Damn.. Engine Rebuild Time... Let The Fun Times Begin...
BADR33 replied to BADR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
well mine held up till 7000 daily so there not too bad.. if i was going to build a dream rb30 i would need some kind of sponsership.. plus i do kinda needa start saving for a house... im gona spend 5g on turboing the car, engine 2500, gearbox 1000(if i get a deal) front mount 500, 3" mild steel exhuast 650, walbro 255lt/h 235.. i also plan to get an alloy radiator so there is about $600 -

thats what i was aiming for.. but the shear cost of a 26 head in NZ is crazy.. its cheeper for me to buy a running rb25det then to fix the rb30 with a couple of mods.. so im just going to have to go to the darkside.. just cant afford to do what i want to keep it NA.. -
i have an alloy pipe,, with cold air box. thats up for sale.. im in NZ though.. i realised its time i sold the NA and put a turbo in there instead

Damn.. Engine Rebuild Time... Let The Fun Times Begin...
BADR33 replied to BADR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
mmm yeah that would be really nice.. but probly just a little impractical for street use.. plus would cost alot of coin.. even just trying to find a rb26 head is turning out to be alot harder then i was expecting.. its one of those things that you see when you dont want but when you do you cant find one... -
hey guys and girls. my rb30de has decided to give up on me.. somehow when i was tuning the car it must have blown the rings on 2 cylinders... or its been like that for a long time.. not too sure.. but anyway its time for a rebuild.. this time its serious for my N/A rb30 block, rb25de pistons, rb26 head and throttles..(and pleninum for now. bring on the hex throttles!!) reground or nice large lift cams. might incress compression.. not sure untill i decide on the cams.. ajustiable cam gears, lightweight flywheel.. 6.1kg. heavy duty clutch(4th clutch in 30,000ks..) plus im also looking for alloy radiator, oil filter relocation and cooler. plus a few other bits and bobs as i search around. any other ideas to do while im rebuilding the engine?

r33 rb20e gearbox is exactly the same as r32 rb20det gearbox. the rb20e box would probly be cheeper and with lower ks.. plus less people thrash rb20e skylines... i have heard that gts25 gearbox has taller ratios
-
there is a couple of bad things about that. 1 is you will get water in your airfilter. the other fact is the longer piping means less responice. and youd have to clean it every 1000ks or less also it means sombody could steal your airfilter and in my own personal opinion it doesnt look good to have a pod filter visable

for NA cars. just cut out 1 of the intercooler pipe holes.. get some house ducting and run a duct to your front bumper. if you dont want to do any cutting. you can do a few little tricks with r33s.. i had 2 2.5" pvc pipes ducting up behind my headlight...

here is the sickest r33 4dr iv ever seen.. http://www.skylinesdownunder.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=54795 check out the link cus youll be amazed... i cant take any pics of mine cus its at the shop.. damn engine probs...
-
r33 head plus rb25de pistons =10.43:1 compression ratio.. if you deck the block 0.75mm you will get 12:1 compression. if my engine needs a rebuild i will be going for 12:1 this time. just need to find out if i warped the crank or just broke the flywheel/clutch... vvt is great. helps keep it nice and torquy. 25det injectors are a bouns. i have 25de and there running at about 80% duty cycle.
-
rb30 block, 25det head and 25de pistons = 10.43:1 compression.. well thats what the engine dude told me when he built mine.. you can get up to 12:1 if you deck the block .75mm to make up for the pistons sitting 1mm lower in the block then rb30e pistons. all though i dont know aussie prices here is a gestimate from what iv seen on your forums.. i would go with the rb26 head if your going to go the full hog.. cus if you spend $800 on a head, $800 on ITB, $300 for an adaptor plate thats basicly the cost of a rb26 head and it wont flow quite as nice. if i decide to build a new engine i will be going with a rb26 head just for the ease of everything.. although VVT is quite nice. put a nice lightweight flywheel on there. a good clutch and youll have a very exciting car.. even with a stock weight fly its very revvy. ill try get some vids when i do the 1/8th mile drags in 2weeks.

What Cam Lift And Duration Would You Reccomend?
BADR33 replied to BADR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
oh true. hmm sweet as.. i guess i will needa have a good think about this.. i need to decide between that regrind or somthing like tomi poncams but at double the price i think ill go with regrinds.... -
hey guys. im hopfully going to be able to get a hold of another set of cams soon so i can send them off to a cam shop to get regound. what lift and duration are you guys using? basicly the specs of the engine is: rb30 block with 25de pistons and 25vvt head. 10.4:1 compression. custom headers, 2.5" exhuast wasted spark ingnition. soon to be fitted: 2x xf throttle bodys and intake pipes or new airbox. plug in link ecu also if i do end up taking the head off is there anything else you would reccomend? at the moment im about 125rwkw my aim is 150kw+ peak power at about 6500+ if possible. cheers
-
most people either use power fc dejetro or link if they wish to remove the air flow meter as they run map senser. i have heard that they have stopped making dejetro though...
-
i can answer one of your questions, and that is yes you can do it with your engine.. but as in using it for parts.. the head will need to be modifyed to fit the block slightly as well. the others you should probly start a new thread for. update for my car: my link ecu has arrived, just waiting on finding a cable to tune it and for the car to be drivable again, its got clutch/gearbox problems. also have got 2x xf throttle bodys that i am modifying at the moment, then all i gota do is make up some flanges and get the hole lot welded up
-
well pretty much all you will need im guessing would be, na ecu, na intake pipe, na exhuast headers, and possibly na injectors oh and to fiddle with the timing. otherwise should be pretty easy. just find out what people need for converting an na to turbo, and reverse it

Does Gts-t Coilovers Fit My Gts?
BADR33 replied to Stealthynsa's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
of course its safe. most modifyd cars will have atleast 1 cable tie involved in them. it doesnt affect how it works. you just securing it to the bottom of the shock. look in the back passanger corner of your engine bay.. you will see a big silver pump thingy there. the otherway to see is slam on your brakes and see if your peddel kicks back at you... -
Does Gts-t Coilovers Fit My Gts?
BADR33 replied to Stealthynsa's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
2 holes sounds like gtr/gts4.. that wont fit. if your abs backets dont mount to your coil overs you can always just cable tie them to the coil overs. you just needa rember to cut them everytime you pull them out... -
twin throttle bodys? its been done on a couple of the rb30des on here. im just starting on it now. or have you got somthing else planned? i cant quite rember now. if you really wanted to try somthing totaly differnt. what about increasing the size of the intake runners? im not sure if that would be a gain or a loss. but its somthing i havnt heard about... also what about a thin copper head gasket? to increas compression even more oh and mb to avoid alot of blow by some oil restrictors? or mb thats just what you need for rb30s... i know i need some...
-
if its running really hot that means its running really lean? run some fuel system cleaner through it as you may have a block in your pipe or somthing?. but have you got your fuel hoses round the right way? that rev limit sounds like a limp mode. check your ecu for fault codes
-
have you thought about extrude honing or somthing. its where they force some hot abrasive stuff inside and it smoothes all the edges. i saw it quite a while ago in fast 4s or somthing similar
-
hmm sounds like a few of your are having problems with this setup. check your joins and make sure you shrink wrap em so they cant short out. mine has been running for almost a year now with no problems apart from screwing one coil pack but that was probly my own fault. but then mine is NA. i have done it on my mates r33 that was misfireing at 10psi on stock coils. changed to wasted spark and it went hard and was saving him gas till he sold it. my mate just did it on his and hes running 16psi and its fixed his coil problems. im going to also be looking in to those mitsi coils to see if they are any better if i can get a hold of another coil wiring loom.

here is a couple of things i have heard about you can do. you need a crossmember from a gxi skyline or s13. or just slot the mounts on the crossmember. or turn the mount around and drill new holes check out this site to be sure to get the right answer http://www.d1nz.com/forum/ search in nissan and you will find the answer...

um from memory it was about $500 witch to me seemed expencive.. but then it means it would fit well. a super high powerd na car would be almost undrivable on the street i recken. im aiming for about 150kw witch i have reciently found out is quite easily achievable with my rb30de.

R.I.P.S in new zealand makes adaptors for rb26 throttle bodys to rb25 heads. if rb26 ones are hard to find use some 4age throttles. sure you will need 2 sets but they will still work but thats alot more custom parts though... they make small air filters to fit on ITBs you would be lucky to find a direct fit kit as nobody really makes performance parts for NA skylines. i havnt even seen an after market intake pipe...
