  1. is that the guy who has ads in the magazines that say they specialise in skylines?
  2. i will look into this clutch thingy. anyways thanks for the help guys. will try posting dyno results if i get any.
  3. oh the reason he's pretty quick with the power fc is cos heaps of skylines go to him to tune the power fc and he logs down the information after they have a track day, so he knows what the best setting should be. but then again, i should be taking the car to the dyno just to check if anythings leaning out. what kind of twin plate should i look for? hks? nismo? cusco? i have no idea which ones are best.
  4. my tuner doesn't believe in dynos. he says hp can be calculated by acceleration and/or 1/4 mile times. i have also been told that tuning the 4th gear doesn't help all the other gears. anyways i might pop it on the dyno just to check nothing's leaning out. on the subject of clutches, i have been told that i will not need to upgrade to a twin plate, as i do not want a drag vehicle, but a track vehicle. anyways, what's ur opinion? a super single or a twin plate? and how much would i be looking at? thanks again for ur help guys.
  5. there you go. not really that aggressive a look, but trust me, initial tests shows that it'll eat the evo 7.
  6. ok i know this has nothing to do with skylines but i'm too excited not to say anything bout it. singapore is going to get the new mitsubishi evo 8 in a mth's time. stock, it has 280hp blah blah blah. new stuff include upgraded tcs and ayc (active yaw control), which were what made the evo 7 such a killer road racing machine. most impressive would be the turbo which comes equipped with a TITANIUM turbine. this would logically allow the boost to be wound up to about 2 bar or 28psi with the rest of the vehicle almost standard. anyways, i really hope mitsubishi australia get their act together and bring in these monsters, cos over here we have like 3 versions of the evo 6, but australia only had the makinen edition and we have 5 versions of the evo 7. these machines are really unbelieveable and i have seen them give gtr 34s a run for their money on the track, plus they can do gymkhanas, something the gtr can't.
  7. hey guys, i'm going to install some mods onto my gtr and was wondering what i should expect, like the difference in performance, for example, would it be in the mid-range or top end etc... ok so far my car has: hks super flow filters and 3" catback exhaust. i now have with me: power fc, avc-r, nismo fuel regulator, hks front pipe and hks cam gears. is my car going to be noticeably faster or just maginally?? i really would hate to have a tortoise after all these mods and i wouldn't wanna be disappointed by expecting too much either, so if anyone has any experience with this please help me out. thanks.

    Skidpan Day

hey slip i got a friend who's crazy over the skid pan. didn't that place close down tho? i heard sumthing bout that place not making money so they closed it. anyways, if it's in feb or mar then he'll most probably be in. will ring u up when i get back to brissie.
  9. i'll be coming back to singapore every 6 mths n will be able to take your orders then. are you saying that advancing the cam timing would destroy the turbos? i don't understand what you meant by shuffle. anyways, defi-link gauges are not cheap here either becos u need to buy the computer thingie that records the gauges' activity n plays them back. without the comp, the gauges won't work. anyway, let me noe wat u're looking at n i'll see if i can get some quotes.
  10. yea luke was telling me about gavin too. sorry but i do not have his contact details, could anyone help me out? also, he's on the coast rite? i'm kinda looking for someone in the brisbane city area. i know of only chapman n chapman who are good around skylines and would like to know if there are more mechanics who know their way around an rb26. anyways thanks nismogirl for that info.
  11. hey guys need some help on this subject. as some of you know, i'm driving a gtr 33 and have gotten the following parts to install on my car when i come back to oz. power fc, avc-r, nismo fuel regulator, hks front pipe and hks cam pulleys. anyone knows of a respectable tuner who will not blow my engine while advancing the duration of my standard cams pls let me know. i need a tuner who knows what he is doing with a gtr so that i will be able to extract maximum hp with the mods i have. thanks in advance.
  12. oh ya...he's not too good at driving the car. he used to drive an auto beemer and it's the 1st time he's been in sumthing manual over 280bhp, so take it easy on him. n on the beating him in a drag, he probably didn't know the drag was on. he's kind of unaware of his surroundings most of the time.
  13. hey guys just to confirm some things. yes he's asian. yes it's a gtr. he's my friend from singapore so dun make things too difficult for him. it's his 1st year in perth and he's in uwa. name's andrew so go up tok to him if u wanna. tell him his fren in brissie sent u. haha. btw i was in perth studying last year. pity didn't do much cruising with u guys. but i think he's dying for a cruise so talk to him man.
  14. i'm not saying that v8s r lousy. all i'm saying is that in a straight shootout, the skyline would win. i agree that the skyline is race bred. that's what the engine code stands for. but skylines u buy have been detuned, not only to meet japan's govt. restrictions but to make sure ppl dun kill themselves. if the v8s aren't about racing as you said, then y do ppl do comparisons between skylines and v8s? i'm from asia and i noe that the skylines r about as good as japanese cars get. so correct me if i'm wrong but aren't the v8s as good as aussie cars get? even tho i noe that they have their roots in usa, they have been researched and developed to be an aussie icon haven't they? anyways from the other side of the argument, shouldn't you feel proud that they've chosen the v8 to use as a comparison against the top japanese car??
  15. well here are some figures... ferrari f360 v8 engine: 0-100km/h 4.5sec, 0-400m 12.6 and top speed of about 292.8km/h bnr34: 0-100km/h 4.9 sec, 0-400m 13.7 and top speed of about 310km/h and this is the gtr34 released in 1998, not the updated nur spec so it's not the fastest stock gtr available. i think that's not too shabby considering the engine capacity difference, and the lack of f1 technology in the gtr. anyway, no hard feelings but tot i'd just point out that a gtr might not do too badly against a ferrari's v8.
  16. i agree that both cars have their good points and that the article may be biased. but performance figures speak for themselves. how'd a stock v8 do against a skyline in the quarter mile? n u've asked me to compare a stock skyline against a ferrari. i know the skyline would get trashed, but how'd about putting a stock holden or ford against a ferrari? wouldn't it get trashed? anyway, there are ferraris, corvettes and mclaren f1 gtrs in the japanese grand touring championship and i don't see them on the podium. i know i may be biased against the v8s but i can honestly say i've ridden in a holden hsv n it didn't do much for me, but that's just me. if it's true that the v8s are able to hold their own in a race against the skylines, maybe it's high time the skylines were allowed into the supercar cup again??
  17. the skylines r still trashing the v8s. check out this mth's high performance imports. a 4 door skyline with 8 year old technology still kicked the sh*t out of the ford. :burnout:
  18. the 33 would cost less to modify. for the gtr u gotta get 2 of most everything. n the same parts cost more for the gtrs. dunno y. think they figured if u paid more for the car then u should pay more for the parts. but then again, if u modify the gtr, ur power gain should be more exponential than the gtst. so if u could, go the gtr. n besides, the 32 goes faster than the 33 due to lesser weight. not to mention 4wd...saved me a few times from wrecking the car.
  19. dun forget the arse....
  20. how about this for sexy??

i'm not too sure how the speed cut defender works, but for bout 200 bucks i dun mind trying it out. if it's like wat u said then my turbo timer's speedo wun work rite?(it's wired into the ecu) anyways still waiting for u guys to get a cruise going, or a meet up, or whatever. can't wait to meet up with u guys again. btw i got whopped by a red nsx...i was in 5th doing 60 n this red thing just flies past doing sumthing like 130 i think...by the time i dumped the gear into 3rd he was thru the roundabout(indooroopilly) and gone man...his exhaust was the loudest thing i heard...(in vtec man)....now i want a honda...:burnout:

the speed cut defender is just to get rid of the 180km/h speed cut. i wouldn't wanna cut any wires cos the wires r prolly there for more than one purpose and if it was safe to cut it, nissan would prolly have sumthing that tells u how to do it. n besides all major tuning companies have a speed cut defender so it prolly means that it's not too wise cutting up stuff connected to the comp.
