With the federal govt talking about a 2K rebate..has anyone considered putting ther stag on LPG?...I have always been a bit anti LPG..but maybe its worth considering. A very quick look at the Gas Research site and I found out that forced induction and a large exhaust is a plus for LPG. I also dont like the idea of a gas cylinder in the back..maybe it would replace the petrol tank...anyway I dont know much bout this so dont shoot me down in flames..petrol usage is an issue with our beloved stags so just thought I would open the topic up. Cheers. Scott.

Auto Trans Holding 1st Gear
bluesky4me replied to bluesky4me's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I know its a bit hard to explain exactly...I will take the car for a spin and try to give some more info...to me it feels like the revs get to a certain point ( not red lining but with a decent amount of right foot)..the motor holds on at a point..it should change into second but it sits at that point..for too long then changes..I did read somewhere about taking your foot off the go pedal like driving a manual (with a triptronic)..I will try this also on the test drive. -
I have had two auto skylines, an r33 and now a stagea (triptronic) they both have had this problem of holding on to first gear for too long before changing. Can any one shed any light on this?
-
2000 S2 In pearl white. Neo, Triptronic. Has the tweeters in the A pillar and the heated leather seats. Standard apart from wheels, body kit, big zorst and blowoff . Has a nitros style switch that is has wires but I cant figure out if it acctually does anything? I love the thing apart from the cost of fuel to feed her, the typical wagon rattles and the holding of 1st gear thing (still like to her from anyone about this).

I still get annoyed at my S2 holding on to 1st gear when I plant it...my 96 coupe did the same thing.

For anyone after a nice S1 stagea.. there is one on ebay. There are a couple on ebay at around the same bid but this one is the nicest and unlike the others this one has NO RESERVE!. ( currently at just over 7K with 2 days to go) http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Hi guys, I came across this add on ebay for a torque controller. I emailed the seller and asked if it would work on a stagea. He seemed to think it should and offered a refund if it did not work.Thought I would throw it to the group as $$ is a bit tight for me at present, perhaps another stagea owner may like to try it.I am sure I, and most other stagea owners will want one if it is a goer! cheers. I saw a post about tyre pressure the other day and it remided me to go and get nitrogen put in my tyres. I had it done at Bob Jane..it cost $20..I have had it in my cars before. There are a few benifits to be had by using Nitrogen rather than standard old air. Nitrogen is a denser gas.You dont need to check your pressure as it remains constant as it is not as affected by temp changes.Being more dense it may give slighly better ride and handleing ..... to me..the car feels more solid with the Nitrogen but not hard like it does if you put a lot of pressure in with air....with any luck it will help with fuel economy cos thats the only thing that I dont like about my Stagea...anyway if you dont change your pressures much you may want to give it a try...oh yeh having nitrogen in the tyres also seems to stop the tyes from flatening on the bottoms which tends to happen if you dont drive the car a lot. Scott. One more thing.. cos I know somone will ask..yes you can mix air with the nitrogen if you need to.

Hi all...nice rainy day here in Melb so I did something I had been meaning to do for a while..found a nice big open parking lot with no obsticles and tried to get the Stagea to to loose some traction...couldnt do it...yet a week ago I went around a bend at moderate speed in the wet and I am sure I felt the rear end slip a bit. Would like some feed back on this. My S2 has got a 4WD switch I guess it engages constant 4WD???when would you use it???has any one gone off road???... My HICAS Fuse has been removed (was guna put one in but found that one half of the fuse holder was gone).Any other S2 owners with the same thing? cheers Scott.

Hi all...The very dim dash and climate control lights are starting to annoy me. My dimmer switch dose not work..Is this the case with any one else? ( ie it was modded for compliance) or is it just mine. The lights on the shifter go on and off intermitently but having the dash display means its not realy a problem. Has anyone found a workshop in Melbourne that is up to scatch to work on the Stagea?? Cheers. Scott.

Hi. Just like my r33 auto.. the auto trany in my stagea seems to have a habbit of changing into 2nd very early when in normal auto mode and the opposite when in tripronic mode ( hangs on to 1st gear for too long ).Its only a minor gripe and triptronic mode is a lot of fun and I have found that short shifting helps..but it would be nice to be able to reprogram the trany to shift at more appropriate points..any ideas?? Scott.

Its just the one pop (smaller than a full on loud backfire but bigger than a burble)...I think your diagnosis of running rich is on the money cos I have also found a decent amount of sooty residue on the tailgate ledge which I think indicates the same... Thanks.

Hi all..My stagea has a nice big exhaust and a blow off ...every once and a while it dose a little back fire when backing off the gas...could this point to a problem of some sort or is it normal? Scott.

I have found that there are basicaly two types of people in the world ..those who turn the stereo up louder when they hear a rattle or a squeak and those like myself that get someone else to drive while they crawl through the car in a search and destroy mission that can only end in the elimination of every possible none essential sound. The stagea being a wagon will probably have its fair share of these and like most cars...what sqeaks in mine will probably sqeak in yours sooner or later..so.. I thought that we could put the power of many to work and start a list of rattle and sqeak find and fixes. So far mine is pretty good and like most cars, some noises tend to come and go under certain conditions. It's the ones that are there most of the time or that come and go on a regular basis that start to get on my goat. So far I have one somewhere around the glove box that I cant track and one in the rear which I think is coming from the floor panel that covers the spare. I am going to try a bit of gaff tape around the panel holding points to try and keep the panel tight. Its trial and error but I think there is nothing like a nice tight sounding car. cheers.

It was great to meet up with fellow stagea owners. A very nice day and very informative..... and I now I dont feel "like the only gay in the village" (quote from little Britain). Scott. White S2.

Hi all, dose any one know where the bloody stagea engine no is ( Neo ) ..my manual says its on the passangers side bottom..but theres so much in the way I cant see a thing..the car goes in for rego tomorrow and I know they will want to sight the engine no. Well I am now over the shock of the spoiler smash and have had time to take a close look at the new car. As well as the spoiler TNT also put some nice scratches on the car as well. They WILL pay ..make sure you NEVER use them. Apart for this the car is good for a 6 year old car. I was in shock when I looked at the back muffler....it's huge!...and I was even more surprised when a quick look underneath revealed ..it went as far back as I could see...at least 4 inches. But nice and quiet, just as I like em. Inside the car is a blitz boost gauge mounted on the A pilar ( have removed for road worthy)..a little clear "thing" with blue leds was siting on the dash (with wires atatched)..the lights flash in sequences when you press the button ...just a japanese decoration???.....and also there is a switch with a red cover over it that looks like a nitrouse/aircraft type switch...I am guessing it's a hi/lo boost switch...guess I find out once I on the road. Anyway its good to be back in the club. Looking forward to metting up on sunday. Scott

Stagea Spoiler Repair In Melb?
bluesky4me replied to bluesky4me's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I'll be there...just dont look at my poor front spoiler too hard! -
Well it was nearly all good news..my new stagea arrived today ...... but my joy was turned to tears when I noticed that the @##@ from TNT had put a great crack in the front spoiler while unloading it from the truck (he unloaded it up the street and then drove the car to the house so I didnt see him unload).... he got me to sighn and left realy quickly without getting me to inspect the car...they shouldl pay for the damage but its a lesson for others to take note of.Anyway the car is great but now I will be in need of someone to repair the front spoiler. If anyone can recomend someone in Melbourne it would be of great help.

Personaly I think the idea is great ...not using the round tail lights was something that the Nissan boys got wrong when they desighned the Stagea in my opinion. While most focus is on the the front, the rear has been sadly neglected...I still remember the first r33 I ever saw in the flesh my first view was the rear and its one of the cars best points..but then I have always been an ass man!....if you can make em I want em! Scott.

Hi all, Well my car is complied and will be shipped down from QLD in the next week. I was just wondering if anyone else from Vic could inform me of how they went with Vic rego once the car is here. The dealer seems to think its a pretty straight forward proceedure but knowing how haphazard Vic roads can be ( I worked as a driving instructor for the last 3 years and had to deal with them a lot) I thought that I would find out how others have gone about getting there Stagea on the road. Thanks. Scott. PS. The Vic plate GTRS is avalible is from Vic roads if anyone is interested..I was surprised that it wasnt already gone.
