sorry for the thread jacking but.... GTS-t VSPEC: Did you go direct to Wiseco or is there someone local that stocks them?? cause I'm building a CA18 at the moment and wouldn't mind chasing some forgies up again. Wiseco sure is damn good stuff!! I've used their bike pistons before but last time I chased up there catalogue they didn't have a listing for any Nissan pistons so I didnt look any further and all the others I tried - APEP, Arias, JE & Cosworth were close to $2000 cheers
-
GTS-t V-SPEC: Yeah I spose talking piston weights is a bit "how longs a piece of string" they vary that much between each engine and each piston maker. I was thinking CA18DET when I said it, doh, I didn't realise it was SR20....I went thru chasing up forgies for my CA18 and all the forgies I could afford (under $2000) were heavier than stock, the dearer forgies were light but expensive cause of all the machining to make them I guess. As for piston coatings i'd be checking to see how long the coating is meant to last before it wears thru....I've used them before (not HPC) and found the coating worn thru after only a few 1000km. OK in a race engine but money down the drain in a street engine Cheers

Don't waste your money on forgies unless you plan on making BIG horsepower. Standard cast piston are strong enough for most applications and are nice and lite.

ford falcon stud pattern 5 x 114.3 same as nissan 5 stud holden commodore stud pattern 5 x 120 Have physically tried it myself, holden wheels wont fit!! also even though ford has the same stud pattern just about every generation falcon has different offset and centrebore. The only one I know is AU falcon is close to GTR offset, EA is no where near it.

forget the pursuit rims, now that chrome is cool again get some 12 slotters!!
-
Won't fit, wrong stud pattern.

As with most mods, it depends who you see for a RWC and which person you get at VicRoads when you rego the car, I went thru chasing up if I could put one of those Japanese style roll cages in my GTR. There main concern with that type of cage is that it doesn't follow the A-piller all the way to the dash (and then thru the dash) so depending on which angle you look at the a-piller it can be said that it obstructs your view ?? The Vic roll cage rules are open to interpretation so just hope you don't get a ball breaker. In the end I found out that there not CAMS legal so I didn't bother...

NDR: thats thrown a spanner in the works, I thought they both had the good jap struts ??? but I don't really know. I'm basically after R31 struts that have caliper mounts that are 100mm centres so I can bolt on 300zx calipers. Am I heading dow the right track ??? any info would be appreciated !!
-
I'm after a set of struts from an Australian ( not sure if jap model was the same) R31 GTS, any condition anywhere !!
-
I'll buy it if you've still got it, check PM
-
The r32 was a GTR, you could see the front wheels lite up in one of the spins. My GTR has no badges as well....I know what it is !!

I've used it for years in superbikes and also in 500cc MX bikes......never had any dramas as long as I didn't use than more than 30%. I don't think there is any thing perculiar to Turbo/EFI cars that would cause a problem. Other additives can make rubber hoses and plastic components brittle over time, alcohol in particular, but I've had no problem with Tolulene/Methyl-Benzene..
-
BOOSTMEISTER : I ran up to 50% at one stage but started running in to problems on cold/rainy days, it was a very high comp NA engine and it would blow condensation out the exhaust even when engine was red hot, I contacted Shell tech department and they recommended 30% as a max mixed with avgas.
-
Its a couple of years ago, but the cheapest way I found to by it was direct thru a Shell dealer, at the time (about 5 years ago) it was cheaper for 20l of methyl-benzene than 20l of avgas beacause methyl-benzene is classed as a solvent and not a fuel so it does'n't have the huge government taxes on it. If you ask at a servo they'll just give you a stupid look, try performance shops or even Truck parts retaillers... i found them the cheapest and there used to supplying in bulk.

I thought those holes were there to feed $100 bills into the engine bay to make the car faster!!!

ndr : PROCAR have already evaluated the competiveness of the "All Japan GT" GTR's and Supras etc thats why they have announced that these cars can enter !! The 24 hour race is meant to be a proper open race using established international classes not just a contrived "Nations Cup" formula.
-
It was with SEAT but it was only a media promo drive just like Biaggi in the Ferrari and Mick Doohan in the Williams, not real test drives. He'll still be in Moto GP next year, but it would be good to see him stick it to the car boys in the future !!
-
PROCAR has released the eligibility schedule for the PROCAR 24 Hour at Bathurst on 16/17 November and in Group 1 they allow "ALL Japan GT cars" !!! We can only hope the factory teams from Japan enter, would be awesome to see the factory GTR's and Supra's running around the mountain !!!
-
Yeah tried Steve already, he has the build details for all GTR's but still doesn't know the exact serial numbers that came here and Nissan OZ won't give out the information.
-
Hey guys I'm chasing the following parts without much luck, if anyone can help let me know left front lower control arm, splash tray and brake ducts, radiator overflow bottle, right reverse light, right/front inner guard
-
Does anyone know what the range of serial numbers were for the Australian delivered R32 GTR's ???? I know someone listed them on SDU once but I cant find it anywhere !!

I'm hooked on MAME, love playin all those old games, Scramble,Moon Patrol, Rally X. If there are any other MAME heads on here, does anyone have the ROM for "10 Yard Fight". None of the sites that allow downloads at the moment have a working copy so if anyone has it I'd be rapt if I could get a copy of it. Love Street Rod....it got me thru years of computer science classes
