(f) and 7kg(r) in it now, after the advice MCA gave me. Going out tomorrow to test it out, either I go slower or faster right? lol. Btw... your engine bay is mental, can't fit turbo? cut tub lol.

NZ R33 Long Term Build
Dose Pipe Sutututu replied to R3N3's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Not yet, a few things on my to do list, finding time/motivation is hard lol. I assuming this would need the brake input (also required for cruise), once I wire up the brake & clutch inputs I'll set it up as well. -

That's awesome! Yeah I saw your post, I suppose it's similar to closed loop boost control tuning. I haven't set mine up (ran out of inputs) so unable to provide any guidance. -
S15 Spec R

I have a solution, just convert the lot to R33 GTS-t or R34 GT-t brakes. OEM+ -

With the S15 rear calipers, did you compress the piston to install the pads or did you wind them in? -

Very unique car, don't see many of them! The fuel lid and the silhouette gave it away 🙂 Yeah bro, swap the brakes around lol. -

Cool looking car, the Sierra that is. Moar nudes of that please. -
Just Hankook RS-4 street tyres, I want to really feel the limits of the car and suspension before I put on better tyres. Of course I also need to improve my driving. Being of Asian decent, my DNA has been programmed to drive Toyota Camrys, so trying to steer a stern drive is always a challenge lol.

Yeah he's good, I just tell him what I'm using the car for and he recommends me things and I just say yes.

Shit box now ready, took it to Ian at Porter's Suspension. He knows his Nissan shit boxes very well. Front we could only get -3.3° after I raised it but that's more than enough for my amateur level of racing. Rear Ian suggested -1.5° is plenty, based on the tyre contact, said it's not even reaching the edges yet so there's no need to run too much as I'll have traction issues. Measured up the car, and my broscience and bromeasurements were pretty good. Driver side is about 3mm higher than the passenger side. Slight positive rake as well. Ian did mention it's rare you actually have people raising their cars for handling because everyone thinks slammed cars handle better but they don't. He said everything the way it is is great. Ended up with about 7° castor, and 3mm total toe out up front and 2mm toe in at the rear. Let's see if my rubbish driving can get the lap times down to the 1m50-55s bracket on street tyres.

From my limited reading, a RWD car will always compress the rear suspension when you're accelerating and/or maintaining speed. Say if your car had neutral rake when stationary, when it's moving the rake will change so the front is higher than the rear, i.e. negative rake. So by raising the rear ever so slightly, when the car is moving (accelerating to a point) you would have neutral rake. On hard launch, WOT down the straight that's a different story but into a turn you would assume the car is somewhat more neutral thus provide better turn in. All broscience. Happy to swap for a M3 F80

If I could turn back the hands of time, I would have just bought a 1.5 way Nismo. However the KAAZ 2-way came up for a good price and it was still in quite good condition so that was snapped up instead. With the 2-way, you get used to it around the circuit. It does disengaged however not on a hard decel.

I have an alignment booked in tomorrow to just correct the toe and camber all round as I've raised the car. Took your advice too, have added a tiny bit of rake into the car. Used a bit of broscience, took off the scuff plate on the driver side and put a spirit level on it. Slightly lower at the front.

LOL... The whole DCT or ZF sounds very tempting, however there's so much work involved. Popping in a gearset, which also means taller gearing would mean I don't need to swap out the diff ratios. If I was to go DCT or ZF, the 4.08 would be way too short. I'm heading out to SMSP on the 11th July, at night.

it's more of the shape of the unit, it really gets to me (very subjective I know, same can be said about the R33 it looks like shit and I agree - but at the time it was a "cheap" track car). I saw on the Haltech Tuning group on Facebook someone managed to design their own layout, let me find the post.

@DaymoR32 yeah nah lol... I think the next logical move is an OS Giken OR PPG Helical synchro gearset and this shit box is done. No more mods, just wire up my brake input, clutch, front wheel speed sensor and I am pretty much done. Might do a coolant pressure input too and have it to trim boost if coolant pressure gets a bit silly (good for track use). Maybe... do a digital dash. The Aim MXP does look good, I refuse to put in an IC-7.
