Alot of the early Japanese drag Gtr's had modified stock plenums with vh45 tb's. I was always under the impression it was for ease of tuning.
I haven't seen much in the way of intake trickery done with rb's.... jenvey style updraft centre entry manifolds, experimentation with different intake angles (apex v-max and the hks drag gtr's), exploring split 2x3 intake manifolds, variable length runners etc
Maybe try and find a cheap greedy knockoff, build a spacer plate that's as wide as you can get to fit for a bit of extra runner length, build a bias set trumpet arrangement and whack a vh45 Tb on the front... see what happens?
