If it's a shared circuit and the issue is further up the line yes and it would also cause the weirdness happening with everything else on that circuit. If i can remember where i left the r33 wiring diagrams i have i'll have a look tonight/tomorrow and see if anything stands out to me. *edit a small short or faulty switch in the circuit could also do the same thing.

I had a the similar issues with my ute, one tail light was off and on and doing weird shit. After tearing the entire rear wiring out of the thing I discovered it was the high/low beam switch earth which was/is on the same circuit. Have a look and see if there's anything else on that circuit.. if so check it out.
