MISGSR, the EVO 4 onwards is 2.0 litres. what you have is the lancer GSR, which is different from the EVO GSR, or the EVO RS. of DaiOni, the Jun Evo 5?
-
bryan...u from there too?? the car scene there rocks, but too dam expensive. some of the guys here should organise a trip out there someday man. i'd bring them around the garages and out very own (dodgy) autobacs.
-
Duncan...i agree with what you said about increased understeer, which was what i was trying to say, the turn in would be more difficult to the point of being impossible, i.e. the more hp, the more likely you will just drag the car instead of going to a proper track. which is mainly the reason we have the GT500 and GT300 classes in the JGTC. if you have a read there, you will see the NSX driver complains of understeering already, just due to having a plate placed beneath the car (weight restriction). from this, we can see that the Jap's philosophy is to build a balanced race car, not one with outright hp. which again brings me back to my question...at what stage would it be madness to race a GTR around a track?? i have heard it's above the 800hp mark. DaiOni, with regards to Tsukuba, the GTR34 that you're talking about is the Mine's 34 i assume? it's the fastest GTR around that track at the moment right?

erm..it's this place my housemate went to get his done. not sure what it's name is, but he told me it's in beaudesert, next to arespeed (spelling), if you know where that is.

how do u go against v8's on highways
rb26dett replied to playa's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i dun even bother bout them. everyone wants to race me. dunno y. even hyundais. -
i have never heard of anything like that. in asia (where i come from) all they have are just type r engines, which are your regular b16 and b18. nuttin too spectacular. your vette will blow that away. one example. i went up with my garage to sepang (KL track). it's garage r, in singapore. i was in one of their GTR34, approx. 750hp. let's just say the VTECs took forever to clear the back and front straights.

Munro, that's interesting. so basically what you're saying is the Evo 7 you took on was a JDM one? hmm....but yea 20k on a GTR gets you nowhere fast. How does your 34 do on the track?? I understand that too "wildly modded" a GTR does not like cornering too much. Of course, i'm talking about in excess of 800hp. My car is currently waiting for oil sump, oil pump and oil cooler before going to the track.

glad to see that there are ppl who like the Evos as much as i do. no doubt someone's gonna say u can't drive now....
-
hahahaha rigolli has a hell fast hyundai running on Evo parts
-
Acura. i have never heard of anything called a race vtec engine. i have heard of type r engine though. is he talking about that? what car have u got? my friend raced an integra type r with a 180sx sr20det + slipping clutch, still won it by about 2-3 car lengths over 300m.

atomic...i will be outta here on the 6th. this may get earlier. it will depend on how fast i can complete my assignment. on the other hand, i should be getting my dump pipe done next week, u wanna come along?? sms me.
-
hungry6, i dun think so, it was all right when i left it for the summer. ABU53, u sure u want that turbo n intercooler? presently i have a quote for HKS type r intercooler, ballpark figure only, 2.5k turbo, HKS?? what size?? think should be about 3k mark?? no quotes as yet
-
true. but if u had 100k, spend 50k on a GTR33, the other 50 on mods, you'd be whipping everything else.
-
Munro...agree totally with you. but i'm sure the Evo could be strengthend?? i mean the chasis n body made stronger?? i believe the vast improvement you experienced with the 34 is due largely to more displacement and cylinders. dun forget the extra turbo. have been following your progress with enthusiasm. doing a great job....kudos to you...continue to fly the Nissan flag high. one question has to be asked tho, was the Evo Aussie delivered? if so, u're comparing an Aussie spec car to a JDM car, and as common knowledge, Aussie spec is detuned.

hey guys...i had so much planned for the winter break from school, but unfortunately, got a phone call from home and i'm needed back there. will be in singapore from the 4th of june to probably the 1st week of july. have to go back due to some family problems, so a big SORRY to the guys i had promised to go out with n do stuff with. i'm really sorry guys, the problem at home is pretty big and it's getting out of hand. on the up side of things, i have just placed orders for the following parts which will be collected the minute i touch down. 1. Trust oil sump. 2. Trust oil pump. 3. Power 255litre fuel pump. 4. HKS filter elements. 5. Either Trust, HKS or Nismo oil cooler. if i have any more money left after that, i'll be blowing it on cams n turbos, so when i come back, my car's gonna be tougher. (hopefully) so guys, when i come back, i promise, i WILL be taking my car onto the track.

R34 GTR's Dominate Jap GT Champ Race at Fuji
rb26dett replied to Neil's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
i dun think australia has these races. i have been to a race in sepang...that was back in 1990's hahahaha. at that time they had the unisia jecs 33, the calsonic 33, but my reason for going.....the TAKATA NSX!!!! if i remember correctly, the car was rated louder than a plane taking off. man that thing made some serious noise.... had a chance to stroll through the pits...u'd be forgiven for thinking u're in heaven. -
1st comment: yes i agree that a GTR came in 2nd. but how many GTRs were entered as compared to Evos?? plus i did say gymkhanam, not like a track situation, although i'd place my bets on an Evo on a track with plenty of tight corners and relatively short straights. i have seen 1st hand what a tuned Evo and a tuned GTR 34, by Jun i would add, can do. in a short sprint, the GTR simply could not provide enough traction to beat the Evo. note the sprint was only 300m. the GTR came within tenths of a second of privateer Evo 5s and 6s. this is fairly common to see from where i come from. 2nd comment: yes the sheer amount of mad hp that the rb26 is capable of is very impressive. but, if u ask anyone from where i come from (asia), the world is not a straight. if it was, everyone would be on rails going as fast as possible. that is why i can say the Evo is every bit as balanced a car as the GTR. they have been built for different purposes. i have every respect for the 4G63 as i have for the rb26. and as i have said, top end hp, the GTR would blow the Evo away. but that is a very bad comparison. try comparing getaway from traffic lights, corner entry, corner exit. you will find the Evo can more than hold its own against the GTR.
-
bryan...the new Evos r 2 litres. i think it all comes down to where you do your playing...in tight situations, say gymkhana events, any Evo worth its salt will leave even a GTR for dead. you really have to consider their pedigree to understand why these cars are like that. the Skyline evolved from Group A racing, and later on, Grand Touring Championship. the Evo, on the other hand, evolved from rallies. thus, both cars were created for totally different purposes. from there, we can see why the Evo is relatively anorexic in weight as compared to the Skyline. if we consider their built purpose, we find that it's hard to compare 2 such cars. stock for stock, the Evo would outsprint the same generation GTR to 100km/h. but the GTR was not made for such low speeds. take on the Evo in a rolling start from say 80km/h and you will understand why the Godzilla is the Godzilla.

Difference between GTR / GTR VSPEC
rb26dett replied to MacK's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
erm....i dun see any spec differences listed. anyways i tot it was just the better suspension n active lsd that the v-spec had over the gtr. could be wrong. i think better engine internals only came with n1?? -
