I just got a exedy brass button clutch and a heavy duty presure plate. Works awesome can withstand 500hp atw or something like that possibly more. I bought mine for $550 through a mate that works at repco. Im sure ive seen group buys for them on this forum which are cheaper? Give it a crack yourself, talk to a few mechanics. Its not that dificult. My mates and I have done a few, and none of us are qualified mechanics. The $300 labour also is incorporating the flywheel being machined aswell, generally. That costs about $50-$80.

yeah my apexi timer has the handbrake feature aswell. Since my engine swap my timer hasnt worked when I turn the car off. Might be disconected from the handbrake hmmmmmm. Im off to check that

Tangles, A turbo gets extreemley hot. Sometimes even glowing red. Metal when it is hot should be cooled down gradually (on idle) not rapidley (turning car straight off). Metal stretches and expands some what with heat and cooling it down to quick will make metal brittle, or crack, or worp. Thats why my timer for example (apexi) is attached to the oxygen sensor. The more air that flows through it (eg. if your putting your foot down) the longer the automatic feature on the timer will keep the car on. I just set mine for a minimum of 30 sec and a max of 3 min, and the timer figures out how hard I have driven the car and sets accordingly. Hope that helps

I didnt have the lovely family you did Ben but im not jealous as I am 25 now and have got there by myself now anyway. If everyone in your situation reacted to generousity like you did in a posative way and didnt milk their parents for every drop then sure it would be a shame not to buy your kids any car you can possibly afford for them. But from what ive seen the MAJORITY of the time and in the case of my brother who was raised much like you its not the case. Take it as a compliment that you have been so appreciative and responsible. But dont rubish us strugglers. Some of us didnt have a choice. It only rubs salt into the wounds of people who had to push troleys for 3 years to pay rent in a shitty unit and save for a shit car until things like study eventualy payed off.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. Id probably make that deal with my kids one day actually. They would still learn the lesson saving 50% of the car.

Ok here is a black and white point which pretty much displays the differance in attitudes and settles the argument. 1. I earnt everything myself, I have owned 3 nice cars. I have sold all 3 cars in much the same condition they were when I bought them and I appreciated and loved my cars. 2. Out of guilt for some reason my mother decided to hand everything out to my brother who is 18 and he has owned 2 cars. Both of those cars were sold to the wreckers for spare parts because he destroyed them! We had the same decent upbringing with the exception that I was out of home young and grew up quick and earnt EVERTYTHING. He is a pretty good kid dont get me wrong he is studing multimedia and good most the time. But He has no respect or appreciation for anything material because he hasnt earnt it. Full Stop!

oh ok, I had thats two mechanics on the Gold Coast who told me they were aluminium. Liars! None of mine were broken luckily. They were threaded but not broken

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
ross80 replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Bridgestone reo40's arnt that bad either. I had a set on my 33 when I first bought it and they gripped pretty good. However, as someone posted just before me, towards the end of the tyres life they seemed to harden up and becom quite gripless and a bit unpredictable. -

It depends on what you want to do aswell and how you drive. Im more into straight line power track sort of driving. So a set of p zeros etc would be the shit. But back in the day when I was a young fella with a s13 going sideways I would prefer some cheap shitty nankangs (which by the way dont actually seem to bad, shitty is probably harsh for these tyres). -
For Sale: 4x R33 Series Ii Rims
ross80 replied to T0MM0's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
probably hopeful, but is that with tyres? If so 205? 225? Im on Gold Coast. Let me know I dont mind driving up there. -
I think a cheap run about is the go. I would want to see some sort of effort on their behalf if I was prepared to pitch in for their first car. I deffinantly would not buy a performance car as a first car for them. If they wanted that they could save and it would work out well as they would be gaining experience as they scrape money together for their dream car. I think it is different for boys and girls to. Girls tend to be more responsible and look after themselves and their things. I basically ruined my first car and blew the head gasket on my girlfriends car too! But after a shitload of money you soon learn to balace stupidity with your budget.

ryan, too which i wasnt talking about. I have a very close mate who is bombing out a vl as we speak. But geographically, as far as income vs attitude goes. A 'bogan with a vl ($1500)is more likely than a 'bogan with a r33'($14000-$21000). And trust me Ive lived in Bankstown and I have lived in Ipswich (very bogan towns). But im sure your not a bogan a car doesnt make a bogan but a sock vl is more affordable to a bogan. My mate has a vl with a aero kit he is about to paint. 30-25 turbo motor. Very nice when it is done im guessing.

Damn! Well, hope your new car works out -
IVe heard of similar stories with cruise control related crashes in the rain. I did hear the technical reason why the car looses traction but I cant remember at the moment. I read a similar story and the police attending the accident (it was a lady and she lived) blamed the cruise control and not neg driving or speeding. When it is released I think a similar situation to what happens with compression locks as engine sometimes down shift. I think thats it. Anyone know? Glad to hear you and your family are ok mate.

well thats a different story. Should be far cheaper. $160 sounds a bit rough in that case. Very prone to this sort of failure as apparently the studs are aluminium and prone to streching and snapping. I had my car back from a engine replacement and it sounded like a tractor off a farm. lol Is yours similar? and does not boost up properley?
-
yes hard trace is in fact, the shit
-
Jesus grow up! lol I have a skyline and I love it but they are not the quickest car on the road and especially not anymore with all the euro cars/hatches which are putting out the same sort of stock power as us. Be realistic about it or you risk becoming a bogan who thinks his vl is the quickes thing around hahahah
-
Dude $160 is dirt cheap. I was quoted $450 as it is a prick of a job that requires removing the turbo and takes a few hours to do. Id be taking that deal if I was you.

I have a feeling that would have been a write off anyway but you did well getting a settlement so quickely and that you wernt hurt. I had a BIG suv reverse into the front of my 33 gtst. It cracked the bar, broke the back of both headlights, lifted up the bonet in one corner and thats about it. No structual damage. They replaced the gtr bar with a 400 r bar, replaced lights, repaired and painted bonet for a total of $3500 through insurance!! Yours would have been closer to $8000-$10000 i think. -
This is exactly the sort of topic in a performance car forum that police read and then hassle us for the rest of the year. Thanks a lot idiots. If you guys arnt bragging about it why do you need to tell everyone that has access to the internet? (police, media, parents of young people who own these cars!) Im not saying im the smartest person in the world but for f**ks sake it goes without saying you dont mention this sort of shit.
