Any btw, this thread was not intended for ur entertainment purposes, it was for informative purposes for the rest of the community that might be concerned and/or affected.

Maybe read my post again, I'm not disputing this. End of the day I don't know if ur a Lib supporter or what, but picking on the technicalities doesn't mean jack. End of the day Ballieu is inferring that we should be crushing cars.

Yea agree with you, but I reckon its more about reading between the lines than what is literally said. But hey, if you want to take the press release at face value as a statement of facts (be it on a political website) then you are entitled to do so.

Article Pasted below: Date : Thursday, 3 July 2008 Subject : HOONS SMOKE IT UP WHILE LABOR SLEEPS Author : Ted Baillieu MLA Victoria's hoon drivers are getting off lightly because of Labor's refusal to toughen anti-hoon legislation, Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu said today. Mr Baillieu said Police Minister Bob Cameron* was too focused on back-slapping stunts, not on protecting Victorian families from reckless drivers. "It was the Coalition parties, the Liberal Party in particular, that advanced the prospect of hoon legislation in this state two years ago, and the Government ridiculed us at the time. "But having adopted our policy, Labor has refused to make these laws tough enough to stop hoon drivers from endangering other road users. "Since 2006, we've seen the number of offences which have led to hoon legislation being used increase from 120 a month to nearly 280 a month, showing these laws have not been adequate to deter offenders. "Hoon driving is Victoria's fastest-growing popular sport, and having your car confiscated for 48 hours is now seen as a badge of honour. "Taking a car off somebody on Friday night and giving it back to them on Monday morning is not enough and John Brumby and his Ministers should go much further. "For example, Western Australia and New South Wales have flagged laws to crush cars, Western Australia and South Australia can clamp cars for a first offence and SA police can apply to extend clamping to 90 days. "After the Kororoit by-election on Saturday night I saw hoons in Deer Park fishtailing their cars down Canterbury Street, putting at risk mums and dads out for a Saturday night with their families. "This sort of behaviour is a disgrace and the Government must act now to toughen up on hoon legislation," Mr Baillieu said. *Mr Cameron's Bendigo electorate is Victoria's worst hoon hotspot, with statistics released by police revealing that 162 cars have been seized from Bendigo drivers under anti-hoon laws. Wanting To Start Drifting Wondering Where I Can Go?
Taso84 replied to boostn0199's topic in Victoria
I would go to the drift days except for the horror storys of cops waiting out the front to dik you, especially inconvenient 2.5hrs from home. You try to do the right thing by going to the track but it seems the jacks are trying to encourage you to do it illegally. -
Also, does anyone have a link to info about the girl that got hit and killed by the cop car chasing a VLT?
-
Heard a rumor that last nite cops last nite blocked off the Caltex on Sharpes Rd and bashed some hoon. Anybody on here know what happened?

I feel for you man, Can't believe how much prices have dropped off. I remember a year ago here in MElb there were 3 mayb 4 GTR34's up for sale. Now the market has been flooded, theres even a NUR for sale. GL with the sale mate. Looks like a really clean car, Hopefully you get the right price for it

Let me get this right: Your fiance's grandma was driving this car around?
-
No i dont have actual statistics on what ppl think, i was merely making a passing comment based on observation - but yea you got me! Off-topic: Did you manage to get rid of the GTR yet or still no luck?

but wasn't it only the 1 drug squad cop in underbelly corrupt? The rest were portrayed as straight

If you read the posts correctly i said the 20-30% was only my opinion. If you think my opinion doesnt matter then good for you, however if this were trully the case then obviously you would not have posted on here, you would simply have clicked the little square in the top right hand corner so thank you for letting me know my opinion matters to you.

Its ppl like u that lets the Govt get away with so much. Maybe you think i'm a tosser but at least im out here expressing my opinion. If you think that nothing is ever going to change and you've resigned to that then you are really a sad person. Maybe don't even bother voting at the next election either, I mean nothings going to change anyway.

Guilt toy, Im not trying to undermine you or anything, so dont go psycho on me, but what lead you to believe that a "tuned" engine will knock at a different frequency to a stock engine. From what most ppl say here, their knock happens not under foll boost at 6000RPM but under slight load in a high gear at about 2000-3000RPM going up a hill on a hot day. Ie what im trying to say is that under that scenraio a tuned engine and a stock engine wouldn't be performing materially differently. Also, if as you say the knock of a highly tuned engine would sound different to a stock engine, this doesnt explain why the knock value is still coming up on the PFC. Perhaps the "real knock" is a different frequency to what the PFC is showing but i would still be concerned that a large noise (consistent with stock engine knock) was coming out of my tuned engine consistently for a certain situation (ie above). Before u reply Guitl-toy, know that I am not saying u r wrong or ur thery is flawed, I'm just trying to understand the underlying reasons behind ur theory and to answer some of the scepticism that others may have about what ur saying. Cheers

This may seem to be a low %, but how about all the others that haven't been charged because during their careers as officers, they learnt how to "work the system" so that they cant be caught/charged. Again, this may seem to be a low %, but what does it say when the assistant commissioner is one of those 100. To me that would suggest a deep seeded organisational culture within the police force of corruption brought down from the top. At very best this culture could be one of simply turning a blind eye to corruption, at very worse it could encompass encouraging and promoting it. The police always complain when criminals don't rat on each other and uphold the veil of secrecy, but the worse perpetrators of this are the police themselves. They are the ones that "look after each other" and don't dobb in corrupt officers. I remember when the OPI was set up there was huge resistance from within the police force since they will always look after themselves no matter what, even if it involves murder. If any of you remember "4 corners" did a episode on this where the guy who was heading the OPI was sent death threats, was made an outcast and was villifyed by members within the force For any of you out there that think police corruption is a small problem, you really have you head in the clouds. Its a massive problem I estimate that the incidence of corruption is not less than 0.5% as Graeme suggests - I would put it at between 20% - 30% of the force judging by the stories I have heard. That is no joke, and if anything, conservative. Im not saying that 20-30% are full criminals that drug deal and murder, I'm saying 20-30% have in same way conducted themselves in a corrupt way, whether it be abusing their powers, taking bribes, getting out of speeding tickets etc etc

As a side note ppl, You will actually help "the situation" by disputing any/every driving offense in court. If you can afford it or are willing to represent urself then DO IT. 1) You will help clog up the justice system which will hopefully get so bad that TMU will have to restrain themselves more 2) If you win a case (dpending on the defense/circumstances) you could potentially set a precedent for others to use. Similar to the precedent regarding a 1st time speeding offense for 7ks over. (correct me any1 if i got this wrong) Also for anyone that doesnt know you can choose to take to court any offense you recently (dont quote me on how recently) got done for but decided to just pay the ticket/infringement and be done with it. It actually doesn't count as a guilty plea so if you think/know u r innocent of an offense but just paid it, i encourage u to challenge it in court. Remember, its innocent unless proven guilty.
-
So Graeme, Since general duties are down 3000 members, why dont they reallocate some members from TMU? I know hooning and speeding etc etc.. are bad but arn't things like armed robbery, assault, drug dealing, gang activity worse? It seems to me, and to alot of other ppl around here that TMU is being overstaffed and general duties understaffed purposefully in order to increase revenue.

Interesting reading, so the PFC knock sensor does not read correct values. Just wondering has anybody found anything to replace the PFC knock sensor with something that gives the correct value. If this is true then as guilt toy has stated, we are all probably running around underpowered. Hopefully this is figured out ASAP. Just out of curiosity, if u advance the timing will this affect the AFRs? I was always under the impression that the PFC used the factory knock sensor. Maybe its just the case that the factory knock sensor is getting old and is giving incorrect values??!! Usually the knock sensor is designed to pick up sounds at certain frequencies that coincide with detonation. I would have thought that the nissan engineers would have made the factory know sensor be able to pick up the correct frequencies. Since the knock sensors use some sort of coil to pick up the frequencies it might be that the coil has aged and is not working properly. I wonder if anyone here has tried to fix knocking problems by buying from nissan a brand new genuine knock sensor. Would be interesting to find out if this helped fix the problem
