  1. black box like in planes??
  2. SR20 drift club. contact mre on the qld forums.
  3. i've hit my speed limiter before. the car just suddenly nose dives due to the lack of acceleration, but once it drops below 180, it picks up again, and keeps doing this. when i hit it, i just back right off...doesn't feel as harsh as rev limiter, but maybe cos rev limiter's hit in the lower gears. no such problems now with the power fc
  4. and those big long bolts that hold the engine head to the bottom. i have heard bad things about the RB26, that this is one of the weaker areas. Jun makes a set of bolts n all that.
  5. i think they are both able to support high hp applications. however, the funny thing is in high hp GTRs, i see the japs use the F Con only as a piggy back, just to control the fuel system. another thing is, F Con does seem to be a more popular option in Japan.
  6. this is it guys. my flight leaves in 4 hours. will see you guys soon. btw, could someone who has my email pass it on to Fenn? i want those videos n pictures he took of my car.
  7. i used to run a gutted cat, but not much spectacular flames. dunno y too...thought it would spit some flames. and i think the fines would not be under some yellow sticker thing, but rather environment pollution...heard in QLD it's a 10k fine or sumthing.
  8. they are illegal. from what i know, the wastegate is separated from the dump, therefore, less turbulence in exhaust system. the dump still connects to front n thru cat back, but the small pipe from the wastegate dumps to the floor, which means really loud noise and flames.
  9. the boost increases due to the drop in the back pressure. read this from somewhere a few years ago, something bout physics and air wanting to flow from a high pressure area to a low pressure area. therefore, when u lower ur back pressure, more air wants to go from the compressed, high pressure area, to the low pressure area, and thus ur boost rises automatically.
  10. nismo one would bolt straight on. not that expensive either.
  11. aerograce...nowhere else in the world will u find bangladeshis washing cars for people n then popping up their wipers...
  12. cheap option would be to get speed cut defender. HKS makes one. or the apexi rsm would do the job as well. but if u're planning on upgrading ecu might as well save up for it, no point getting a speed cut defender and an ecu.
  13. aerograce...u're from singapore i assume?? n yes, it's to stop the rubber wiper bit from sticking to the windscreen, temps in that region range between 30-34 degrees everyday. really really hot.
  14. which would explain why they're not in the JGTC.
  15. i'm with DaiOni on this one. Evo 5 onwards they were designed to be the GTR's competition. i'm not too clear on the Evo 8's performance, but i know the 7 would put a GTR 34 away, if both were the same drivers. even the V Spec 2 or Nur would have their work cut out for them.
  16. i doubt that Honda will turbo-charge their NSX. their philosophy has always been to stick with N.A. engines, something which they are obviously very good at doing. there are not many vehicles in the Honda's N.A. class that will be considered competition in stock trim.
  17. i dunno if tomei makes GTS-t engines. i understand they make RB26DETTs, guaranteed to put out 800hp. they cost 40k to purchase. but it's lots cheaper than building an 800hp engine bit by bit. they do not supply driveline parts, just the engine, so you're going to have to fork out somemore.
  18. Jet-33, these are the stock ones which came off when i put on the HKS ones. if you still want them i can sell them to u. not sure if they go on a GTS-t though. might need to ask the people on the forums about that.
  19. i'm running power fc and avc-r in my car. was told that the power fc's boost controller does not control boost as well as the avc-r. and yes i think they do their things separately.
  20. i'm not too sure, and people, please correct me if i'm wrong, this is just my assumption. you will need: full exhaust, air filters, turbos (have been recommended HKS GT2530), fuel pump, injectors, most probably camshafts, aftermarket ecu, boost controller, better front mount intercooler and oil cooler. you might need: valve springs, retainers, oil sump (if planning track work), oil pump. also, look at engine brace, because i have been told that over 500hp, the engine twists a lot and causes a lot of problem. certain parts of the chasis might need strengthening as well, someone might know better on this topic. i think the standard internals should see 500hp, dunno how reliably though. buying an RB26DETT and modifying it might be cheaper in that you will not have to pull the engine out to modify it, but you still have to pull out the other engine at the end of the day, so don't think it's advisable, unless you've got heaps of money lying around. and yes oil coolers are a must for these engines. driven hard in near winter conditions, temp around 15 deg c, my engine oil heats up heaps in about 10 mins. it's just one of the problems with GTRs. try www.takakaira.com, they have all sorts of aftermarket stuff. you may want to consider drivetrain weaknesses as well, before rushing out and just upping the power. i think the stopping power should be sufficient, but you might want to upgrade it as well. you can never stop fast enough.
  21. hey kidd...i've gotten heaps of stuff put in. going back for more now. oil sump, oil cooler, oil pump. going to do track work soon so and i dun want my engine to blow...if u'll kindly pm me who u r, i'll list u my mods.
  22. he's my friend. i have known him for the past 16 years. maybe he can't drive, but that IS a GTR. he doesn't know what's in it either, so don't bother asking. all he knows are there's cams and teins.
  23. Maxx, i think if you check around, it's not the Evo that is based on the lancer, rather it's the other way around. and they dun share the same chasis and parts. so if you're using the lancer as comparison, it's the same as taking a normal impreza and saying it's the same as a wrx. previous model doesn't mean lousy. Jun's Evo 5 is still around, after 3 generations, kicking arse. if previous is bad, why is the GTR32 still holding the 0-300km/h title? why is the GTR33 still holding the 1/4 mile record?
  24. the evo wasn't designed for just going in a straight line. what's the obsession of leaving a car for dead at the lights? true driver skill is involved in the launch, but i would say that the person with the most money will always win. i would venture so far as to say that in a launch, the Evo will beat most gtst, i would think that a GTR would have its work cut out for it if it were to meet an Evo. true, there is the extra displacement blah blah blah, but power to weight ratio? stock for stock the Evo matches the GTR for power output. it's not too shabby in the torque department either. asian tuners have been telling me for a very long time that it will be hard to match an Evo in a century sprint. above that will be GTR territory. true, you can spit out stats like the GTR does it in the 4 secs territory n the Evo is in the 5's. pls remember these times are clocked by pros. how many of you are genuinely able to match the pros?? with the 4wd, the Evo is definitely a friendlier car to launch, and i would venture to say that it would eat most rwds on the road.
