  1. As a generalisation, Docomo have best coverage then AU then Vodafone. I went with AU because they had a phone that I liked. Had a good camera, and was a little smaller than some others. Prices are pretty reasonable, obviously depends on how much you use it. Also I don't know about other carriers but u can use C-mail with AU. Its like SMS, cheaper and smaller than an email, but can only send to other AU people. Also check things like english to japanese dictionary on phone. As well as English dictionary with predictive text. My phone does not have predictive text, so it takes a little longer to type mail. But for the translator you can use an online one, Tango Town is what I use. BTW my phone is a W41CA.
  2. Not sure about Hotels specifically but there's heaps in Tokyo so you'll be sure to find one close by. Make sure to book in advance, they often fill up fast, and can change even from day to day. For instance you may only be able to stay 3 days at one hotel and have to move somewhere else for another 3 days. Thats if you don't book. As for Osaka to Tokyo, can take a shinkansen (bullet train), about 2-3 hours and about 10,000 ($120AUD) How did you book your ticket? I checked the Jetstar site but they wouldnt let me book online.
  3. hey all. I`ve been in Japan almost 2.5 months (newbie). Came over to check out the culture and see the country. Got interests in Anime and hopin to take an R34 GTR home with me. Was working in a cafe/bar in Roppongi. Just landed a job teaching English (one year contract) in Maizuru (tiny country town), but its ok so far (first week). Was almost gonna head home, but the pay was too good to pass up. and rents damn cheap out here (for Japan). If any other members know or have access to any good auctions I`d appreciate the help, also if anyone wants to catch up or go for a drive i`m always up for it. See ya.
  4. I'm going to Japan next week. Hoping to stay for a year. Was also hoping to purchase a car over there and bring it back as a personal import (R34 GTR if i can afford it, if not then GTT). Has anyone done this before? Any problems along the way? Anything in particular I have to do before I leave? Any hidden costs that often get overlooked? Anything else I need to know? Appreciate any and all help. Thanks.
  5. Currently got an Astra 2.2. Runnin Hankook K104 sport's on it. They're pretty good, I can still take em to their limits around a few corners, but not sure if it the tyres or the car (it's a sporty astra, but its still an astra). Gettin a R32 GTS-T next week *fingers crossed pre-purchase inspection goes ok* Lookin to get some new wheels and tyres for it. Possibly some Konig Trouble rims in 18x8 ($425/each). And lookin at maybe some Toyo T1-R's If anyone is interested in prices. 265/35ZR18 97Y - $495 225/40ZR18 87Y - ???? 265/40ZR17 96Y - $420 235/45ZR17 97Y - $320 Will prob get the 265/35 18's on the rear and 225/40's on the front. Does that sound like a good setup? Are those prices ok? I'm gettin a call back on a package deal with the wheels and tyres all from one place.
