Thanks for all the support guys! a mate at work has a copy of a Light Vehicle Code of Practice for modifications, or somthing along those lines. anyway. we looked into it, (while getting payed at work for this too ) and figured out that it must be because since the hole has been made in a crumple zone, it has weakend it, so makes it crumple much more easily than before. and its ilegal to weaken the crumple zones, but you can make them stronger with out any problems. so if by same chance, i dont get passed for that reason, im going to get a metel plate with a hole in it, welded on that spot, to renforce the hole. anyway, im heading down to see how i will go with the blue slip tomorrow. oh and since i hace rego in like 1 week, if i had this blue slip, i wouldnt need a pink slip for rego then would i?
-
nar no epa.. got to get the defect cleared up, nazi cop said i had to take the FMIC off and weld up the whole.. then get a blue slip and so on.. blue slip is full car inspection aye? could they fail me for the exhaust pod (its enclosed) boost controler, and rims?
-
forgot to mention.. the reason why i am so peeved about this is that now i dont have the money to get my car regoed in a bit over a week (runs out then) . it will be a month till i can get rego and start to drive my car again

i had no idea that you were following me! what car were you driving? haha yep spotted you too

ok.. well, this is more a case of wrong place, wrong time, but anyway. coming back from work in north ryde, usaly go down via pymble and avoid epping road (too busy). but this time i went down epping road way, and unknown to me, i was in a T3 lane, and i was the only one in the car. i just so happens that alot of cops where parked in a side road and one of them steped out and pulled me over. i figure, yeh, just another RBT again, and he tells me ive goten pulled over for driving in a T3 lane with only me in the car.. i told him i never come this way home and usaly go via pymble, and i honestly did not know that it was T3 lane, but he ignored that and wrote me up for a $179 fine. next was the car inspection, as per usal, looking for another reason to fry my ass and try and get me off the road. he checks the car and so on, its all good from out side. pops the bonnet, and seems to be looking quite intently at the air box around the pod.. but he finaly says that it is ok as it is enclosed.. has a look at the FMIC for a little while and says its all ok, and tells me to close the bonnet. but just as i go to do that another older police man yells out, wait wait and comes walking over, quite grumpy and very angry at me for some reason. he looks at the front mount from the front, then looks at the pipes and says "failed". the way he said it seems like he was almost happy that he had got me for something. the reason why he defected me was because the pipe for the front mount goes over the fan and then out the side of the wheel guard, there had to be a hole cut for the pipe. it did not even touch the chassie rail at all, so as far as i knew, it was ok, but he defected me for it, saying that it changes part of the crumple zone and is not manufatured. he also went on to say that even if i had a small gromet hole there that wasnt stock, it was a defect. now i think that this is rather slack, as this has been done to just about every skyline which has a FMIC and ive had many cops look under the hood and be ok with that and not say that its a defect. what do you guys think?

yeh i remeber reading about that one a little while ago. its good that you got the money for the repair. GOOD NEWS .. ok i put the car up on car stands tonight and took the gear box out (man thats a b!tch isnt it), and found what i had hoped for! , nothing at all was broken. the fork that pushes the thrust bearing had come uncliped from the thing that holds the bearing and was stuck pushing the thrust bearing up against the clutch, casusing the clutch to slip, which also caused the fork to not return to its home posistion because it had also come dislodoged from the clip that holds it onto the pivit ball. i think i know why this had happend too now that ive seen what has happend. a week ago i had the clutch master and slave cylinder, and all ajoining pipes and hoses, reconditioned. and the result of that was a longer throw on the slave cylinder. this pushed the fork and the thrust bearing further than normal and the fork had slid off the thrust bearing as a result of that (i assume.. its the only thing that makes sence). im not going to even bother explaining it fully, too hard with out pictures and i couldnt be bothered crawling under the car again to take photos. so when i put it all back together tomorrow, im going to ajust the clutch pedel so that the pick up point is lower down so that it doesnt push the fork as far anymore now assuming that was all that was broken, and is now fixed up, ill be puting the car back together and be driving by tomorrow night :P sorry guys, i jumped to conclusions here with assuming that the pressure plate had failed.. but everything that it was doing showed this.. sliping clutch, snaping feel on the pedel (which was just the fork sliping off). and the clutch fork staying pushed in. but thankfuly it wasnt what i thought it was.
-
yeh.. ill have a look.. i hope its just the clutch.. where am i ment to pick up a new pivit ball from? and how much do they usaly cost?
-
i havent taken it to the drags or done any masave burnouts (tyres cost too much) . but its not like a had been thrashing it at all.. thats why im so shitty about it, ive never put it through anything that would result in the clutch failing like this
-
oh the last car wasnt mine, lol.. and ive seen it b4.. also another guy on the forum here has had his pressure plate collapse b4. i helped him change the clutch and when we took it out, all the rivits had pushed through the back of it.
-
i was saying that suing was sujested. ill give the guy a call tomorrow to see what he says.. and if im not happy with the responce and he isnt going to do anything about it, ill contact the department of fair trading to see where i stand. ive felt a pressure plate break b4.. this stinks of the same thing. the car had been parked in the shops car park for a while, and it broke when i was still in the car park. i was not pushing the car at all.
