  1. Unfortunately I have to wait till I can get the time to do it as I work seven days a week. On the up side I have another car to drive around in January so may be ok then. Sorry guys. Parts are coming together slowly. Atp in the states are a big help, but don't talk to the receptionist, NOT helpful at all.
  2. If you followed the book to the letter then should be ok. I have this one and it is perfect. You may have to turn your gain down if it is spiking uncontrollably. Try 10 on the gain and set gain should be 4lbs below the boost you have it set at. If working on 10lbs boost then "boost set" should be at the percentage it takes to reach that boost with gain at 10 and set gain at zero. Once you achieve the 10lbs boost slowly turn up the "set gain till spiking occurs then turn it down 2lbs. Then turn up your "gain" till spiking occurs then turn that down two clicks, that should do it. Then get a tune for God's sake as boost will be coming on much lower in the rev range. After tune fine tune one or two clicks higher or lower.
  3. The 260RS is almost guaranteed to have a heavy duty clutch from the factory as the car was usually a special order. Not unusual and not something to worry about till really gets bad.
  4. Assembling parts but will take time as always at work. Will try to take pictures.
  5. Set your set gain to within 4lbs of your boost setting. Then turn up your gain to the highest point where it starts to spike. .5 lbs over is ok but try to get it to not go over what you have set the boost at. Now continue to turn up the set gain till it starts to spike. I have mine at 2lbs below 17lbs. Which is of course 15lbs. The gain controls sensitivity and set gain controls how long the waste gate stays closed till boost is reached. On a stock turbo the higher the better, with a lot more power perhaps set the set gain to a lesser amount so the waste gate opens earlier and boost will hit more gentily.
  6. Thats why I ordered the 3071 with .82 housing. I have heard too many times of overboosting with large compressors and small turbine housings. More air in means more air out so if it can't get out...........? From everything I've learned on this forum the matching of comp. to turbine is not something to be taken lightly. I would rather have a slightly small comp. to exhaust ratio than the other way round. Have you ever noticed how the standard hi flow will make much more power with the vg30 turbine housing ? It usually isn't the compressor that limits power in most cases. Exhaust flow is more important than compressor flow. And the concept of having an exhaust that flows too much is ludicrous bordering on just plain ignorant. The turbine is the smallest part of the flow path. It is the turbine that dictates exhaust flow.
  7. Final cost delivered was $1800. Thats with the 14lb actuator and bracket and exhaust flange. After I paid I found a company equally as big that was $150 cheaper. Anyhow, there's a holdup on delivery to make sure it is the right 3071. Will speak to them tomorrow.
  8. This is the same problem I had with GCG hi flow. Can't put more than 15deg. into it or PING ! Give up, the hi flow is overrated. I strongly suspect different wheel combinations were used by these companies at different times, hence the varied results.
  9. ATP told me to expect same power as 3076 but 500rpm earlier. Just put the order in so waiting.......waiting......
  10. C'mon guys, this is a great turbo. Was going to buy it myself but too fascinated by different turbo.
  11. to a degree pressure maps and numbers can get you close but throughout time man has always fallen back on the age old way, "suck it and see". Personally, I'm not a big fan of instant boost, which is why I've steered slowly away from small A/R turbines as they just run out of puff too early. I'm told the 3076 with .63 housing will give brilliant results but I know it will be limited by the small housing and stop around the 250-260kw mark. Besides, if the car is barely moving and hits boost hard it's wheel spin city......instantly. No, I think the .82 housing will be perfect but, the compressor, now, thats another story. Guess I'll find out soon enough.
  12. OK, email sent. Will wait for Geoff to get back to me but it looks like he only does RB26 setups.
  13. Thanks Disco, will do that right now. Damn it, keep thinking about the 3076. If boost comes on too early with the 3071 then it will be wheel spin city. But what if the smaller 71 comp. wheel needs to really get spinning as in lots of revs to move enough air to make the torque and power I'm after.? Shit, double shit.
  14. As an aside, has some of you older posters remembered when a hi flow was just the ants pants ? Now there are so many choices, fantastic. I can still remember Martin Donnen putting a GT25 on a R33 and proudly gloating of it's 210kws.
  15. Good enough then, I'll get flanges from there just in case. No need to worry that way. Yes, 250kws will be just fine, 270 a bonus. Getting back to my original post, I want to be able to run more timing with the cooler intake charge which I can't do with the high flow for whatever reason. Is it a dud ? who cares, it's gone. Will take a couple of weeks to get everything together as in lines and stuff but a new intake pipe, silicone connectors, clamps and a large air cleaner to help it breathe. Was always going to make a new air box anyway so may as well do it now. Bare in mind I'm a bit of a fussy old bastard so all has to be right before the final tune.
  16. YOUR KIDDING !!! Three phone calls man, come on, just three. Competition is a good thing. Make sure you tell those idiots how cheap you got it done.
  17. OK, first thing Monday I'll be putting the order in and it should be here next day. I'll try to make a story out of it, lots of photos. I'll get all the fittings over here but the actuator from them. Though I have seen a beautiful machined actuator on another site but can't remember where, damn. They should have a flange and new bolts, studs. Can anybody think of anything else ?
  18. Yeah, I changed from a split to a bell on my hi flow and gained two kws, woo hoo (sarcastic). Just kidding, I've always believed the bell is a far superior design. No resistance to flow. So as a final order I'm getting the 3071 IW non cropped 60mm turbine with 2.75 comp. inlet. That inlet should make plumbing easier. Now, this should make 250-270rwkw and boost earlier than the 3076, ok ? Please tell me this is right. I can't believe how big a decision this is.
  19. I agree Cubes but even then you have to push them. My GCG hi flow is useless at 220kws 17.5lbs boost. 6 different tuners and a couple of grand wasted, I'm over it. 3071 .82 here I come. Can somebody access ATP turbo and give me their honest opinion. There is two different .82 housings. One is the Garrett but the other is like a flat machined housing with the waste gate hole and then you buy the flapper and v-band module separately.
  20. Wrong side me thinks.
  21. I think the .87 if you could get it would be over the top. On the ATP website there is a 3071 with anti surge intake. Now that looks interesting. What effect would it have. Also, should I get the recessed waste gate as per normal or the flapper module that bolts to the turbine housing. Can someone look for me ? My wife is an executive with DHL and can arrange delivery from Hayward, CA, USA. If I can get these for a good price I may buy a couple at a time. Spoke to Yavuz at Unigroup and he seems to think the 3071 with .63 will make 250-260rwkw. I just can't see it with Lithium and Cubes needing a .82 for their 270rwkw. So do I go the anti-surge 3071 with .82 or .63 ?
  22. So the ultimate turbo working with stock ex. manifold at 6,500rpm max revs, no choking and therefore no boost problems would be..........?
  23. I was thinking ATP but wasn't sure. Thanks Dave. Don't suppose you know what fittings and actuator I should ask for do you ? I figure I should just ask them on the phone.
