  1. Okay, so this morning, going around a roundabout my my left front wheel makes a horrible crunching type noise. Now she: 1. Has a speed dependent whining coming from the left wheel area 2. Makes loud crashing noises going over speedhumps at low speeds 3. Makes a horrible scraping noise when turning right Any idea what might have broken? So far the suggestions i've had have been a wheel bearing going, or the shock collapsing. Anyone had this before?
  2. Brabus SLK on Collins St today, annoyingly with P plates. Wish my parents were rich enough to let me drive their Brabus.
  3. Maserati Convertible in pinewood yesterday
  4. So I'm having my annual boy-racer fix accelerating off from the lights on Blackburn Rd, and i spot a bright pair of HID's tailgating me. Shortly after that, an AM V8 Vantage pulls out and swiftly passes me. Now i know what standing at a urinal next to a horse feels like.
  5. Pics of the skirts? What condition are they in?
  6. Taken from urbandictionary.com
  7. To be totally honest, if i was shelling out the $110,000 for a car, i would want it to have the performance without the need for more cash to be spent on it to get the performance i want. For the same price you could buy a 335i, which would go infinitely harder than the porsche.
  8. Could be a dumb question, but is it really an undertray? I've got something similar on my GTS, i thought it was just to protect the engine from crap getting flung up into it?
  9. Dunno where you were looking, but try these and compare them to Aus delivered GTR's. VL Walkinshaw Brock Director People need to stop comparing HSV to the new GTR, they're different horses for different courses. The more appropriate comparo is HSV vs the M5 (as higlighted on Top Gear when they tested the current R8) Both are hi-po luxo sedans, both put out 370kw. The difference is the W427 puts out more torque (640nm v 520nm) and costs $150k v $240k. Hell, for that price you could buy the HSV and a 3 series turbo coupe and it would only cost about $10k more than an M5. So when you compare the fact that a more powerful car than an M5 is available for $90k less, i'd say it definately worth the pricetag. Check it here. http://youtube.com/watch?v=qn7Z-iLa8h0
  10. Not quite. Bigger engine, harder suspension, other differences. Looks the same (because porsche have the imagination of a stubby holder), but engineered to fill the gap between the boxster and the 911.
  11. Right, so my 100k service is coming up. I've searched around, but i'm driving a 25DE auto. Is there anything different from a turbo service that needs to be done? My timing belt was done at a stealership at 56k, will it need to be done again to get to the bearings?
  12. That's the one, my head hurt while reading that. So much so that i forgot right from left. But still, what he said was correct, i just made an ass of myself too.
  13. 300C Limo on Blackburn Rd this arvo, thing was longer than an elephants appendage.
  14. geez dude, investigate the two keys to the left of the 'm' Yeah, that's the kit, but it doesn't come in gts form unfortunately.
  15. m3gtr, i don't think comparing HSV with the GTR or the 911 is a fair measure. Where the porsche and the nissan are track focused, hi-po racers, HSV build an accountant's luxo-barge. In my opinion, a fairer comparison would be HSV vs VW Phaeton (260kW V8, $115,000AU) or Bentley Flying Spur (412kW W12, $Left Testicle). In this environment, it becomes more apparent that the HSV is a cut price luxo-barge, in the same way that the GTR is a cut price supercar. Sure, it doesn't have the techno gadgetry of the euros, for $40k less it still does the basis of comfort, power and the ability to swallow large distances without any effort.
  16. HSV buyers are a different breed though, they don't care about the Nordschleife, or who wins at Ebisu. For them it's all about the passion behind the badge. The 427 is the epitome of that, it's Brock, it's Bathurst, it's big Aussie muscle. And that's what the 427 is aimed at.
  17. AE101 or 111 Levin, or an Early Impreza RX
  18. but why? Don't R34's come with 18's as standard? Why downsize?
  19. how the hell do you shear 15 nuts simultaneously?!?!?!?
  20. aside from the one/two peice thing, i meant the design. they look pretty similar. Are they the same?
  21. Cheers, most likely my searching, but i tried the F1 website, V8 wiki page and similar, without the name it's tough.
  22. What's the name for the neck/helmet restraint they wear in F1 and V8? i can't remember it for the life of me, and wikipedia's failed.
  23. W12TT actually. http://youtube.com/watch?v=r9PegYumqdc
  24. More rules isn't the answer here IMO, it's better driver training (make getting a license something you earn, rather than just sit through) and harsher punishments/better enforcement. Pouring rain on the freeway yesterday, i pulled into the right lane to pass a truck on the westgate. Just then a twit comes screaming up behind me, lights ablaze and horn blaring (he was about 40-60m back when i changed lanes), and when he realised i was hemmed in by a B-double, tries to pass me in the emergency lane. He would have had a decent crack too, if there wasn't a bridge coming at a closing speed of over 100km/hr. What people don't realise is the flow on effect from their actions. I'm 21, so i've only had three years experience behind the wheel, and i was left quite rattled by the encounter (at the time i realised that if he'd clipped me in his stupidity, i was going under a truck). The more nervous you are behind the wheel the more chance you have of going ballistic, so as the number of people an idiot driver freaks out increases, the likelihood of an accident occurring goes up exponentially.
