  1. I agree, this is the reality of it. Half the thrill of doing in the street is knowing that you could be caught. I guess that one way around getting insurance and TAC to be covered is to not call it a track. Obviously consultation would be needed with the insurance companies but I think they too would much prefer this thing to happen in a supervised environment rather than on princess hwy or tullamarine where an accident is much more likely. End of the day, similar to the point u made, the police busting up these nights is more about boosting their public image and "distracting the populace" from the real crime problems we have. Why else would you invite 7 news and heraldsun?!
  2. ok, lets get back to the topic
  3. Also add 1 more part for sale: 1 x r33 gtst standard radiator. Has a crack in the plastic top tank so it will need to be either fixed or replaced (the top tank that is) $79
  4. lol, I like that. Look i agree with you, its not a perfect plan, but its a start. I've heard that other countries have similar policies to deal with hoons and it works quite well. In regards to duty of care, yes, the supervisors should make sure that its safe for spectators to watch but duty of care is a very loose term. As long as the organisers took reasonable steps to ensure ppls safety then it should be ok since every1 that enters signs a disclaimer and assumes responsibilty for putting themselves is a risky situation. I agree, a proper drag strip is a much better idea, but with calder closed, this could be a temporary strategy. I mean at least under a supervised environment it will be a lot safer than ppl just doing it at will in the factories with nobody around to control the situation. And safety is the primary issue here isnt it?
  5. For all the money they spent on that police operation here is an idea for VicPol and the state Govt: Why don't you close off a industrial estate to the public every say Sat or Sun night, (one that is not being used during those hours) and have supervised hooning. Charge ppl $10 entry and make them sign a disclaimer so the supervisors are not held responsible for their actions. Ok, overall it might run at a loss, however you would need prob max 2 marked cop cars to supervise and it would be a hell of alot cheaper than launching these huge bust operations with 50 cops and 25 cars + helicopters needed. Since it is a public road, all entrants must have rego and a licence. TAC and normal insurance would still apply. Hooning is not a new phenomenon. This country has had a love affair with cars and burning runner for over 50 years now. The culture is not going to change, Police need to accept this and find alternative strategies to continually busting up meets only for new ones to appear a month later, because in all honesty, that is what happens. What I am proposing is one such alternative strategy. I'm sure with all of the talent they've got working for VicPol atm they might find an even better solution.
  6. I think if u are injured attending one of these hoon event you still would be covered by TAC since it is on a public road, as long as all parties have rego. Don't see why you wouldn't be
  7. Look, i dont condone that sort of behaviour, I just hate it when ppl get on their high horse and start ripping into some guy when most probably, he was only there watching. I also hate the fact that these same ppl are hypocrites and have also probably done more stupid things but are just lucky enough to have never been caught Maybe you view the watching the hoons as encouraging that sort of behaviour but realistically 1) its still gonna happen whether ppl are watching or not and 2) its not a crime to do so. Lets cut this guy a break, I think having ur car on 6pm news is punishment enough
  8. Thank you very much, you are spot on my friend. Never has a truer post been written
  9. Has anybody here purchased the 8000 one yet? If so, can u post up pics, still undecided whether i wanna go 6000 or 8000
  10. Nismoid u are saaaad. You think I am ill-informed? "And as a side note - I live on Princes Hwy, drive it at all hours of the day/night, never seen a SAU-Vic sticker'd car once in 4 years misbehaving." Wake up and smell the coffee mate, how very naive of you. Look, I agree with you that if u do stupid shit whilst wearing the SAU colours then u r tarnishing the club. But mate, u need to stop getting personal everytime i make a post that doesnt necessarily agree with ur opinion. You need to grow up and stop acting like a 5 year old. And before you call me misinformed maybe you need to get out more and see just what really happens out there on the streets.
  11. Yea look, every1 is bagging this guy but all he did was not pay fines and get his car clamped. He was prob just there watching. Yous all love it and ur know it so let he who is free from sin blow the first blowtorch
  12. 1^6987987845 = 1 Fail

  16. do u know the diff b/w the internals of this and a rb25 box? Which is stronger?
  17. Sorry again for the delay guys, to answer all of the above questions: - The indicator does not have a fog lights setting from what i could work out, was from s1 anyway - Below are pics of bothe the Turbosmart and Blitz BOVs. As you can see, this has got the adapter plate so you can fit it in the stock position of a 33 GTSt and/or 33 GTR. Not sure about other models This comes with a bit of cooler piping for easy fitment into ur cold piping. Good if u want the BOV to be stealth, just fit into piping on the cold side of the cooler under ur front bar. Have also PMed those with the requests Cheers
  18. Yep, id say its the laggy turbo syndrome. LAggy turbos that come on really hard will always feel faster since it pulls more G's, but overall it wont be faster on the tarmac. I've been in 2 similar powered cars, a 240rwkw 33 and a 250rwkw one. Shouldn't feel very different right? wrong! The 250rwkw has nothing under 4 Grand so when the turbo does come on, the G force is way more than what u feeel on the 240rwkw one. Depends what you like overall, me personally, i prefer more midrange and gradual build up of power as that is always going to be quicker
  19. ^^^ thats a good deal, equates to about 1300ish $A
  20. awsome price, tempted to buy in case i blow my engine to bits
  21. Yea letters it, you will get off, exact thing has happened to me
  22. I read the article, i thought it was pretty well written and as stated, the GTR was built and benchmarked against the 911 Turbo not the GT2. In any case, the GT2 was found to have been quicker both in a straight line and around the track than the GTR. This is despite the superior ride quality and RWD of the GT2. All in all I think this shows what a magnificient piece of machinery the Porsche GT2 just is. That said, where as most of us can only dream of ever owning a GT2, where as a 35 GTR is definately within the realm of possibility for many of us. And given how close the two cars actually were, this speaks volumes about what callibre of vehicle you are getting when you purchase a 35 GTR of $160G.
  23. actually triple post, dont know what happened there
