  8. Yeah true but I'm pretty sure the workshop would of done the job properly re tension. I've been told by other mechanics that you would hear if it was overtension and to be honest the car was running queitly. Infact I was really happy with it so who knows?
  9. Engine/Car: rb25det Type of failure: idle bearing stud snapped, causing the belt to skip, valves gone yet to pull it fully down Factors influencing the failure: idle bearing not ceased still spinning freely, the car was cruising at about 60 through a town on the way to heathcote drags, timing belt replaced only 2-3000ks ago State of tune of the engine: afr's 11.5 with 203rwkw Suspension and tyres: stock Oil used and service interval: motul, only serviced twice as as only been in aus for about 8000k's 110000k's on engine General comments: just really shocked, I have heard of ceased bearings causing dramas but my bearings were fine so who knows.
  10. This is the continuation from the first set of corners. Then it has a kind of right hander that drops into some big sweepers to finish. Fun little track.
  11. I know the feeling at least the car and I am home now. Thanks to James,Ash and Jack made things a little easier.
  12. I was driving today and my throttle stuck on increasing the engine revs by itself. I turned the engine off and managed to roll into a side street. : The wierd thing was that the cable was working properly and the spring was returning the throttle linkage to the off position. I played around with it for about 5 mins and on the fourth attempt I started the car and the engine revs stayed at the usual idle. Is it possible for the butterfly to stay open even when the linkage is returned to the off posi? I have no idea what could of caused it. Thanks for any help or ideas?
  13. I saw your runs last night a couple 13.5's then a 13.1 well done. The car looks good too.
  14. I am running federal ss595 and am happy. I think they have great grip but am guessing they might wear fairly quick as the rubber feels soft. Soft and grippy.
  15. no nothing else, I better just drive it quietly until then.
  16. Thanks Paul. I did pick up on that in my searching but I didn't expect boost to go so high. I was only planning to have it boosted to twelve when it was being tuned.
  17. I have search/read about 100 past topics and am still confused? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I just installed turbo back system with split dump and high flow cat and found that my boost has gone from just over half on the stock guage to just under the full 7 which from what I have read I estimate to be around 12 psi. The car was fluttering a little in the high rev range so I guess it needs tuning which is going to happen as I am waiting for my pfc to arrive. I thought I may be able to back the boost off with a manual boost controller so I installed it this afternoon romiving the standard soleniod and with the dail all the way down but the car is still running a similar boost and out of tune up top in the rev range. What is controlling the boost level at the moment? Is the actuater boost level still working but just effected by the exhaust system? If that is the case does that mean the actuater spring need to be change for me to run a lower boost? Trying to get my head around all this is fairly confusing. Its my first skyline and first turbo so thanks for any help.
  18. pm sent in regards to a pfc for 96 s2 gtst
  19. I agree I'm not very happy with the pipe work as it was supposed to be a r33 gtst avo stage 2 direct bolt on kit. I wish I could say it was free. But I need to get the car on the rd so I can get to work and source a more direct set up.
  20. This is a pic of it. I had to use some of my original piping and didn't think of the directional issue until I had kind of worked it out. It's running and the out side is definately cooler but wanted to double check. In case it is not performing at it's optimium. cheers
  21. I recently purchased a second hand Avo cooler with the entry/exit on the same side of the cooler. Could anyone please tell me if the cooler needs to flow either direction to perform at its best. i,e in throigh the top out through the bottom or vice, versa. Thanks for any help.
