A Click Sound Coming From The Rear
madbung replied to SinistR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah, thumb tack, nail anything that shouldn't be there. If you jack the car up and rotate the wheels just rub your hand over the tread surface and check nothings sticking out. doing this will also eliminate an egg (deformed lump) or flat spot in your tyre as the problem. -
A Click Sound Coming From The Rear
madbung replied to SinistR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
you'd think so but no.....you only notice it when taking off or slowing...could be because at speed the sound will change from a click to a continuous noise and just blends into the drone/road noise with everything else. Never know your luck. -

I got my licence there..lets say a little while back (ok it was over 20yrs ago) and it was so slack. .01 achohol limit and 12mth on P's, then full licence and .08 happy hour time. Don't tell me w.a is no longer the state of free wheeling outlaws I used to love..where will I retire to now? -

I assume the first thing you did was inspect your tyres to make sure you haven't picked up anything? -
Water Leak Drivers Side Footwell
madbung replied to MyStag260's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Next time it rains, remove scuff plate, kick panel and lift up carpet. You should be able to see the direction it's coming from. Or do the same and hit a carwash or garden hose. Do Stags have a drain plug in the footwell, if so and it's missing or damaged you could be scooping water in as you drive. Damn surprised it's not the heater core, almost always is with passenger side foot well puddles. But as said you'd smell the coolant and if you drove a distance with the heater on your pudlle would be warm. -
Stripping Out A Car... But Keeping It Road Legal.
madbung replied to R33GTS25's topic in General Automotive Discussion
As long as you retain the original safety features and your seating capacity matches your rego, go for it. I did have trouble getting an r.c.w last year without the roof lining installed, that was a 64 Studebaker wagonaire. It did have a lot of sharp edges, rails, ect exposed.. Modern cars may be alright...they seem pretty good underneath. -

Why bother with the insults in the first place if you don't care? Designed in the 80's, built in the 80's and for me it looks from the 80's with it's typical "3 box design" roll down bonnet like most other cars from the mid to late 80's, interior, ect, ect.. If you like the r32 good on you, It's my favourite 80's style car even if they're starting to look dated ... Saying r33's are POO in this forum...Disrespectful? Just agitating shit for giggles? Back on topic I hate those turbo diesel 4x4 with bonnet scoops or mini letter boxes, I know most have a little i.c hiding underneath but they just look so "wannabe" to me.

Do you have the books/warranty card ect?

Could be an indication it's clogged up with grease/grime/oil ect when it absorbs the heat from use/engine it could free it up somewhat. Then when it cools it sets again again...so to speak. Get it checked out either way.
-
I wouldn't wait too long to get it checked, if it is infact the issue and it's disengaging either slowly or not at all it will be spinning at higher revs than it's designed to for longer than it's designed to, the starter gear could shatter or lockup causing damage to your flywheel ect. Starter motors use centrifugal force and a grooved shaft to throw out the gear, it could be clogged up and only need a clean or you may have to get it repaired or exchanged. You'll have to call around locally for an idea of availability & price. Auto elec places ect...or get a wrecker one. It's not a huge issue or costly, so I do hope you find it to be the cause.

Yeah I used to do that about 15-20yrs back I was running a bb charger, I'd put about .5 of a litre per half tank...very nice. It was readily available back then and cheap, but as stated in posts above it wouldn't be recomended for an unleaded car.

This is what happens when the line between ownership and ownerism get blurred..

Volks Vagen.......the peoples car Gives it a whole new meaning for me.

Nope you're not alone..looks ok on a ratrod, but thats about it imo. I reckon the mobile blackboard or when are you going to finish painting it comments would wear thin quickly also.

Starting Issues... Did The Autosparggky Kill Something?
madbung replied to madmoomoo's topic in General Maintenance
Geez thats a weird one....my first guess would be for some reason there is too much resistance between ignition and immobiliser. Check voltage each side of the immobiliser. Although as you said it does drive ok, so fuel system would be my next stop. Before all else, try an ecu reset...disconnect battery, apply brake pedal for a minute or 2, reconnect battery start, let idle for 10-15 min then go for a thrash. Possibly when the ecu was last disconnected (battery) it probably wasn't given time enough on start up to re-learn its sheet properly on idle. -
Unlike the ultra rare and and super sexy r32 gtst Lmao at the elitist r32 drivers. Each to their own if you prefer the 80's looks of the r32 over the more modern car.. furry muff good for you!

+1 starter failing to disengage.

Some people did buy Ho's as investments, I know of one with under 5000 miles on it. When the car was new in 70 they cost around $4500 now almost 40yrs on the best of the phase 3's can pull over 100x the original price. If you can find me one for 10x original price I'll pay cash first thing Monday morning for it. This reminds me of that goose who bought the "last" Monaro ever built & paid stupid money for it...Last one till next time ofcourse. Strange people these Holden folk.

Ugly and un-economical, I got nothing else bar the fact it stinks like a fetid ass.. Sorry I'm being lazy, cbf re-iterating the obvious. Difference between Bogan and Muzza, A Bogan will bash you for sport, The Muzza will mug you while trying to ask your sister out..then call her a whore for saying no

Help! My Car Starts Then Sputters To A Stop

You could call the racv, as long as you're a member or willing to pay membership. You'll be waiting ages for them though. -
Help! My Car Starts Then Sputters To A Stop
madbung replied to omega36's topic in General Maintenance
Very easy to do, screw driver and a torch is all you'll need. You could try blowing backwards though it, might get you home or just pick up a cheap plastic straight flow filter at the servo until you can get the right one. If you have a threaded filter then a spanner or shifter will be needed. -

That's sad, going to a meet where every one stands around and nobody actually meets. Sadly I think it's a side effect of the playstation generation, when I was young we all played in the streets or parks and knew every kid in the estate. It was a very social upbringing, with the generations coming through today a lot of them don't have the social skills.. reason being social skill are learnt through social interaction and become natural/comfortable over time. You don't get it free in the ps3 bundle, p.c or sitting alone in a room chatting online. As you've seen first hand, throw them in a social situation and they'll all just mill around until something happens....which seldom does. We've bred a generation of malformed/unadjusted nublets. Offer you're hand to shake and they'll take it as some sort of adversarial test. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of good-social younger people, they seem to be the ones who's parent/s actually had a go at parenting instead of leaving it up to the TV/ps3.
