11-sec Gt-r. How Would You Build One ? Need Advice!
XRATED replied to robots's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
freshen up the stock motor with a good oil pump, cryo the crank and hpc coat the stock pistons.... then get it ballanced! Run a good exh and any steel wheel turbos. 044 intank pump, clean stock inj and a nismo FPR. Get your stock computer re-tuned for the new set up or a PFC. Good single plate clutch, good lube in the gearbox. High 11's on decent tyres shouldn't be a problem. Want occasional 10's?? Install a N20 kit and get it tuned properly, no more than 150hp or your combustion pressures start getting to high for your stock pistons. -
18000-25000 rpm is the upper working range of the larger units I've worked with. Helicopters probably more... Y2K less.
-
I'm fairly shure the y2k was a direct shaft drive through a reduction gear (2 speeds- faster and stoopid fast) with some style of "buffer" or "slipper" clutch... Tanks are either multi geared (auto trans) direct drive, or hydraulic pumps and motors driven from the turbine and choppers are either direct drive or the turbine drives a generator that creates DC power to drive an electric motor coupled to the blades.

R32 Gtr Parts Sydney
XRATED replied to aussierb30's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Interested... any picks? -
Well there are two main ways of doing it. You can connect a shaft directly to the rotating center of the jet turbine and feed it through a huge reduction gear or you can use the outbound trust to turn a "windmill" feeding a smaller reduction gear. The yachts I work on, some have jet turbines, they're great! little maintainance, produce masive amounts of HP in a very small package.... great for getting your 600gt 200+ft yacht to do 40+knots (and engine room fires!) and they run on straight diesel! As for an automotive application, I would use it in conjunction with your piston engine. Use a "windmill" connected to a reduction grear, to an electromagnetic cluch arrangment, drive shaft, feeding a modified gearbox... hmm Hell you could probably have a go at feeding the power to the front drive transfer case on a GTR gearbox... for a laugh! Help Me Decide Which Turbos For A Street/track Setup Gtr
XRATED replied to BoostdR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Sorry... I'm in Italy atm. A looong way from home ( and my car ). They were great little turbs, pulled hard when they came on..... they were on the border for street driving though around the twisties in Tassie, so for a street car I'd definatly recomend the 8cm versions. I'll be going a set of gtrs's on a 2.8kit with a big ported head and cams. I'm also considering custom exh mans whith small external gates and a garett non internal wastgate housings..... But for a 3lt w_ big cams and head work I'd go a set of T618Z's on matched, tubular manifolds. And the matching set of trust dump pipes.... I picked up 22rwkw with them as opposed to a set of ported HKS copy dumps and down pipes. -
Help Me Decide Which Turbos For A Street/track Setup Gtr
XRATED replied to BoostdR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I had a pair of T517Z 10cm's on a bone stock 2.6- made 393rwkw on pump 98 @ 22psi. Party was on at around 3600rpm and pulled hard all the way to 9000rpm (he he he). I ran mid 10's on them. -
Cheers for all the input guys. I might look into GT-RS's then. I don't really fancy a big top mount. Even though they look sweeeet! Mr DGarage, I remember reading somwhere that you run "modified" GT-RS's. Was that for response or for more top end??? who did them? Do you have a dyno sheet posted up anywhere I can have a quiz at? Cheers Justin
-
Cheers Johnny.... but the key here is response.
-
Ok chaps, it's like this..... I have an R32 GTR, I have run 10.6@138mph in full street trim (full exh, street tyres, soundsystem pump fuel etc)... and I wan't to go faster BUT retain the same, if not better response for the street and track. I'm looking for low 10's in full street trim. I don't wan't to sacrifice weight or suspension, or upping the gas..... more power is my only option. Previous set up: stock rb26 (still quite healthy) 396rwkw, T517Z 10cm's, 260 poncams, PFC, fuel syst, 50hp shot of N2O- at the track only NOT on the dyno, R3C and ppgdogbox, plus all the usual supporting mods... I ran on BFG street drag radials. I have in stock, Tomei 2.8lt stroker kit, N1 block, ported head, 272 HKS cams etc.... What would YOU use for a turbo kit, maximising response on 98ron fuel, with a total power output around 450-460rwkw... I love my T517Z's but they were running 22psi flat out at 396rwkw. Cheers Justin

Thanks, that was what I was was looking for. Is that price from nissan Japan, converted to AUD? I'm sorry I wasn't aware that the costs were so well known.... Also, I wasn't asking about shipping... I'm well aware of the costs to purchase and secure a container then freight it. As for what I do with it.... My boss has two race teams, he's looking to retire an old M3 (2006) and asked me to look into a few things for him, as he knew I was into my Skylines and racing. I work internationally as a yacht engineer, my boss is American... so no, not a race team in Australia. At that cost for replacment essential parts, it will start to look viable as compared to campaining another BMW.... Cheers Justin (currently south of france)

Has anyone investigated the possibilities of importing an R35 drive line yet??? Seriously? Engine and transaxle. No electronics etc.... If your a parts importer with any relevant information.... feel free to pm me. Cheers Justin.

Ha ha ha ha. Well daaaa! Thats why you don't use a generic nitrous solinoid.... there are plenty of purpose built electronic delivery systems out there that use either a specially designed flow/delivery valve or purpose built multistaged solinoids that work together. I used a venom kit on a mates 240sx just recently in the US. It was great, even though it was a little old. You could program the delivery time.... so you could have it all in one big hit, or have it ramp up slowly, similar to a turbo comming on boost. .... now I'm in La Ciotat France. NOOO one has nitrous here! So I still say GAS!
-
mmm... it will happen. Staged electronic nitrous controll to "soften" the charge. Low ish boost levels to keep the max cylinder pressures under controll. Individual injection per cly with propper distribution blocks and large duty cycle solinoids. Maybe even a seperate fuel system with methanol??? Could make for an interesting 8 sec lowmount car?

Go with giggle gas buddy... It was a great trade off for me for drag racing. I was running a bone stock rb26 bottom end with a pair of T517Z's at nearly 400rwkw... sans gas. but at the track Í'd hit up a 50hp shot. It was great to launch with!!! It cooled my inlet charge and most of all allowed me to run mid 10's easily with a very streetable/small turbo package. So I had the best of both worlds... small turbo's for corners fun and a very fast straight line car.
-
Hey fabes. Interested in a trade in plus cash? I saw the wheels out at mobile mechanics.... they look good. Give me a call as I'm in town for another week or so. Justin 0409507120
