  1. think the pipes look like the same size. if i'm not wrong, there is a factory ram-air directing air to the intercooler, works like a custom air induction, so at speed, the amount of air going to the intercooler would be sufficient, eliminating the need for a fan.
  2. the sucking, or spooling noise, is like a whooshing noise. the whining noise would be shaft play causing turbine to hit housing at high rpm, producing whine, which means new turbo time.
  3. i think u just answered ur own question...
  4. why can't i register an account?? it says an email will be sent but they never sent anything. how do i get this game to work??
  5. yes but petrol at 80p would mean about aussie $1.90 per litre!! how do they drive those GTRs there??? my fuel consumptions about 1/2 a tank for about 300-350kms...n i'm already complaining with 90c per litre.
  6. how is a wire mesh going to stop water? come to think of it, what can stop water reaching that filter besides blocking it off completely with a piece of aluminium, thus rendering that position useless??
  7. r32, i'm not too sure about what u're saying, however drifting round a course requires the driver to link a lot of drift techniques together to successfully get through the course. what i have described in my previous thread is known as weight transfer and is widely used in all forms of motorsports. it's not only meant for drift but to assist turn in, apex and exit.
  8. hippy...correction, the GTR lost because the front tyres heated up too much causing excessive understeer. i have seen the whole series, and i also tend to agree that he might have watched that series and felt that the humble ae86 is able to trash any car anywhere.
  9. r32, i'm pretty sure what u're describing is another technique. feint drifting applies to using the suspension rebound of the car to induce oversteer. what u're describing is hard braking entry into corner, forcing weight from the rear to the front. this puts more weight on the front tyre, allowing u to control steering. the weight off the rear makes the tyres sort of come loose and whip around, again an oversteer situation. in mid-corner, like in rallies, and to a lesser extent, on the track, the technique is applied using the left leg, allowing the car, if understeering in the corner, to gain traction and slight oversteer so u can turn the corner and not run into the tyre wall.
  10. black ice, i'm sure there's a much faster way round that track than drifting. the run is not timed so there's not way u could be sure, but then drifitng is not about lap time, but time spent sideways. he does enter the corners at high speed, which is scrapped of when the tyres are forced to travel against their natural direction of movement, which will mean low mid-corner speed and sluggish exit, notice that he doesn't shoot off toward the next corner as he rounds the double rite hand, as i'm sure someone who takes the proper apex would.
  11. hey bigal, yes he is a regular driver for the series. the idea of the series is to see which tuner/manufacturer has the best machine. there have been ferraris, porsches, mclarens and all the big name european brands in there, so far the japs are on top. each team has 2 drivers who take turns to drive the full race. there r 2 separate categories of racing running concurrently, the gt300, cars limited to 300hp and gt500, cars limited to 500hp. all the N1 and GT stuff u get for ur cars from Nismo and such evolved from development in this series. it's been awhile for quite a while. r32 drifter, i'm pretty sure he's talking about the GTR there as that's the only Skyline americans know of. (From Gran Turismo) as you already can tell from the in-depth knowledge regarding drifting on the website, the guy really knows what he's talking about, lol.
  12. are you sure it's not becos of boost? if so, might be time for new ones...
  13. the SO2 and SO3 by bridgestone are some of the best value for money u can buy. of cos u could go Pirelli P-Zeros...but they have less than half the life of the bridgestones...they grip like a rabid terrier tho...so i guess it's all down to wat u want and how much u can fork out
  14. it's not that they can't drive. they keep it in the domestic scene. check out www.jgtc.net. all the juiciest cars from japan.
  15. lol...yea get hks 2530s man...if my turbos played up on me i'll be getting those turbos...
  16. pumping the clutch could mean he's either yanking the handbrake or shocking the driveline causing the rear to break traction
  17. dunno for sure, but maybe ur turbos are on the way out. must hear the noise to be sure
  18. check if there's some sort of boost controller?? like a bleed valve or sumthing??
  19. took mine out. i don't want the passengers playing tetris on it while i'm driving.
  20. not sure. could be bob romano's. or you could try apc in springwood.
  21. i dun think u'll find any tyres for what u want in that size below 200. i'm using the falken 451 and they grip pretty good in the dry but i haven't pushed it hard enough in the wet to know what it's like. for ur sizes, i'd go bridgestone so-3 or g3.
  22. i think the suspension could be set up for drags but i think they're mostly meant for trackwork, increase cornering threshold and all that kinda things. but it's fully adjustable so u should be able to find a setting for ur power to get hard launches. fyi: the hks skyline had suspension that was too hard and couldn't get decent launches when it dragged in qld. had to have a set of springs made, so dun assume hardest = best
  23. hmm...could have been that....i got my injectors cleaned and installed a nismo fuel regulator as well...so it could have been that. my 1st thoughts were fuel pump...good thing that was wrong
  24. ride would be horrible. handling would improve heaps. tein are known to make some of the best suspensions so u can't be wrong buying a set of them.
  25. my experience with this was due to dirty injectors. but it did not take me 2 -3 minutes to start in the cold, just the 1st start of the day took significantly longer. got the injectors cleaned and now starts on the 1st crank.
