Are You Cracking Dba Rotors?
whitesky replied to Roy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
So Roy, are you saying that the ds2500's did NOT crack your disks ? I know there are better pads out there, and now that DS series pads are so expensive, they are a bit average for the buck. But, I'm willing to listen to any combo if it stops cracking disks. Last set of Dba's lasted an embarressingly short time ( the boxes they came in hadnt even made it to the bin yet ) I have a mate who has been thru all my troubles, and went to Ap disks (355 hatted ) with massive brembos, and has now cracked them too, Theyre not even 10 events old. Would be nice not to have to fork out for disks so often, starting to make me postal. I'm even thinking of going the opposite way, and going really cheap disks and just throwing them away each time. -

After a handful of events the Project Mu's are still going strong . R32 TT brings this post to my attention, about DS2500's being referred to as disk crackers by Abo Bob. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fe...ce-t189757.html How may peeps who have cracked rotors have been using DS2500's ? and do you think that the pad could be a source of the prob too ? -

Project Mu's are available from good ol Greenline and also Nengun. Pretty sure there will be more places to purchase them from too, but its hard to beat those guys prices. At a quick look just now they are around the $700 a pair mark for 324's If anyone knows any better, please share the knowledge ....... -

Thanks for the info guys, its a set of Mu's for me. Roy I disagree, DBA shouldnt sell the 4000's as described on their own website as "track performance" and "for extreme performance " and even 'Designed for the performance street and motorsport enthusiast", then sell them for $500 a set, when they simply arent up to the job. So in my opinion crap may be harsh, but useful they are not. Friends of mine who track some old school muscle run BMW disks at $70 each and they even last longer than 4000's. Luckily the boys at Unique Autosports have put some time into giving us some further options just like you said Roy. Love those Stoptechs but need to investigate them more before a purchase. -

I can add my same experiences to this thread too. I cracked 2 sets of 296 Dba's before I went to 324mm on the front of my 32GTR. I have now cracked my second set of 324s. After cracking the first set, I ran ducting to the centre of the disks, and still cracked the disks. So.... DJR81 like you I'm swaying towards the Project Mu's. How have you found them ? And more importantly have you run them at barbagello more than once ? I can get a year of sprints out of a set of disks, but as soon as i take them to a long circuit where braking from a high speed is involved, they crack, (from the slots in the 4000's.) Stoptechs are a second thought, but they seem to be about twice the price ? The most annoying thing is, that if i had not given dba the benefit of the doubt I could have saved a lot of money or upgraded seriously with the same dollar amounts i have wasted. Anyone else using Project Mu's ?? or will i crack them too ? -
Chris, please contact me regarding the money i deposited in your account 3 weeks ago. I have not heard anything back from you, and am chasing my parts ? Several Pm's and phonecalls unanswered leave me no choice but to post this.

Drivers window glass please, how much and is it perfect ? -
I completely agree with DJR81, you really need to have all your homework done beforehand, so it leaves less to chance, and less to get ripped off. My car was complianced in Melb and then i TNT'd it to Perth, a costly exercise. I bought it 18 months ago and there werent too many 32 GTR's for sale in WA Having said that, I later found that it would have been cheaper to get my complianced here in WA, ho hum. But I'm interested in why you bought a 32 GTR to import ? These days there are so many for sale in WA and i think people are hurting trying to sell them. There are a few bargains around. All in all your car looks very clean and tidy, so good luck

Stuffed (new) Front Bushes
whitesky replied to djr81's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yes they do allow rotation, they are solid mounted with bearings in each end. you can adjust them on the car, although thats a bit of a waste of time, as most peeps just max them out and leave them there. Yes dude, they are on the car, also have bilsteins, Re55's now too. Bigger front bar next and i think its all starting to get there. -

Hey DJr81, nasty job on those bushes. I've been reading a few posts tonight and came across you a few times, we all seem to be attempting to dial out the understeer on our 32 GTR's. I'm running these midori style upper arms now on mine, but havent been able to get the full amount of neg i wanted ( only 3 deg neg full wound in). It all helps but i was hoping for more adjustability. Saw you at Barbagellos at xmas sprint ( i was still running road tires as only just got the thing licensed week before) hence my 1.03 eek. -
interesting post guys. My 32 GTR and one of my best mates with same car, have totally inconsistent readings. I usually have 4 on warm cruise, but some times after idle ( at lights etc) it barely makes 2. I get a bit concerned and stare at it, then 10 seconds later its 4. ( irrelevant of revs ) Never the same each day. We have come to the conclusion that the standard guages are a bit dodge. The best way to put your mind at rest is to put in an aftermarket guage. I have a Greddy one on the way, will tell u how it goes. Dont sweat, it may just be the guage.
