  1. All that cleanliness and shininess paid off as the DR won best classic at the show and shine She is not perfect yet, still have a few little things to finish off before i will be totally happy.
  2. Im in Pymble. You cant miss me either in a Black MPS6 Zoom Zoom with Raven plates or the DR30 (not very often though as she is a bit of a garage queen.)
  3. PM me with an idea for going from this: to something like this: I would not look to be doing a ton of chrome basically respraying the engine bay to body colour, hiding the worst of the wiring, respraying the intake and cam covers, bit of colour matching.
  4. After the DR30 won best classic at the Show & Shine I have felt inspired to attack the next the item on the agenda which is the engine bay. In the old days I would attack something like this myself but with 2 kids, busy job and generally no time, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for good place that could do the following for me (preferably northside of Sydney) 1. Clean up and respray the engine bay (will probably require the removal of the engine to do it properly). 2. Do a small tidy up and some hiding of unnecessary wires etc cheers
  5. Look forward to it. Check PM.
  6. Nice one Dennis...yes I am still alive and havent forgotten about the badge. In fact I brought the Pioneer speakers with me to the show and shine on Sunday when I entered the DR30.Here some photos (scroll down the page) and you will see it http://www.transelite.net/sns%2007%20html/index_7.htm ...I just forgot to let you know before hand. I have been flat out like a lizard drinking. I will PM you later to try and tee up another time. cheers
  7. I agree, great day. Big thanks to the organisers. Was thrilled to win Best Classic and will be back next year after some more restoration work on the car. Great thing about cars and houses, they are never really finished cheers Steve DR30XX
  8. sorry I used the wrong qoute in the above post before. this post has the right quote. I would love any photos you ahd of my DR30..cheers
  9. I would love to see some photos..I was the guy in the Dr30 with the plates DR30XX.
  10. I dont know what it is about these cars but they are just something special. I used to own a HR30 Paul Newman, sold it and have owned some exotics since that time. However, after finding a nice DR30 last year I just had to have it! I have done a few things to it but have a couple to go but it is a car I love, turns head, is good fun for minimal investment. I will be at the Skylines show and shine on July 1. Come and say hi. I will be the joker with the silver DR30 (DR30XX plates)
  11. That blue one (if that is the one you were referring too) was not exactly mint. The interior was butchered, the fuel tank had cut up and replaced with a fuel cell. It did however have a great FJ20 and suspension setup. As a modified one goes it was not too bad but the real value in DR30's is for good original cars (perhaps with some small modifications) rather than attempted drift cars.
  12. I wonder if the owner will now be wrecking it for parts?
  13. Got it today...cheers.

  15. These are the rear seats in the DR (RS spec).
  16. I also used to have a Paul Newman HR30 which Zeb now owns and I think is currently selling.
  17. Thanks for the compliment,,BTW Orion's DR looks awesome as well. Stock except for a catback exhaust, the Volk GTP's and Alpine/Clarion system (I also have some other audio gear I might put in it later). It also has Adjustable Bilstein suspension and cusco adjustable strut tops although it is on full height etc at the moment. I have been slowly bringing things back to original condition (interior mainly) and sorting out the little problems old cars have. My big challenge at the moment is to find matching front seats as I have a RS-X passenger (red/black) and RS drivers (pure red) seat. As for space I regularly have my 4 & 5 year old kids in the car in their booster seats and there are no problems with space. The boot is also suprisingly roomy and mine has the split fold rear so it is very practical. The kids love the car and constantly want to go in it in preference to my Audi which is my daily driver. cheers
  18. Sounds good. How about $17.50 all up? PM me your bank account details and I will then PM my address. I am in Sydney.
  19. ANy chance of a rear demist switch?
  20. I reckon you couldnt get a good one in Oz for under 10 grand unless there was a desperate seller. I havent seen a really good one (except mine ) or a bad one that matter for a long time. With the resurgence of interest in historic group A racing in this country I can only see the values go up as younger fans appreciate the cars as well as us older folk who remember seeing them in their heyday. I reckon this also applies to Starions, 635 CSI Bimmers etc. As I sit here typing this at work I can see my nice framed picture of Glenn Seton/George Fury at Bathurst in 1986. I took some photos of DR's at the muscle car masters last year. and one of my car for good measure... As for buying one the only DR30 I have seen for sale in a long time is this non iron mask one in Qld http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/priva...matchallpartial
  21. I will pull it out and have a look on the weekend. I suspect the switch is the problem. I will let you know how I go.
  22. Guys, I have been gradually doing bits and pieces to the DR and now have evertthing working electrically except the rear demist. I change the fuses and so as I click on the rear demist the fuses blow. Any ideas. Do you think it is a short in the wiring (i.e it is damaged somewhere in the loom and shorting out) or maybe the relay is stuffed? Any help would be appreciated. cheers
  23. Owning a DR30 I obviously would recommend one of these. They are certainly more "raw" than a Hr31 and a lot lighter and potentially quicker. They are probably more expensive than an equivalent HR31 though with a good DR30 probably worth around $10k and a HR31 of the same standard around $8k. However a GTS-R would be $15k plus. The FJ20 is a noisy rattly thing but that is part of the charm. They also have heaps of potential. The one disappointment you will find with a DR is the steering, not that responsive and being a recirculating ball unit they will never have the accuracy of the rack & pinion units of later cars. Parts (interios, panel etc) are also a lot harder to find for a DR although there are no real dramas getting stuff for the FJ20. Both good cars though and I wouldnt mind a GTS-R to park next to my DR30. cheers
  24. Can you post some pics of these or PM to me. cheers
  25. Is for the passenger or drivers side? Do recaro's fit on the bride rails? cheers
