  1. Anyone read the article on Wheels from the Goodwood speedfest? Whoever their marketing guys is, he/she's brilliant for coming up with this. http://www.wheelsmag.com.au/wheels/site/ar...plate=domWheels
  2. You also get death in the high 200's - A mate's an engineer connected somewhere midway in the hierarchy, swears that he'll never drive one, esp in the wet. 200+kW + Live rear axle + slippery road - zero weight over rear wheels - ESC = 200+kw Coffin Not to show any bias, the HSV Maloo's a similar kettle of fish. To quote another friend (who owned one for 3 months) "that's just too much power for a ute"
  3. mmmmm.... deja vu...... replace the motor, i had the same problem right down to the hitting the motor. Eventually it will stop completely. haven't had a problem since i replaced it.
  4. Ummm.... just playing devil's advocate here, but exactly why are you planning on a defect? Why not just go legal? It still costs money to get a defect cleared, and chances are they'll find other things to be fixed for the RWC too. Hit the nail on the head there, which is why you don't buy just springs - you need the matched shocks go the SK package.
  5. This is not to suggest that coilovers are only for track use, but if you're only doing it to lower your car, it's probably a waste of money as springs and shocks would be cheaper and probably give you a better ride for street driving. The only advantage to coilovers is the adjustability factor and if you're not 'bothered about performance' you may as well go for a properly matched spring/shock combination and save some coin.
  6. Careful with how low you go, if you dump it on its ass it'll start to handle like a VN commodore.
  7. 568Nm from stock sounds nice though.
  8. It's a trust G-Racer kit, powerplay imports can get it for you, but it's hella expensive. Damn cool though.
  9. Yeah, but you could say that the skyline 'shape' died with the 34, seeing as the 35 is pretty much a 350z with extra seats and an altered roofline. IMO this thing is a half step back towards the 34 styling, the illegitimate lovechild of a 34 and a 35 even.
  10. ummm... not sure, but i think the wider guards of the GTR might guve you some problems there.
  11. Damn that looked like fun, I was on the highway going the other way b/w Geelong and Avalon - Saw the first car and went "mmmmmm..... 34", saw the next two and thought "wow, what're the odds?" and then the ensuing torrent of Nissan's was downright impressive.
  12. I doubt it would be that, my car's never seen a track or similar, the closest it gets to hard braking is jaunts along the Ocean Rd and surrounds Yeah, i'm planning on an alignment asap. What did the caster rod bush replacement cost?
  13. cheers.
  14. Can anyone reccommend a good suspension place in Lower east, SE suburbs? The sitcky at the top doesn't really huve suspension guys.
  15. same as it always did really, i've never noticed anything different, slight pull to the left when you're not holding the whell maybe. I did have a low speed impact a while back (rearended a motorcyclist at an intersection) - maybe that did something. Are these Fulcrum guys good? i've never heard of them before.
  16. well, they're the ones that were on the car when it came across. so presumably the original shocks. It'd only done 56k at the time, and they've never given me trouble so i never considered a problem. Is there an easy way to check the camber (i know comparatively little when it comes to susp.)?
  17. It's a green light, so putting a red filter over it will stop the green light from coming through. there's no red in green, so not much will pass through. --> if you want a blue light, you'll need a blue filter, to remove the yellow component of the green.
  18. Has anyone else had problems with their front tyres scalloping(wearing unevenly, numerous flatspots on inside)? I took my car in to have it checked out at Pedders, as i thought the noise was a wheelbearing, and they told me it was actually that my fronts were scalloping badly on the inside, which normally means a collapsed shock or two, but strangely mine were fine. He then put it down to cheap tyres, and that my wheels he'd never seen on a skyline before so they may not have been suitable for it (but i think he'd never seen NA wheels before). Long story short, one set of new wheels and tyres later, and it's starting to happen again. Anyone had this before? or should i just head back there, with the suspension report and suggest maybe they got it wrong, and ask what they'll do to fix it?
  19. try comparing your 33's handling to something else. i know when i went from driving a VN to my GTS, going back i found the VN handled like an oil tanker in comparison.
  20. In short, yes. In long, no. To get the best possible output from a driver in a ported enclosure, it will be much bigger than the equivalent sealed box. Having said that, there is an overlap region where a larger sealed box will also work as a ported enclosure, but it just won't be the optimum setup. Edit: i almost forgot - ported enclosures can give a higher output (anywhere over 3dB, which doesn't sound much but is actually twice as loud) but at the expense of sound quality. Ported boxes need to be 'tuned' to a particular frequency, which is boosted in volume, but the remaining frequencies may be diminished. Typically, sealed boxes have a tight, clean sound, where as ported enclosures tend to be more of a rumble.
  21. yeah, but i'd still take the Veyron. It's far less likely to fall apart once it reaches top speed, plus they look the goods, Vipers have strange looks from many angles.

do these guys have a site?
  23. Yeah, speak to a lawyer. When i got T-boned by an 'unsavoury' character (read - prime candidate for today tonight), the cop i spoke too said doing it through them would lead to him paying $2/week from his dole cheque for the next ten years. Get a lawyer, take his car. and his house.
  24. Chhers, that's what i was after. Looks like i might scale it back a little then, i had a good look at the car yesterday and i probably only need to lose an inch or so anyway.
  25. I read somewhere Nissan's don't generally respond well to excessive lowering, and then it said any more than lowering by an inch has negative effects on suspension. Exactly what happens? i want to lower mine about 2-3in but don't really want to stuff my suspension, or have a dog of a car.
