Im suprized no one has told you to run the hicas diagnostics, i carnt remember how to do it from memory but it was very simple, do a search for hicas diagnostics, its a trip, it does all this weird crap and the rear wheels turn left and right slightly and a code flashes up on the dash, the hicas light will flash the code exactly like the ecu diagnostic mode does. Im pretty sure that the car is suposed to be off the ground and level before running the test because the rear wheels turn left and right. From memory i think i had to do the procedure a few times to do it right because if you dont turn the steering wheel to the right degrees left and right it wont register properly and wont put it into diagnostic mode. Hope this helps ..

Poor Skyline Decided Enough Was Enough :-(
Mick replied to miss_ditzi's topic in General Maintenance
miss ditzi the diagnostics im talking about doesnt cost anything, there is a computer scantool that nissan use that they plug up to your car but that costs money, what im talking about is a free diy diagnostics, all u need to do is turn the ignition on and stick a hair pin in the consult port which is located near the fuse panel to the lower right of the steering wheel, you bridge two pins in the grey consult port with a hair pin or paper clip for about 2 seconds and then remove it and the orange engine check light on your dash will start to flash, the flashes will be long and short flashes which will give you a code, for example 5 long flashes followed by 5 short flashes is code 55 which means everything is good, i carnt remember how many codes there are from memory but it does check quite a few things including the air flow meter. I highly recommend you run this test, if your airflow meter is stuffed it will tell you in this test. If you have troubles finding the instructions on how to do it just let me know and i'll find it for you. If your still a bit unsure how to do it after reading the instructions you can pm me and i'll give you my number and i'll help you do it step by step over the phone. Its very simple to do. -
Poor Skyline Decided Enough Was Enough :-(

its a very simple thing to do, there are instructions available on this forum, just search for r33 ecu diagnostics The ecu might be in limp home mode if there is a problem, so hopefully no real damage has been done apart from maybe a sensor. I had my SAFC die once and the car was running bad and stalling and wouldnt drive bacause the computer was spliced into the Air Flow Meter of it was basicaly like the afm waqs unplugged, but the car wouldnt idle and kept dying. -

yes a vacum hose will do that, i had the plenum to fuel pressure reg hose blow off and it gave me that but even when i replaced the hose it was still running bad bec i fried a few spark plugs. What i would do first is run the ecu self diagnostic mode by using a hair pin in the consult port to see if u get any errors, this diagnostics will check quite a few sensors including your afm -
i got one to fit my r33 from repco, nissan wouldnt sell me one even though i had the nissan part no for it ..

i dont know if this will help you but on my r33 there is a 3amp fuse to the side of all the main fuses thats responsible for the dash lights, 3amp blade fuses are purple in color

Hey i have searched the forum and i couldnt find an answer to my question, on an R33 the air con diagnostics has a mode that is suposed to display 3 different temperatures from different sensors but when i done it on mine it only displays 2 instead, ive seen a few people who posted that they get the same thing but no one has said why, is it suposed to be only 2 or is it 3. Has anyone else here checked theres ? Its very simple to do, could i ask that a few people with R33's please check theres and tell me if they get 2 or 3. I'll write down how to do it to save people from searching the forum to find out how to do it. Well within 10 seconds from turning the ignition on press and hold the off button on the air con until the unit goes into the diagnostics mode, u will know when its there cos the display lights up fully, now the mode we want is mode 5 (Sensor Recognition Check), to get it to this press the red arrow 4 times, there should be a 5 displayed on the screen, now you press the demist button in the aircon to cycle through the sensors, when it goes back to the 5 it means that its finished, so i think i have explained it right, so yeah please someone help me work out if i have a problem or is it normal, and if it isnt any ideas how to fix it ... Thanx people ..

Hey on an R33 does anyone know if the 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4 marks are acurate, umm what i mean is that they are not equal, if you notice the 1/2 to 1/4 and the 1/4 to empty segments arnt even, the 1/2 to 1/4 segment is bigger and that may be because of the reserve, but the full to 3/4 is smaller to the 3/4 to 1/2 also, so my question is does each segment represent each quater of the tank, because if so then the bigger segments should dwindle down quicker than the smaller segments .. Damn this is so hard to describe but i think ive described it right .. So has anyone else noticed this too and does anyone know .. Because i swear that the 1/2 to 1/4 goes down quicker than the 1/4 to empty

yes just get new terminals, big grip ones that have maximun surface contact. Just to let u know also if u have an r33 the battery is in the boot an by law the battery must be a sealed lead with a vent hose that goes through a special hole located to the left of the battery on the floor through a rubber bung .. I reckon its bs but i got pulled up with that on a rwc .. I never knew what that hole was for b4 that ..

hey thanks for the replys, if i took it in to get it plumbed back into the exhaust how far down should i plumb it back in and what kinda angle ?

Hey i have a screamer pipe in my R33 GTST and its very very loud, if i had known it was goin to be this loud i probably wouldnt have brought it, but it made my car so much more peakier, not because its a screamer or anything, just the fact that its 3" and b4 it i just had a standard. Its a dump and front pipe all in one 3" with a seperate pipe for the wastegate which is short and open (doesnt connect back into the exhaust) if you know what i mean. Now i have seen screamer pipes that are connected back into the exhaust and i was wondering how much quieter they would be. I hate the fact that if i take off faster that rolling speed it sounds like im hooning which i rarely do. I hope ive explained this properly and if anyone can give me some advice i would apreciate it ..

Hey what offsets are the rims ? You said swap & cash, swap for what ? cos i have a 6point bolt in blue padded rollcage to fit an r33 without a sunroof. -
Is it spring steel ? Have you tried bending the blade to see if it folds or springs back. I dont supose you would be interested in swapping it for an R33 full 6point rollcage, but i dont know if it fits an r34 though.. I also have a HPI Nitro remote controlled R34 car that i paid over $1000 all up for that i have the receipt still for that i'll through in also .. Damn i love swords, i watched a making of them also, i spun out when i seen that the curve of the blade comes naturaly when cooled ..
