There is that one cop that has a history of perfromance car related fines in that area. Other cops don't know/care bout power to weight, only the occasional canary. If he was doing his job properley, he wouldn't let you drive the car home.

What am i sposed to do now? -need help
Chef_32 replied to Memph's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i think it would be worthwhile going to Nissan and finding out the exact specifiactions of your car. If it turns out that you are actually under, then take it to court and prove your innocense (spell?). There is a similar case in the Victoria section, have a read, there was heaps of feedback, i don't know if it helped much though. -
for free?? if so i'll take it.

did they dyno your car??? i thought they work off factory figures??

R32 GTS-T front top arm bushes
Chef_32 replied to Remix-'s topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Unique auto sport used to have them. Nismo ones. Give them a call and see if they still do. not on the website though. I called them up bout them a while back, said it would take a few weeks to get here. The bushes weren't the problem either so i didn't bother -
I reckon there's at least 3g of stuff you could seel off the car if necessary. Try to get a few offers, if they are low, sell some of the mods seperately and you can get a bit more for it. Say if someone offers you 15g, you could probably sell your turbs, cooler, seat and rotors for at least 3g, and sell your car for like 14000-14500 to someone else. just a thought

if you keep on driving with it for a while, you might scorch the flywheel badly.

yeah, exedy organic single is good. I'm inclined to go a button myself after this one goes, just to try it out. There's also a group buy for light weight flywheels in the for sale section, something to consider...

smells like fish when frying the clutch. You can tell if you drive at like 60k's, put it in 5th gear and floor it. If the revs jump but speed doesn't, then you're in trouble. if not you could be aight for a while. Also, rev the car up to like 5000-5500 before changing and see if the revs jump up then settle back down. If they do jump up, then its slipping.

i got my alarm done by a guy called Chad 0413 995 496. I got his card from autobarn in Chaddy, apparently he does their contracts. He's a nice guy, not too pricey. call him

Nizpro crashed my friends VL. If i had anything like tuning or internals to do, I'd go to racepace, anythings else i'd try myself. really depends on which side of melbourne you're on. North side has alot of good VL, and rotory places who do skylines aswell. BTW, it bloody cold down here, and a bit wet, expect some sideways action and bring warm clothes.

I was under the impression that there is a stock solenoid which regulated the boost in such a way that the boost will display characteristics as you mentioned holding at 5 psi for a while then jumps to 7-8psi later. The revs are probably your clutch slipping though. Rb25det gearboxes are apparently really heavy, might not be a good idea to do yourself unless you got a hoist. My friends have had HD organic Exedy clutches installed for $800ish.

Yeah, I know this has already been done, but i'm yet to see the ecu being programmed by a computer built into the car whilst on the road. Laptop is a good thought, but its like having a boom box in the back seat (IMO). I'd much prefer the gadgetry of the computer being built into the car, rather than brought into the car. This has always been a thought excercise for me, never got into actually making it ( wanted to do it in a Gen 2 CRX, but got a r32 instead. I considered a bunch of possibilities, including the fact that the bumps will upset the computer. Phorj has got the right idea, with the rubber; there are many ways to soften the impact on the computer. There are heaps of other possibilities that come with the comp idea. Web cams mounted during spirited drives, jump on forums at traffic lights, download music, etc.

What to do with overly hard springs???
Chef_32 replied to JXL's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Mick, any help would be great. They are Apexi, damper adjustable shocks i called centreline, they said that they don't know anyone who does rebuild for apexi shock. Should i be looking for a motorbike joint for it??? I'll try to take the shocks to thomastown tomorrow for them to take a look. -

Chef_32 replied to JXL's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Mick. i just bought the shocks recently and have not yet put them in. I got them checked (quick inspection) and found that the rod lifts much slower on one of them, the reason for this is that the shock is out of gas. There were no leaks from either of them. I want know i can get that shock regasses, and how much it would cost. i'm on a tight budget ( got very little on me), thats why i bought them second hand. If you know anyone who is able to regas them, or can rebuild them cheap. It would be great. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks -

Chef_32 replied to JXL's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i don't really want it for track. You think they are worth rebuilding?? or should i try to return them?? i got screwed. haven't got the prings checked yet, so idon't know. Are they going to be useless on my car?? I'll call a couple of places tommorow for prices of rebuilds.... -
What to do with overly hard springs???
Chef_32 replied to JXL's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i got my shocks inspected by traction tyre in Rowville. They said that the gas in one of the shocks has leaked, preventing the shock from lifting at the same rate as the other one. Is this a big problem?? Is it going to adversely affect the car?? Should i get them rebuild, and how mcuh does it cost?? I heard that motorbike joints do it much cheaper. any more help would be great. -
Hand brake adjusted too tight?
Chef_32 replied to Abo Bob's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
he's right. there are drum brakes behind the hub which are used for the hand brake. The discs are only for the normal brakes -
