I have a quick question for all of you who use FAST. Probably been asked but didn't have the chance to read the whole thread! What years of vehicle make does Nissan FAST cover? Basically I'm trying to find part numbers for the V36 (2007) as I have no idea what brakes it takes (if it's a Type P, S, SP etc) as there is so little information in English online. I'm thinking it might be easier to ring Nissan direct and get them to look it up for me on their system to find out what brakes I need... just would be useful to have the information available to look up myself. Thanks guys.

+1 Never let anyone drive your cars. Had someone drive one of my previous cars and get into a stack for something that was their fault and blatantly stupid, it's not a good feeling. Also had someone lose their license in my old Maxima (after having it for only 3 days FFS!) and then after this, drive it again and nearly have a stack in a parking lot because they're impatient. If that's how they drive your car when they know you, and right in front of you - it isn't worth the hassle. Anyway, as for the damage, looks like it's more than just a scratch, can't tell if it needs a panel beater but if it hit a pole (or anything solid like that), then it's probably going to need panel beating. Best to take it down to some shops for some quotes in person, so they can see it for real and make a call on the spot.

I'll be cruising down to Geelong tonight in the V36 and should be in the city centre tomorrow afternoon, I'll keep a lookout for any other Skylines like always

Coming from someone that bought their V36 from Sydney and drove it back to Melbourne... I would recommend Nagoya in Sydney, got my V36 sedan from them last year in September and also dealt with Dimitry. He wasn't that great to deal with personally, had a couple issues with him - most notable was him trying to palm off another car on me after putting a deposit down on a car. Also never had the registration for my old Maxima transferred to their name after trading it in, and was sent toll notices for using the Harbour Tunnel in Sydney a few times - very painful. Had to chase it a couple times, lots of time wasted there. Was also promised the front grille, which had a couple cracks in the plastic, would be fixed - but never happened. So I made them swap that grille for another before I left. But otherwise was able to negotiate the price down a fair bit and got good money for my trade-in. Got talking to one of the guys that works there in the workshop, can't remember his name (he was from Perth and lived in Melbourne) - was very good to talk to and was genuine. Told me they were a good company and that Dimitry often promised too much and struggled to deliver - he hit the nail on the head with that comment. Dimitry did deliver on a couple other things though, like giving me the 3-year guarantee on parts, roadside assistance and other stuff thrown in for free. But overall the car I got was pretty much perfect, only a couple minor scratches on the exterior, and had a mechanic look over the car and was very impressed with it overall, and even today it has been perfect and never had an issue with it. Still learning new things about the car every now and then, makes things interesting when you don't know what the car is saying half the time. I would definitely do it again if I had the chance, though. The drive from Sydney to Melbourne in the brand new V36 was for sure one of the best experiences of my life, no number plates + freeways = heaven

I just got it sprayed (free) at my mate's panel beating shop when my car was reversed into earlier this year; not sure about the paint but it's a gloss black finish on it. Just ended up buying some chrome strips later that I cut to size to finish off the top and bottom to give it that midnight grille look. It's not perfect up close but it's pretty good, looks heaps better with the chrome on though.

That's not the reason I originally posted, nor do I personally care if his dad paid for it, deceased grandma gave him an inheritance or won lottery to buy his car - it's the fact he was asking things that can get answered by simple forum/Google search, and posted a pic of a TRD sticker on his Nissan. Then later he tried to explain to the 'pros' about his 'old school opinion' about how 'bigger rims f**k the engine', and plead ignorance because his mechanic that told him that and called HIM 'gay' and useless. Sorry, no sympathy here from me. The solution is obvious, do some of your OWN research before you put ridiculous stickers on your car, or claim 'bigger rims f**k the engine'. Or how to change gears in a tiptronic car, it's been covered how many times in this forum let alone on Google or any other search engine. Why does everything have to be spoon-fed to some people, find it out yourself and be pro-active. Fair enough if you said you tried to do a search and found nothing (if it was something not easy to figure out), but this? Geez. My mate's 13 year old nephew figured out how to change gears in my V36, and he just stepped into my car. Wow.

Holy moley. I'm not going there with a 10-foot pole! Anyone else want to try? LOL. I have to show some people that I know what you wrote, because they won't believe it when I tell them. I would of told that mechanic if he ever touched my car again, I would run him over with those 19" wheels and see how many RPM the engine would have to hit to mow his a** down. Thanks for the entertainment, you've been a good sport. Best of luck with your TRD

Getting Cold Feet About Selling The V
M34N replied to fcruz3r's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Not sure what your budget is, but a 2007 V36 sedan may be in your budget, may be worth considering? Good power, reasonably rare, good quality finish, reliable... the missus will love it. -
Thanks for the advice Andrew, pretty sure I will get rid of the R34 next year anyway - have already thought about turbo/super-charging the V36, after all the headaches I've been through with the R34 though, kind of want to shy away from modifying again. Been doing it for too many years, to start doing it again would probably drive me mad. Kind of why the V36 is stock standard, wanted to keep it like that. Actually knocked back buying a modified V36 when I bought mine last year (had HKS Adjustable Coilovers, Project Mu brakes/rotors, 5Zigen exhaust), just didn't want the hassles with getting defected or anything. Decisions, decisions...

For the 4th time now, care to explain how 'bigger rims f**k the engine'? It may make a car slower, but WHERE does it state ANYTHING about causing engine problems? Handling problem, yes; it is NOT going to cause a piston to come flying out of your bonnet because you put 18" wheels on a car with 16" wheels standard. Seriously, can this get moved to the Wasteland already for lulz?
-
Simple internet/forum search will cover all your questions anyway, so to come on here and ask these questions when they are already covered is kind of redundant anyway. As for the 'bigger rims f**k the engine' comment, care to elaborate to one of the 'pros' how that works? That one really has me intrigued, for someone who doesn't know how to change a gear in a tiptronic, or what TRD means, you seem to be very knowledgeable on the mechanical side of things.

V36 Fuel Economy - Best 'range To Empty' Of 643Kms
M34N replied to Haxorz's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Well to confirm, here's a table showing the transmission each V36 model came out with: Model Years Standard Optional 250GT sedan 2006– 5-speed automatic - 350GT sedan 2006–2008 5-speed automatic - 370GT coupe 2007–2008 5-speed automatic 6-speed manual (Type S, Type SP) 370GT coupe 2008– 7-speed automatic 6-speed manual (Type S, Type SP) 370GT sedan 2008– 7-speed automatic - 370GT crossover 2009– 7-speed automatic - -
V36 Fuel Economy - Best 'range To Empty' Of 643Kms
M34N replied to Haxorz's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
The 3.7L VQ37VHR has VVEL (Variable Valve Event Lift) which improves fuel efficiency theoretically, has slightly more power and a smoother torque curve over the 3.5L VQ35HR, and also gains an extra 2 gears (5-speed vs. 7-speed automatic). Should be more fuel efficient in my understanding, but I think the 3.7L weighs more than the 3.5L (can't confirm 100% but my understanding is the 370GT weighs an extra 50kg over the 350GT in my research), has a higher compression ratio (11.0:1 in the VQ37 vs. 10.6:1 in the VQ35), basically identical 0-100 times though. Kind of hard to say if one has better fuel efficiency though, theoretically the 3.7L should be better especially cruising over longer distances and sitting in a higher gear (7th) than the 3.5L would be in 5th gear. The extra weight in the car may cause a problem though, but again not sure if that is accurate or not. -
Never hear an audio welcome message when I start the car up, usually it just does its "ding ding" noise and that's it, but the woman never speaks. Maybe she doesn't like me, lol The only time she speaks to me is if my Bluetooth disconnects and the visual message also appears to confirm it (it never used to do this in mine, until I messed around with some settings and she started to announce it.) Mine is a 2007 350GT sedan type SP, with navigation and no cruise, may be different with the 370GT or 2008 onwards, never seen this error on mine though and I've had it for a year. What year is your car guys? Any mods? Any other warning lights (like VDC/SLIP/transmission/oil pressure/battery) coming up? Engine sound normal? May help to narrow it down to a year, specific type of car, features, etc. I've tried searching G35Driver and MyG37 and got no results matching this problem specifically, maybe take someone with you in the car to take a pic when it happens and then translate it from there... probably the most obvious thing to do, if there is a clear error message there, best to try figure out what it's trying to say.

V36 Fuel Economy - Best 'range To Empty' Of 643Kms
M34N replied to Haxorz's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Managed to get 670km on one tank from Sydney on my way back to Melbourne last year down the Hume Fwy (said I had another 50km range to go) - can't remember the L/KM average, but I know it was up above 12km/l at one point. This probbaly included about 30 mins or so of driving through Sydney traffic on the way out on the M5 too. Average speed was around 110km/h though, and since I had no number plates on the car it may of slipped higher But around home now, I seem to get about 450km in a tank - not much freeway driving, usually going 60 or 80km/h though, but I don't drive hard a lot of times, only when the moment calls for it. If I use a mix of freeways though, I can easily get 500km. It is, however, doing better than my old 2006 Maxima was, and that had VQ35DE (producing 170kW only) and a 6-speed CVT. So go figure, more power and less gears yet better fuel usage. -
Fair enough. Kind of at the same crossroad myself now, so was interesting to hear your story. Strangely it's so similar to mine, only difference is I went down the massive engine rebuild path, just now though the alternator died, fuel gauge is randomly not working and other small, random stuff going wrong. Kind of getting expensive now just to maintain (especially since I have 3 cars now!) so rego, insurance and maintenance on all cars is on my mind. The 34 runs perfect mechanically, just wondering if I've outgrown it though. I suppose the only problem I have is that the 36 kind of does everything the 34 does, but better. Except for the turbo, wish the 36 had that Then there's the cops, every Falcodore wanting to drag at every set of lights, the never-ending mods and maintenance costs... is it worth it? Sorry for rambling guys, been thinking about it for the past few weeks and wanted to vent to other car nuts who would understand lol
-
Hahaha yeah, it's hard to believe how they went from the R to V series isn't it, such different cars in so many ways. So why did you sell the 34? BTW nice photos Sheldon, love those wheels.

Posted these in the Vic 'post your ride' thread earlier today, thought I'd put it here. A couple pics of my R34 and V36 - figured it was a nice day for it.

Just took some pics of the R34 and V36 together...

ChrisB; parked next to you in Berwick today, was only there for half an hour and had to go - wasn't sure you would see me so I took a photo, thought it would give you a laugh Was getting a few stares from randoms that's for sure.
