Air con on or off.?

Yeh I should have said within the capacity of the ecu's parameters
-
Hi 2G's. I got it from Justjap. it was in a half cut. It is a trust . I had to grind some of the metal bumper bar away so it would fit in. The thing I like about it is it looks like a standard series1 from the outside and in the engine bay

I would be very surprised if anybody can tell the difference between 98 ron and 100ron on any given day.No two days have the same temps and also barimatric pressures.Research Octane Number is a fuels resistance to knocking and pinging. Motor Octane Number is a fuel"s drivability. It is a lower number than RON.Oil companies have agreed with the Fed Govt to increase the use of ethanol. Manildra is the main supplier of this . It is a byproduct of their wheat processing for the food industry.Mind you any fuel with ethanol should be cheaper to buy as it cost way less to produce and hasn't got the taxes and duties that crude oil has.The car companies don't want more than 10% because with the standard ecu this is all that they can guarentee won't hurt the motor or fuel systems. Ethanol tends to promote the absorbtion of water in the tank. this cause problems in lines and injectors.Nissan's with their ecu and sensors will adjust for the different fuel's rons. A denser fuels gives more power , that's why Shell advertise it that way, but being denser tends to slightly richen up the mixture.Sorry Beeble lighter is not more power. Most of the threads here are too simplistic. Crude and it's distillation and the production of Gasoline is extremely complex We don't just use 1 crude at a time it is always a mixture of up to 5-6 different crudes so we can get different specs for Jet Fuel , Diesel ,etc. Also availability and what time of the year it is as specs change in summer and winter. Our dyno testing is carried out in climate contolled laboratory. The oil companies have special licences for all these specs. If We put out to market fuel that doesn't meet fed govt specs we would be in the shit.Shell extreme is basically as said here. 98 ron with 5% ethanol. I think you will find most companies will follow this soon. Also this helps boost ron with the removal of Benzene from 01/06

Hey Espo. That is not a great intercooler .I have a Trust one that uses the original layout of pipes so the engine bay looks standard. Did you get that one for free or something? be very careful withit.
-
Hey Jago. just a quick question. How long is that inlet system you have?is that custom?
-
your Mines ecu doesn't control your boost.Boost is contolled by your turbosmart contoller. I run 14psi with my mines ecu and I have no trouble with pinging etc .My factory solenoid is also blocked off. Have a good look at everything, etc plugs , afm, filter, leaking hoses . remember use the KISS method for these things. It's usually a simple thing causing a problem

R33 Auto Aftermarket Ecu Suggestions
kimbod replied to dangerman4's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have a mines ecu for my r33gts-t 5 speed. I can't speak more highly of it.runs leaner where the standard ecu have it over rich and pours more in at the top end.Got better economy when puttering round town as well -
I may have one. It is an undectectable detector. It can be used in my bike leather jacket. It's on my person. Traffic cops don't check on your body. Highway patrol and general duties operate under different laws.It picks up lazer as well as the normal bands.

Rb25 Turbo Upgrade, All Dyno Results
kimbod replied to Nacho Vidal's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ok. 4 door R33 5sp man 14lb boost with sua forum boost controller 3inch dump . standard from cat back unifilter ramtube and pod filter. 98 ron vortex trust fmic Mines ecu quick dyno with no cooling blower or strapped down standard horsepower when I got it was 164rbhp -
Talk to Darron or Tony at Justjap at Kirrawee. They will help you with clutches.

I got one of the first GFB bov's. GFB used my car for the manifold plate. I have a plumb back one . It does make a slight bit of noise due to my filter and ram tube. Some cars handle dumping to atmos better than others. Remember this air being dumped to atmo has been through the AFM ,and the ecu has calculted the mixture.I think somebody told me you should use plumb backs on Skylines because of this.

Throttle Response - Dump Pipes & Hi Flo Cats
kimbod replied to NISGTS's topic in General Maintenance
The bigger the better. You are trying to get the gases away from the turbine outlet as quick as possible. If the dump pipe has seperation of the exhaust and waste gate streams , even better. Look at how much you want to spend and how you use your car and take it from there. -
Before you go any further just be clear with yourself that you weren't speeding. Now Radar and lazer ARE NOT INFALLABLE as the cops want you to think. Other cars nearby especially at night, signs , distance away from their speed recording device. You can find some helpful things on the web on how they work etc. If you want to fight it I put my son onto Mark Stenburg at Hornsby. He specialises in this stuff.

I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
kimbod replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I am extremely happy with my boost controller. Chucked the turbosmart one away.Initially when I put it on it didn't hold the boost as well as i thought it should. I made a few enquries. I pulled off and plugged the lines fron the factory solenoid and removed the plug from it as well. The boost rises quickly to 15 psi and drops only back to 13psi, not 8-9. -
I guess this shows that fuel from differing companies do vary. The government says what the RON should be and there is a plus or minus fiddle factor. Also winter fuel has a higher RVP or DYPE to make your car easier to start. Of course in summer this is reduced so you don't have problems on hot days.Though govt regs are lowering these to cut back on the smog levels. As you can see in the states of Australia the fuel will differ because of which refinery made it. The other thing to remember that denser fuels tend to make you car run a bit richer. The higher the RON or MON the higher it's resistance to knocking. Hi octane fuel in a car that doesn't have the sensors that our skylines have[ knock sensors, etc] will have no increase in performance . I guess the water problem is one of those things that happens. service station tanks get condensation in them, etc.I won't use Mobil 1 oil because i bought a 5 litre container from Big w a few years ago and luckily I notice it had a lot of water in it. I rang the Mobil help line . They couldn't explain it.
-
Not sure if anybody would be allowed to buy it. Companies can of course. During the Turbo days Ferrari's fuel supplier[i think ELF] would add an amount of water to the fuel . They had little mixers in the tank to keep it in suspension This helped with keeping the engine alive . Little motors with BIG horsepower. If my old senile mind is right BMW"s 4 cylinder would have a qualifing BHP of around 1500-1700hp

Shell Clyde would make Optimax in NSW. I have heard good things about BP's hi octane ,the same as most people have heard about the problems optimax caused in older cars. Each refinery have different plants that are used to make their fuel. We have different units to Shell and to the other companies, Since the companies use different methods to get the legal specs the compostions will obviously be slightly different. During the Ford Sierra days Shell would make special blends for DJ. we made a special one for Colin Bonds Alfa.

Catalytic reforming units are used to increase the octane of HSR to bring it up to a RON of 95-102. Petrol from the bowser is usually a mix of different unit rundowns that are blended to and tested to be sold.Toluene is not added to increase RON. Toluene, Benzene, Propane, Butane, Xylene, Cyclohexanes, etc are all products of the Reaction in our Reactors. Heat is used to increase the reaction that gives a higher RON.Shell talks about density of Optimax. The density of our rundowns are usually quite a bit higher . This is one of the specs we run to. HSR is what is distilled from crude oil. There is usually about 4-6 different types of crude running through a crude unit at any time. We use about 10 differing crudes. This is due to availability , and specs needed for summer or winter fuel , Diesel , jet fuel, heating oil , feed to other units, base stock for lube oils and bitumen. Caltex haven't used added octane inprovers since Tetraethyl lead was removed some years ago. We do add a cleaner that cleans fuel systems. MOst of the Benzene will be removed from all gasoline on the 1st January 2006. This is a Government regulation. If you got BP hi octane fuel in WA it came from BP"s refinery in Kwinnana. If you got Optimax or Synergy or Vortex it came from that same refinery.Sometimes we will send fuel to Victoria to meet a need of the refiners down there and if we have supply probs they will ship it up to Sydney. There aren't tankers runningaround the coast with finished product to stock all the different brands. Kurnell supplies 2/3 of NSW petrol needs so it would be difficult to send any to other states as well.Hope this helps Sorry MIK I misunderstood the tolune part. thought people thought it was an additive. Toluene is used as a solvent in producing lube oils in some processes
-
I'm just leaving for work I will give you a better reply later.RememberWA has one BP refinery. SA now has no refinery as MOBIL shut their refinery, VIC has SHELL Geelong and MOBIL Altona, NSW CALTEX Kurnell and SHELL Clyde and QLD has CALTEX Lytton and BP Bulwa Island. Each product can change state to state as different companies use differing process's and technoligies to increase RON .
-
No. sorry to say Vortex 95 and 98 are not rich in Toluene.Toluene is a solvent . Different refineries use different processes to increase RON . I make the stuff at kurnell. Also the Companies have agreements in different states about supply. There is no Caltex refinery in Victoria. You will probably find that is a Shell product.
-
I had started to type out this long reply ,but it's easier to say don't listen to him.
-
I brought my car and heaps of stuff off them. Darron and Tony will always help you with things you need for your car . Justjap carry a large supply of new and used parts.
-
I got an N1 for my Gts-t when my old pump started to leak. The N1 differs in the size and shape of the impellor. My car runs cooler with the N1 pump by a considerable margin

If you can get some Kendall synthetic gear oil you will be very suprised how much better your gear change is. Also I slipped some Slick 50 in as well.
