I guess this isn't meant to be a poll? Only one question - more a question or statement? Anyway if you do have 5w-75 oil then yes it will have high oil pressure. Your oil is thicker, therefore it creates more resistance to flow so it creates more back pressure. Done done and.......done. OK solved. but.....where did you even get 5w-75 oil from? That is a VERY high viscosity range even for a modern multi-viscosity oil. 5w-40 oil is probably the best choice for a factory RB25 in Australia.

How about the vapour canister under the hood ?
-
cold(ish) yes. VERY similar to Adelaide night temps.

The baiting has been happening for ever (at least in NSW). My Dad who live in Toowommba drove into NSW and got a ticket in Northern NSW for speeding after being baited multiple times by a cop ........in 1976.

damn...that sucks.

Yeah I took note of the 220km/h across the line (a good reference point for me). Regarding the understeer issues - looks to me like it could run a fair chunk more front track under those big guards. But you've prob thought of that. I imagine there is no track width restrictions on WTAC ?

Anybody know if they will be selling beers at the track? OrR do you think I can take (or sneak) a 6 pack inside a cooler bag ?

Getting A New Work Car Sugestions Appreciated
simpletool replied to kralster's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I'm in exactly the same situation as you. Also product manager, going to keep my R33 (which has served me well so far). I'm pretty sure I'll get a Mazda 6 (2007 model) hatchback for around $18k. My Friday afternoon rant. Nothing personal here - but it might all sound a bit negative. ^^ I can only imagine Saabs are cheap 2nd hand. Nice "alternative" viewpoint here. But wow....seriously ?? Why am I almost the only person who finds Skodas among the most hideous car around? I'm sure if they had a korean badge on them people would certainly think of them as the ugliest. Czech was world class in the late 1500's - yet to recover. Although nobody can deny their knack for classy porn films made with fantastic economies of scale. Yep, I agree that Mazda 3 and use a lot of older technology. But they almost certainly prove more reliable when 4 to 8 years old. Mazda have also invested considerable effort into making both cars lighter than the competition and so they get quite good fuel economy and performance from basic engines. Which is actually fundamental "technology" from the future. -
I'll be there Friday & Saturday (with 5 mates from Brisbane too)!

The Turbosmart BOV have a 28mm outlet for Nissan. Looks like I'll have to measure to make sure.

Hi Guys/Gals, My stock BOV return pipe is split. Anybody know the diameter of this short rubber pipe? It'll make my life a lot easier if someone knows so I can order it from here. Said stock return pipe

How Wide Is Too Wide?
simpletool replied to iplen's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Not entirely sure what he is referring to but he can just run a softer compound or flatten out the camber (depending on what the problem is) if he feels the tyre is too wide. Most serious racing classes have tyre width limits for a VERY good reason. The GTR is a heavy car and loves FAT tyres. -
How Wide Is Too Wide?
simpletool replied to iplen's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Just to clear up the above. Since you have a GTR then you need to run equal size tyres front to rear - best to run the exact same rim and tyre size so that rotational speed is identical. You probably already know that. Then run the width as suitable for the maximum tyre that will fit under the guards without rubbing on full lock and usable suspension travel. I have no idea what this is. If you are running semi or slicks then 17's are fine and just as good as 18s as long as they fit over the brake package. If you are running road tyres then 18s are better than 17s for a given tyre. Obviously bigger wheels allow a bigger brake package which can be handy. -
Trent let you know 3 posts above. Reset the boost controller (high setting) down about 3 or 4 points. Just google how to set your boost controller.

Take note that the measurement is done 5m from the exhaust pipe. Typical test measurements are 500mm away on a 45 degree angle. Distance makes a truly massive different to noise levels. Sound level should drop around 4db per doubling of distance (assuming the environment is between a half and quarter sphere). But I could be wrong.

Bmw's Front-Wheel Drive Car Spied
simpletool replied to craig V8 taffe's topic in General Automotive Discussion
BMW did say they would never make FWD. Just sayin' Well OK, it was a spokesperson for BMW. -
+ 1 for the needing to drive FWD differently. Hell, every car needs to be driven differently. FWD still isn't for me. But it can be fun sometimes, I just don't like the lack of "expression session" mode. Sure, I very rarely use it, but when I want to I really really want to. FWD vs RWD might not matter for 90% of the driving, but it's that 10% that I always remember. Kinda like saying 99% of the time it doesn't matter if you've never had sex, it's the 1% of the time that you remember.

I've driven both a DC2R (a few times) and the base Integra VTiR and one with suspension mods and a few mods. All were essentially the same car and a good front wheel drive but nothing better than that. My ex had a Clio Sport which I drove about 50 times and again it was pretty good (and HEAPS more mid-range) but again it was just a FWD. I've also driven SSS Pulsars and ET Turbo etc etc, etc..the list goes on. FWD may be faster sometimes but it's not for me. re. G6E vs XR6 Turbo. I prefer the looks of the G6E plus interior (leather, black console, non-ugly instruments) and it's something a bit different. The G6E barely costs more than an XR6 turbo also.
-
Falcon turbo (FG series) Exhaust + reflash XR6 turbo gives you 270rwkw. Add injectors you get 300rwkw. Bolt-on turbo and you can easily get 400rwkw with minimal lag. All with MASSIVE torque. I've started looking at a G6E turbo (absolute bargain). Will keep my skyline GTST cause it is worth more to be as a toy. o Initial impressions of the handling of an FG are not fantastic as it seems too comfortable with some body roll at initial turn-in. But go a bit harder and there is some very impressive handling for the size of the car. I'd think with some decent 9" rims, rubber, sway bars and a 20mm drop the car would be pretty damn good. The dampers are Biltein units the same type as in the SK kits. The IRS rear end is quite good, the steering is OK but would improve with a stiffer rack mount. Yes it's a big car but I'm getting older I guess and there isn't much else. Otherwise an Evo IX or Megane RS The only real problem is the interior was put together pretty crappy. I'll probably take the entire console and door trims off and refit after putting some foam strip inside.

Probably the EFR 7064 will fit the bill.....if it ever gets released. The EFR 7670 seems to be between the GT30 and GT35 - so too big for you. AND you can have either single scroll (T3) or twin scroll (T4) with internal wastegate. No need for external wastegate.

[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos
simpletool replied to Lithium's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'd love to try something that rivals the GT2835 Pro S on the RB25....and was hoping it will be the EFR 7064. But I'm a bit suss about the super small ratio of compressor to turbine (especially considering the low trim of the compressor on this model). Well after reading an absolute sh!tload of comparison yesterday.....I still don't know because the 2 turbos that SHOULD compare are not tested yet because it appears they still aren't released to the public ->>> EFR 7064 and 7670. Here is what seems to be somewhat confirmed (sorry if this is a rehash). Some of this rant is a interpretation from the link at the bottom. Many of the EFR turbos are not really exact matches and perhaps deliberately fall between the garrett offerings while giving more response off-boost and a more linear response of at least the size smaller turbo (ie. GT35 vs GT30). The boost ramp plots on the dyno do not really show how responsive they feel on the street. From comparison with the A and C frame EFR turbos vs the Garret items it would seem the 7064 should flow between the 3071 and the 3076 and be more responsive off-boost than either of them. BUT, only a true test will tell as the 7064 has a smaller inducer than the 6758 and a low ratio ratio of compressor to turbine size. The 7670 appears to be between the 3076 and the 3582. Ahhh the 7670 vs GTX3076 thread...EFR 7670 vs GTX3076 -
How much width to you add to the guards? And did you think of going even wider ?? Or perhaps this is a secret?

lots of brands make flare nut spanners. I got some KC tools - they are sweet for cheap. Make sure they are derived from 6-point spanners not 12-point.

I must say from reading this thread I am immensely impressed with the efforts from the guys at Mercury. They also put in a great effort with servicing my GTST when I lived in BNE. A+ With 500rwkw at 21psi I can see that a touch over 600rwkw is on the cards at 29psi.
