4 bar of oil pressure is plenty considering Nissan manual says for a RB26DETT, the pressure should be 1.5 at 950 rpm when the oil is warm.

yeah, definately the sendor unit, i had the same problem till i got a new sendor from Nissan. mine reads at 2-3 idle, cold at around 6, and it hits 4 bar when my rev goes near 2000 rpm.

Hi mate, im pretty interested in the HKS dump pipe kit, just a few questions, are they real genuine HKS? do they bolt straight onto a R33 GTR? and how long are they? do they go straight to the cat or not? also, the Apexi pods, do they bolt onto a GTR R33? i dont need to run any more adaptors or anything, do i? im in Brisbane as well, so if everything works out, i will come around and pick them up. cheers mate!

thanx guys, problem solved, its the sendor unit broken, which was leaking oil through it. then put on a mechanical oil pressure gauge, it was reading 2.5 bar hot idling, which is fine.

yeah, i would say the sendor unit a swell. mine is sitting just above 0 as well when it idles hot. then pulled the sendor unit apart, it was actually leaking oil through it. then put on a mechanical oil pressure gauge, and the reading is on 2.5 bar hot idling, which is fine. apparently according to Nissan, when the rpm is at 950, the oil pressure should be on 1.5 bar hot, which proved mine was fine.

as far as i know, they are not very accurate at all, specially with the oil pressure one, the sender unit tends to give funny readings over times, which could cause quite a bit of problem. if u can get aftermarket ones, definately go with them.

thanx for your input guys! started up my car this morning and the oil pressure was up to bloody 6. then it drops back to around 3. Then during hot times in the afternoon after ive been driving it, it sits at just above 1. it got me worried coz someone was telling me basically my engine is stuffed and a rebuild is needed. but i dont see any smoke or nothing coming out of the zorst, also the engine runs really smoothly without any miss firing or undue noise. so i guess its all right then. getting the car checked out next week, so ill know for sure. at the mean time, i was told 1 bar is the low end of ok zone, as long as the oil pressure light is not on. again, as someone said, it could be the sensor or gauge, or even bad oil. any way, ill let u guys know. cheers!

well, mine is really low atm, it sits on 2 when its idling( sometimes even below 2 if its hot), it comes up when the rev is up, then drops back down. really hope my oil pump is not f**ked, since i havent got enough money for a engine rebuild.

I think its actually better to learn to drive manual in a reasonable torquey car, not as easy to stall as cars like echo since skylines L6 have so much more torque. if you drive well enough, you can actually start moving the car without even hitting the throttle, just control the clutch. so i think you should go for a manual, and it will only take you a little while to get used to it. my opnion any way.
