I've had it 2 below and then 1 and now normal circlip height. It bottomed out often at the 2 below height on speed bumps. Much less (maybe a third as much) on 1 below and only twice in 3 months since putting at normal height. Bump stops should not be cut too low as they help if you are always hitting the end of travel. I suggest putting it at normal height, that extra 8mm will help a lot. Or get higher rated springs (I think about 10 - 20% more than the King/whiteline springs would have been a better anyway.) Ohh and I live in a back street in Westend, I take about 20 speed bumps to and from work each day at about 30kmh.

Ohhh the stupidity. First you start with the "omg....here we go again.... " line as if you know what you're talking about. Then present a post with 2 basic and compounding flaws. Flaw 1: You are using anecdotal evidence from 1 car. (Whereas plenty of people have had turbos lose their exhaust wheel running 1bar) Flaw 2: You were using an RB25 turbo at 15psi on a 2.0L engine !!! (This is NOT THE SAME ABUSE as running 15psi on a 2.5L engine. The shaft speed of that turbo on a 2L in not as high as if it was running the same boost on a 2.5L engine) So yeah, other readers please disregard his post. I have no experience personally with blowing an RB25 turbo. I run 10.5psi (as on my gauge) - no issues after 3 years.

Increased Road Noise
simpletool replied to Wogan's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You might want to only adjust them off the car so they fit while car is on level ground - so that you don't impart force to the strut tops when not cornering. ie. So you don't over tighten. -
The Giant Alignment Thread
simpletool replied to turbo_brian's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I'm no expert at all. But I thought for street you want about 1mm toe in each side rear (for stability at speed), and zero toe for front. (Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I was going to ask for when I fit this HICAS lock bar) Also thought front toe-in increased turn-in at the expense of increased understeer mid-corner. Toe out gives less turn-in but decreased understeer mid-corner (oh and increased tyre wear) -
Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them

Federal EVO was a really good performer in the dry - it's wet scores led to it's last placing. All tyres were explained to be very good (no sh1tters this year). So who offers cheap Federal 595 EVO tyres? -
Best kicked in sunroof, steaming poo on the seat story EVER. 5 stars

It's hard to tell but my gut feeling (and comments from USA) tells me this will look much better than the 350Z in the flesh. It had better because I was never a fan of the 350Z, especially it's proportions and that sad droopy rear end. Also interior is much better than 350Z which was crying out for better materials. More power (around 30 rwkw) and a bit less weight, shorter wheelbase and stiffer chassis should make it much much better car. My guess is this car is almost a whole second quicker on the 400m. In my opinion the 350Z was 10k too much for it's performance and interior - didn't sound all that good either. And those lights on the 350Z are no better than the 370Z. 370Z needs wheels with maybe 10mm more offset on the front and 15mm more on the back and it'll be a winner. I'll take mine in that "bubble gum" blue thanks. Also love the throttle blipping on downshifts AND that's it's switchable. I think the 370Z will redefine "affordable" sports cars again - and not a moment too soon. I don't want to trade my $10k R33 GTST for a slower, less interior room, crappy plastics 2004 350Z for 40K. I'd rather trade a $5k R33 GTST for an as quick 2009 370Z in 4 years time.

It's hard to say, but really you SHOULD get off. They are greatly stretching the truth and fabricating minor details to make it look worse. It's usual for them to change the context of an event. I have gone to a magistrate's court 3 times previously and each time the story was a large stretch from the truth - with some parts entirely fictional. Each time the Magistrate didn't listen to my rebuttals. In your case the police are likely hoping you do plead guilty as they clearly have no proof of your locked diff or if you have changed it or not after the incident. No proof what-so-ever ! I hope you pleas not guilty so we can see what happens - but I wouldn't blame you at all for pleading guilty. Note: A police officer has possibly passed this thread onto the officer involved.

What You Hate About Your Skyline Thread
simpletool replied to jakez88's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Easy (but not cheap) way to fix seat room for people over 6 foot is to put GTR seats in GTST - makes it much much nicer and lower. R33 GTST: My 2 big issues are: 1. gear ratios. 1st gear too short, 5th gear too short. (Need OS Giken 1st and custom 5th) 2. Tyre roar - just too much. Might have to spray with sound deadening. Turning circle is pretty good compared to Clio Sport. I find the ride on bilsteins with front sway bar on medium and rear on soft is pretty damn good for a 10 year old car. -
Suspensions Knocking Noise
simpletool replied to R33_Smash_Deamon's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I seem to have this same issue. I can hear the knocking when I drive - always from the left rear side. Have bilsteins in there. The play is coming form inside the HICAS unit - not the bush/ball joint at the wheel end of the rod. So I guess this is the same thing. Very audible when going over small bumps/ripples, sounds like it's falling apart. Is there any bushes or ball joint in the HICAS that could be broken? -
Selby / Whiteline Sway Bar Question
simpletool replied to zero'sR32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
you might want to hold off on the rear sway bar - they reduce traction out of corners and affect ride more than the front sway bar I found. -
you could foam fill the chassis.

I agree that the bump stops do come into play too much (mine is correct height). I think it's more that the basic geometry can't be any lower than that with those spring rates. If you want to be at the top of the tyre (prob 330mm from centre to guard) then you are lower than recommended and will need higher spring rates. Something like 6kg/mm I guess will be required for top of tyre guard height. If it wasn't hitting the bump stops the tyre would hit the inside of your guard - but I guess you have removed the plastic inside the guards?

Are My Calculations Correct ? Rwkw>rwhp>hp
simpletool replied to robots's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I use 20% for driveline loss and 0.746 for hp to KW. So 350hp engine = 280 hp at wheels = 209 kw at wheels. 350hp x 0.8 x 0.746 = 209 rwkw. In your case that's 220rwkw/0.746 = 295rwhp or 275kw at engine or 369hp at engine. BUT that 20% drivetrain loss becomes less as you get more power with the same driveline. So 369hp might be a tad high. Isn't this a metric society? So you have about 275kw and likely 450Nm of torque maybe a touch more. -

Why Have -7 And +7 On Standard Boost Gauge
simpletool replied to Astro Bear's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Off the top of my head the 7 refers to 700mm/Hg , with 760mm being 1 atmosphere. So the 7 would estimate 0.92 Atm , or 13.5psi. Mine reads just over three quarters from 0 to 7 when I run 11psi, although true 0 gives a reading just below the line on the gauge BUT each gauge has it's own error. -

Do you still need to cut the reinforcement bar at the front on R33 gtst ? I'm looking for a kit where this does not need to be cut. -
Int 1 should be the AFM, the voltage at idle is around 1.1V. The fact your car only revs to 2500rpm from memory means that it cannot find a signal from the AFM. Did you cut the AFM wire, run it into the SAFC then back out of the SAFC into the ECU? Throttle is also usually 0.4V not 0.04V I think. (I don't look at this very often). Clearly the wiring is wrong or the SAFC is busted.

Do Skylines Really Pick Up Chicks :o ?
simpletool replied to wilorichie's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Must be a southern or young girl thing. Cause any girls I know say they prefer guys with Euro cars or something new (under 2 years old), they think it's the weirdest thing I drive a Skyline cause they associate them with loser geeky guys or greasy guys. Certainly not a help with females. Although I think girls that judge a guy on their car and yet no very little about cars makes me think high maintenance pain in the arse and so I don't mind them staying away. My girlfriend and female friends do think it's cool for a guy to know about cars though, just not talk about them all the time Nothing worse than a guy who knows nothing about guy stuff such as cars. (usually they drive automatic BMW or Mercedes - I tell the girls straight away to stay away cause he's not real man, usually takes them months to work it out)
