  1. Hi All, Just after some guidance on the following issue that I encountered this evening. The problem: Happened out of nowhere really, i put my car in reverse, engaged the clutch and the car started moving backwards faster than normal. Tried to disengage the clutch, but the car kept moving - couldn't disengage the clutch so had to hold brakes until the car stalled. Once the engine was cut, took my foot off the clutch and it wouldn't come up. Had to manually shove my foot under it to lift it up. Once up it went up and down as per normal. Started the car again, and same problem. Parked the car after that and didn't test other gears. (Was late and my car is loud) Diagnosis: Did some research this evening, and it sounds like the most likely culprits are a damaged clutch cable or clutch master cylinder. If anybody is able to provide some guidance as to how I might go about diagnosing the problem for sure that would be sweet. I had a look inside the bonnet for signs of a damaged clutch master cylinder but it looked ok on the surface of it, then again, I am an untrained eye. Also, was wondering if anybody has had a similar issue and how they fixed it. Thanks Taso

  7. Not sure where the paranoia on getting sued comes from. I'll admit im no lawyer but common sense tells me you can't sue a website owner for users posting reviews on a public website. Why arent other user review websites getting sued? Defamation is such a nothing case lol. You would have to prove 1) the allegations are false and 2) quantify your loss in dollars actually lost. Just doesnt seem credible to me Ill ask the lawyers to chome in on this one. I honestly thought from a legal perspective we've moved past this. Also which workshop in question are ppl having issues with? Does it start with c and end in d?
  8. Here you go, Ive found a precedent for you to use: http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/13305-local-wreckers-and-workshops/ Cheez, those Victorians are smart chaps aren't they
  9. Guys, May I suggest that one of the moderators puts up a workshop sticky that ppl can look at? I've spent 30mins looking for reviews of workshops and every thread seems to get closed with "do a search". Hard to do a search when you close every thread on the topic. It seems to me its a bit of a self fulling prophecy - you dont allow ppl to ask questions on workshops and therefore its become increasingly difficult to find the information. It shouldnt take this long to find information...and I can assure you, I am a very skilled researcher. Somebody went to the trouble of putting together this sticky: http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/228238-read-this-whos-the-best-tunerworkshopresprayerdetaileretc/ I think this quote is hilarious "All threads asking for advice on which workshop to go to will be locked and the thread starter pointed to this thread. Good luck with your modifications, just remember that hard research will increase this "luck"" While I appreciating receiving obvious advice on research and other considerations, I think most ppl would rather a list of workshops and/or links to open threads with useful information and reviews. Perhaps have a look at how they do it on other forums - its not rocket science Just a suggestion, and apologies for the whinge
  10. Hi all, Would like to replace my current coilover setup with the sydneykid bilstein/whiteline combo that everybody on here raves on about. How are people still buying these? Are you simply buying the various parts online? Thanks Taso
  11. In terms of the rego - Im not sure if ACT is same as NSW but VIC rego is much cheaper and less of a hassle. No annual RWC required and cost is just over $700. If ACT is anything like NSW, then it maybe worth transferring. The only thing is the VIC laws (and enforcement) in regards to defects/mods/EPA's and the like are much stricter, so its abit of a risk. Vic police cant fine you or driving an ACT regoed car if you have a ACT licence and the address is valid. The line as mentioned above is that you've got 3 months, but in reality as long as you are able to receive mail to the address on the licence and rego they cannot fine you for not transferring (well they can fine you - and probably will, but you would be able to quite appeal the penalty in court on the grounds that you legally still live at ur ACT address if you are receiving mail) Hope this helps
  12. Reading this topic was hilarious....I have to say, the populace of VIC is obsessed with policing!! Honestly, the rules/policing on this forum is akin to Nazi Germany. Since when does a For Sale section need policing? The mods need only to police for actual scam sellers and thats it. In terms of policing bumps and comments, who really cares. The whole point of forums is for dialogue and discussion. If ppl see a false claim on an add, they should be free to comment. Don't really see the big issue with bumping either, at least buyers know the item is still for sale and the seller is keen to get rid of it. Honestly, you can say we "should thank the moderators for giving their time....etc etc", but if they have time to be policing this, then perhaps they should look into other recreational activities. Tyrannical modz really do not help the community. The a20089 guy had the right idea. The answer to the worlds problems is not more policing!
  13. No sorry, will not part with rail

  16. top post frozenpost.... assuming that you can quote sources/ justify the figures, you should submit that to a person or organisation that will do something about it or at least publicise it so that it becomes more well known
  17. In my opinion hoon laws should apply to any1 breaking any law whatsoever. In fact we should just get rid of the word defendant, and just insert the word hoon. If u talk on the mobile whilst driving - phone impounded If u ride a bike without a helmut - bike impounded if u but out a ciggie on the footpath - pack of cigs impounded if u drink drive - car and all alcohol in ur house impounded if u shoplift - any possession of the hoon to the equal value of item stolen, impounded if u try to bribe a police officer - money impounded if u forge a doctors certificate - medicare card impounded if u download pirated software - computer impounded the list goes on....
  18. Sorry im too busy to actually organise but imsure theres some ppl on here that (work part time/unemployed/dont have to actually do work at work) and have the time to organise, but point taken
  19. Oh and btw, to all u pple out there that think that voting liberal at this yrs state election to punish the Govt will do anything...U ARE WRONG. The libs are even more anti-hoon that the current mob. The only way u can change this is to lobby the Govt and have enough ppl sign a petition / make some sort of declaration that u will only vote for a party that waters down these laws to something more reasonable. End of the day, I know nobody will do this and u'll prob spend more time and effort arguing how petitions dont work and flaming each other and no1 will actually do anything about it. I remember when the hoon laws were first introduced some guys from other forums tried to start something similar and all u guys did was flame him and the old "u've got nothing to worry about if u don't break the law" attitude came out. U think minority groups dont mean sh|t? how wrong u are!! The vocal minority always win over the silent majority. Its just that ur not vocal enough and u dont make enough threats. U get 100K ppl onboard with some sort of slogan to appose these laws (eg Drivers against Fascist laws) and the Govt might seriously start listening. Considering how close the Fed election was, and how close the upcoming state election is forecast to be, 100K ppl might be a threat not worth ignoring. All i've got to say to the ppl of Vicotria is this: Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both. U think it will end with this piece of legislation? U think this will be it? The Jews thought the gettos would be as far as the Germans would go too.
  20. Yep, This is y i will be moving to Sydney as soon as i get the chance. Just can't stand this city and this Govt anymore. Even tho i hate the phrase, theres no other way to describe this than unAustralian. VIC really has gone to sh|t... u Victorians out there that support this Govt, good luck to you.... u wait and see, in no time, we'll be back to the 90's when Victoria was losing population as every1 moved north. what a sh|thole we live in
  21. Application of the hoon laws is another example of flawed policy by both govt and police who designed the laws. It once again shows that when it comes to human resources, the govt and govt departments really do scrape the barrel in terms of the quality of talent they attract. O.k. I get it, they want to take away what hoons regard as their most treasured asset - their car... i get it, but in just 5 minutes I can think up of a better plan/strategy/law than they thought up after however many months this was in the planning for. 1) Why are hoon laws fundamentally flawed? - Bascially because they are a form of uncapped in effect mandatory penalty imposed on lawbreakers that in many cases will be a punishment whose severity far outweighs the original crime. - Imagine a very real scanario where an individual driving a vehicle valused at approx. $50K on his 2nd impound strike has just been observed commitiing a hoon offence and is being hailed to pull over by a police officer. Given the likely punishment for this offence will be at least $50K for the offender, there is a very real and likely scenario that the offender will attempt to outrun the police - at pretty much any cost to both his own and the public's safety. Given that we know there are people in our society who will commit much more serious offences for much less than $50K of monetry gain, (armed robbery, contract killings, etc) the prospect of dangerous police pursuits is very real. 2) What the hoon laws should look like if they were to designed properly: - On the 3rd strike, the offender will have to face court on answer to charges. If found guilty, the Judge, after taking into account the severity of the offence as well as the offenders priors, will impose a fine/penalty that is fitting. - As part of this penalty, under the 3rd strike, the police force is to take ownership of the offenders vehicle and the vehicle is to be sold at auction regardless of its condition. The proceeds of this auction is to be used to pay the fines imposed by the court. Any moneys left over is to be returned to the offender. Any shortfall is to be paid by the offender. I personally find what they are currently doing unconstitutional. We have courts for a reason. Judges are the qualified individuals to impose penalties on offenders. Under my system this would happen. Under the current system, there is floor to what the penalty is that discrimates against people with higher value cars.
  22. Sorry but i find this very hard to believe.... Getting into the police force is not that easy and once your in its a pretty good career in terms of pay and job security. Why would some1 risk their career just to get you if uve done nothing wroing? Im not saying that police are not corrupt, they are!! and I know it. In this case, there is nothing for the officer to gain, so y would he do it? If ur saying the truth them im sorry, but really, I do find it hard to believe.
  23. Didnt realise this happens in the UK. I know when i went to Greece I saw only a few speed cameras and all of them had been destroyed/vandalised. The locals tell me that they were operational for only a few days before being taken out of action. Havent been to Italy but i imagine that if its happening in Greece and Britain then it would prob be the same story in Italy - can any1 testify to this?
  24. Also this law is an example of why we need a bill of rights. Soon they will make it illegal to smoke inside ur own house....this is nanny state gone extreme
