  1. Ok, guys from Moscow approached me today. They have a "demo" version ready, now they need a brave person in Perth who's got a car DVD based Xanai unit (M35 Stagea or Skyline up to 2005). This gotta be a 2-step proceess: 1) we need to determine the exact version of that unit's unit firmaware and let the guys know 2) they will porvide is with demo (partially translated) version and with original firmware, if that person decides to load the original firmware. At this stage they are not willing to distribute the demo around the globe
  2. Guys, is it possible for me to lend a suitable harmonic balancer pulley from someone in Perth please ?
  3. Stinky Rooster, I can provide a camera... or two ) Sunday is good for me too as my son will be here (little one at 5 wants his mom to get WRX or Supra and race my Stagea ). the only one thing that concerns me is that majority of spare parts shops will be closed. Well, I know couple not far from me (O'Connor), they should be open on Sunday anyway..
  4. Hi guys, as we discussed in the thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/10...th-t203868.html , I've decided to change the timing belt (and few other bits) myself and I am going to use that as an excuse and host a BBQ I am not sure on the date, we can pick up either Saturday the 9th or Sunday the 10th, lets discuss it. I am in Mosman Park. If you know how to change the belt, or want to get your hands dirty, or got the tools, or, at least, how to operate a Weber bbq ), or simply want to catch up - you are welcome to come. My son s 5.5 y.o, so if you want to come with your kids - thats fine, we'll let them go and do what they want:) I don't have a pool, but beach is few minutes away. Ok, Stinky Rooster helped me with the following links : http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Gt...t&p=3131418 http://www.skylinegts.co.uk/Cambelt.htm Unfortunately, they are not for NEO engine, hope someone can help me and say if there are any differences. Also, would be nice to know, what exactly needs to be changed, except timing belt (water pump, other belts ??), where to get them in Perth and what are the part numbers (Should I just check Stagea parts thread ?) Lets discuss it here or PM me for the address/phone no. PS and I don't have much tools....
  5. As I said before, as a proof of their abilities, guys from Moscow are offering us a partially translated version. Install will be very simple, it's just a matter of putting a DVD in to a slot and I've asked for a "backup", just in case if something goes wrong or the car owner does not like new version. Do we have any brave M35 owners in Perth ? )
  6. Jap disk with AU maps ?
  7. I got theirreply this morning, they ask for nissan version...
  8. Sounds good. F^&% the budget, I am in
  9. Thanks mate, I'll pass that info to the guys. Now, can we get a copy (disk) of AU maps ?
  10. Great stuff mate ! And it is possible to connect external sources, such as DVD/DIVX player, etc - awesome. Do we really need an external areal ?
  11. Ok, I rang the guy. Half an hour on the phone To cut the long story short - they do (or can do) alot. Translating to English is not the main thing, they are aiming for proper GPS solution. They need to know if there are any Nissans with built-in Nissan GPS systems in Australia - basically they want to be able to utilise existing Nissan maps; they are not exactly the same as Japanese, but they are close enough and could be converted to Japanese format. As a prove, I've been offered a "demo" - they can prepare something partially translated and if someone in Perth is brave enough to be a tester, they will provide us with software and instructions and we'll be able to install it. My understanding it that at this stage they are not giving away complete solution, they are still working in it (they call it "dealer version" ) Good and bad news for S1/S2 owners - they do not have anything for CD-based systems as it is an old system but if we find about 50 units, they may consider spending time and money and do something for us. I believe that Andy has got much more info...
  12. Another option - I can probably give them a call and find out more My 2 cents - sending the units to/from russia could be costly, it will be completely outside our control and may take too bloody long, unless we wanna pay a premium price for DHL or FedEx. I hope we can organise something else, such as sending the chips with new firmware or something like that, but its impossible to say without talking to the guys. Also, they should be able to "teach" the unit to show something while you are driving, but for sure, it is illegal in Australia and we wouldnt do anything like that !
  13. Guys, if you need some help dealing with guys in russia, translate to/from russian or organise pickup-delivery in moscow (or in russia), it is quite possible that I may help (as russian is my first language , I have friends in moscow and can possibly find some contacts in krasnoyarsk).. and I've got Stagea S2 with Xanavi unit
  14. Oh well, mine is quite boring then - 3 first letters of my name )))))))))
  15. Thank you for offering your help, guys I will need the car to be in driveable condition by 15/02, this weekend is too late, I'm aftraid, next one... Err... Company wants me to be in Kalgoorlie on Friday and probably Friday night as well, so I might be be abck on Sat, 9th. What about Sunday, the 10th ? In terms of gear - I dont have much, probably just screwdrivers, set of spanners.. couple of hammers, if it counts And if people with the kids want to turn up, it'll be fine as I'd hopefully have my 5yo son running around Another question - what do I need to buy, belts, water pump, etc ? spark plugs ?
  16. Well, I don't mind to get my IT-hands dirty, changed a head on Falcon, did some work on my old camry's engine. It's a matter of time and security (knowing what I am actually doing I got a quota from one workshop, they say it's about 6 hours job, and they know what they are doing. but 6 hours = $500 just for labour, and i could get alot of beer, wine, meat, etc for that amount of money, if I host a BBQ To cut the long story short - I like that bbq idea
  17. Chuckie, if my memory serves me right, the cheapest option will be pre-paid 3 kg satchel, it's $9.30. You may want to add an insurance, just a couple of bucks or something like that.
  18. Timing belt, thats for sure. And, if am afraid, DIY it's not an option, don't even have a proper garage.
  19. Hi guys, Well, it's time for 100k km service, my stagea is almost there. I wonder if people can recommend a good workshops for me, pref. close to where I live (around Freo) or where I work (West Perth). Osborne park might be considered too ) PS another big question - should I change a water pump "just in case" ? Cheers
  20. Brad (aka R DIRTY 3 on this forum) ), avrahan - thank you very much for your help. Brad sourced some parts and they've done a good job, car feels different now. Well, now I am up for 100 000 k service :-)
  21. Sounds like a plan ! When I have some spare time (hopefully before next life) I'll give it a go, if someone can tell me which wire should be intersepted. The problem is.. I got used to drive +10 k, and it might be hard to change a habbit ))))
  22. Is it hard to install (and probably calibrate) ?
  23. Mine is S2, recently done almost 3500 km in a week. Was monitoring the speed very often using GPS device. Exactly the same result.
  24. Errr... Chook, correct me if I am wrong, but do you mean that we can leave original Xanavi Double DIN unit in place , replace only factory radio (strereo) and connect Xanavi Head unit to it ?
  25. Thanks mate, I should get (fingers crossed)back to Perth from lovely Kalgoorlie on Thursday evening, so if I have a chance I'll pop up to your shop (I recently moved close to Freo) for a chat or more then - free wheel alignment sounds tempting, heh ? )))))))))))
