Broken Transfercase! @ 7km/h
XRATED replied to XRATED's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Genuine Matic D. Yeah... I've never seen it either. It was a stock box. Dose anyone have a parts breakdown picture with part numbers? Cheers J. -
Check this out. Broken transfer case chain... snapped and punched through the casing at 7 km/h. Dose anyone have a breakdown parts diagram/picture of the transfer case? Has anyone ever seen this? Are there any common faults to look for? Car specs: 33 GTR- 860 odd bhp, stock box/case, 2.6 forged with a single billet precision turbo and supporting mods. Street tyres, some spirited driving and lots of dyno time (box number 3). Any advice or the parts break down diagram would be great. Cheers Justin

What's A "better" Turbo Upgrade For A Greddy T67?
XRATED replied to 9krpm's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Dude... you've got all the cool toys!!! How the hell are you getting 300kw to the ground??? I've been in a few lightly boosted ( one was wide body ) S2K's in Florida... Whith reasonable tread, it was just wheel spin city!!! Ha ha ha love it. Speaking of ball bearings, billet turbochargers can re-core you T67 with they're "special" ball bearing core... a TD turbo was around 1300bucks, so I imagine a T67 would be similar. Cheers Justin -
Hey Dan, your set up would be the perfect test bed.... It's stout enough to push any of these turbo's to the limit. I just had a very interesting conversation with a custom turbo manufactuer in the US. He said he could copy almost any comp wheel design and machine it from billet. Also, depending on the turbo, he can re-core with ball bearings. He's just a guy in a workshop who re-builds large diesel turbos mostly... ha ha ha what a find! Veeeeery interesting.. Billet, BB Trust turbo???

I'd like to see that test too.... T618Z V's GT-RS

Are you buying boxes in bulk? ha ha ha -
3rd Gear Transmission Failure
XRATED replied to 33GTRV's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah... it happens. Don't bother with a dog box, expensive and you'll hate it in 2 weeks... if your not going to push much more hp then just get a replacment box, or re-build yours with a scyncro os gearset. I have a ppg helical box in my gtr... I love it! But i'm running around on sticky tyres and 400+rwkw, using the car for mostly drag racing ppg gear set is worth about 7k plus parts and labour to fitt. -
Wow... I've been working on this turbo selection for a while "28 June 08- start of thread" ha ha ha. It's still basically comming down to T618Z's Vs GT-RS's Vs 6cm TD06S L2 ... Or an 8lt V10 Viper motor and twin 88mm turbo's...

How Much Rwkw For What 1/4 Mile Time.
XRATED replied to Stealthynsa's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
My experience. 400kw, full weight R32 GTR... Mid 10sec @ 138mph Dude, you know there is so much more to drag racing than just hp....??? A torquey V8 with a well set up auto and suspension could easily siht allover a hard suspension, manual peaky import with more hp... Alot more consistant too. Power to weight+ traction+power delivery FTW!!! If you want to get around you uncle in your 33, ur going to spend alot of cash brother. I'd estimate 360+rwkw, gooood tyres, gearset/auto, some susp set up and lots and lots and lots of practice at the track to be consistant. -
Hey Paulie.... you are right. Results on the track speak louder than dyno sheets or opinion. It's hard to deny. You'll have to pm me with your "secret recipie" for running good numbers with GT-RS's... ha ha ha Has anyone seen/had any experience with twin TD06S L2 6cm turbos on a RB26/28??? I know it's a little far from "responsive" but it would be interesting. J. BTW. The origional post is inccorect, I have an HKS step 2 2.8 kit now... Not that it matters.

You do bring up some valid points.... There dose seem to be some comprimise for higher hp "standard position" turbo's. Exh and comp housings have size limitations, waste gate size limitation.. I don't see myself going to a single, however I'm now exploring mid size top mount, external gate options.

I emailed the manufacturer: "Dear mace_engineering_group, Is there any plan to manufacture these for rb26? I'm shure you guys have done your testing, but there are coolant passages that run through the rb25 manifold... thus the manifold temps will stay close to the coolant temp. The rb26 intake manifold dose not have any coolant passages so your product may yield better results. Just an oversilmplified observation. Cheers Justin" "Dear xratedgtr, Would love to, however we have a lot of other engineering developments on the go plus we're down and engineer The main reason why these spacers work is that they lengthen the runners and not so much from a cooling perspective (though it certainly does help), which is why they still work well on RB25's In saying this though I'll put you on the interest list. Kindest Regards, Steve" Take from that what you will...

Is This A Good Combination For A Streetable Neo
XRATED replied to TriniGT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
US Ebay is your friend for skylines. I'm in florida... and I just bought heaps of gear here, then sent it home. The prices are so much cheaper for most things... Hell I bought 2 N1 oil pumps new for 140 each!!! US spec turbo was better quality for the price than you can buy anywhere in Aus Fuel gear, AFM's, gaskets etc... all cheaper, even considering the exchange rate and shipping costs. -
Is This A Good Combination For A Streetable Neo
XRATED replied to TriniGT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey buddy. Call Jeff at Marine International Diesel (MIDI) in Ft Lauderdale florida (tell him justin sent you). He's a Precision Turbo dealer. He also runs around the carib/islands alot. I just bought a PT5557B for under 1k. It's rated at 550 odd hp, garret based, billet comp wheel, T3 flange, V band dump flange, external gate turbo... Great value!!! Jeff also has a MEAN R33GTR with a large Precision Turbo.... awsome! You can always mod the manifold to fitt up the turbo and/or wastegate. -
Got To Play With My Favorite Turbos Today, But X2 On A 2jz
XRATED replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Have you had a chance to throw the 8 cm housings on the 2J and tune it again? Do the 6cm, 8cm and 10cm all bolt up to the same TD06SL2? How would you expect a pair of 6cm ex housing TD06sL2's to go on a 2.8lt 26 as apposed to a pair of T618Z's??? That car will be a real handfull to drive on power.... lots and lots and lots of fun. Cheers Justin -
Manifold insulating gaskets are popular with the honda tuning scene in the US for years. One of the big US honda aftermarket companies Hondata produce them for JDM and USDM honda engines... maybe rb's too?? Good to see an Aussie company having a go!
-
Shure it's possible... anything is possible. It'd be very time consuming and expensive to get a workshop to do. If you have to do it, buy a wrecked GTR, sell the engine and use all the parts/floorpan from it. OR Buy a GTR then cut the B pillars, c pillars and rear guards out and weld in the 4 door pillars/supports and doors??? Assuming the 4 door has the same/similar roof line to the coupe. OR Buy a 4wd gts-4 4 door and transplant the GTR running gear into it OR Don't bother and just buy better rear tread.

Cam Choice For A Track Orientated R32
XRATED replied to «Cyph3r»'s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'm planning to use a set of 260deg pon cams initially, then change to a set of 270 10.5mm. The head has 1mm OS valves, springs/retainers, port work and tomei buckets. I will be running down the road of a stroker with low mounts. If anyone has them, I'd love to see the reults of different cam/turbo combinations. Cheers Justin -
Best Rb25 Turbo Upgrade For Drifting
XRATED replied to Cr@zY FreD's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Have a look at precision turbo, in the US. They have plain and bb cores, not water cooled, v-band dump, billet comp wheels, 3inch or 4 inch inlet etc good pricing too. I just bought a PTB5557... I think they're around 875is USD retail. You'd need a custom oil line ($40), custom dump with a v band flange ( v-band flange and 2 mandrel bends, like $100 tops), 2" 90 degree silicone elbow ($40), 38mm external w/g ($240) and stock manifold mods ($150 odd). Just another option... J.
