  1. Let me know if you need any more help. My car has the screen mounted in the the drivers sun visor... Looks good and is hidden as the screens on these things are huge. Only problem I guess is if you want to look at it all the time but normally by the time you see a red light it's too late anyway.
  2. Unreal time, congrats mate Can't wait to hear of your stories from Japan
  3. Go the grade 4.5 one. You can drive the GTR as much as the Evo, and as I mentioned the GTR is nicer to cruise around in... although the kids are harder to put in the back haha
  4. Oi... my honda had VTEC... (I really didn't want to write this post as it's admitting I owned a honda )
  5. I can understand this. They are an easy car to drive! Everything feels in sync and accessible... the seat position is high, and everything is very light / power assisted. It also communicates to you really well, you never feel like you're doing something that the car doesn't want to do. I could (and did) let my mates drive the car and they were instantly quick in the car... The GTR in comparison feels very heavy, big, and dominant when you first drive it. It takes a while to get used to it and to get the best out of However once you do, it's awesome. Just takes longer
  6. It shutdown around april this year mate, no longer exists.... I know the main guy that ran it (Scotty) and went up there for poker after hours a fair bit.
  7. As GTST mentioned, I've owned an 2004 Evo VIII MR with 190kw @ all four, and now own a 97 R33 GTR. The GTR has much more character than the Evo, and it's significantly more fun just to cruise / race around in. The evo is fast in every way (seriously fast!) but it gets quite boring after a while. It's a car designed to go from point to point as quickly as possible and it achieves that really well.... It's great fun to begin with (as going fast always is!) but you get over it very quickly. If you're happy doing triple the speed limit everywhere (I assume you use the car as mainly a street car), then go for it.... as I mentioned earlier, it's not an enjoyable car to "cruise" in if you ask me, with the tight seats / short gearing / bumpy ride / sensitive throttle etc. When buying my Evo, I thought all of those things were mad but it gets very tiring after a while. It's always going to be a car aimed at performing well on the race track first. You'll quickly begin to hate speed limits. I've got heaps more thoughts on the matter - but seriously, you get bored of a car that only goes fast after a while... character makes a car If you have a passion for skylines, I strongly recommend you don't get the Evo. Oh, and the GTR will always be faster in a straight line with basic mods and in stock trim. The evo will handle better though, well actually it's more the fact that the Evo is an easy car to drive on the limit, whereas the GTR takes more driving skill. Low speed stuff, the GTR will always be f**ked though. If you want to do a lot of track work, the Evo is the better buy. Don't get me wrong, the Evo is an awesome car, but it's really aimed for people that do regular track days and want something fast on the track. BAMR33: they are a similar price... $30k for a R33 GTR and $30k for an Evo 7.... Hope this helps, feel free to ask anymore questions. I lived the Evo scene for almost a year and went to plenty of Evo events etc. Here's a video of my car from wakefield, when I purchased the car it was stock: Tommo.
  8. I hear the same noises from my steel wheel turbos. It's the impellers slowing down
  9. UNFORTUNATELY TONIGHT'S STREET MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO INCOMING STORMS http://www.wsid.com.au/subpage.asp?Page=Street-Info
  10. ^ hahahah Anyway - it's raining in the city and liverpool, i'd guess tonight won't be on.
  11. Yeah go to holden etc. I know mates that worked for those kinda places as "spare parts orderers", and thats what they did most of the day.. paid well etc
  12. I'll be there racing. However it looks like it's going to rain so I doubt anyone will be there lol
  13. Sounds about right. I've got everything you've got Kane, except I'm still using factory cams / cam gears / stock cooler / stock manifolds, and I get 290kw @ all four @ 21psi.
  14. R33 GTR Garrett 2860r -5 turbos RB25 AFMs Apexi Power FC Greddy E0-1 boost controller 660cc Nismo injectors Nismo Fuel Regulator Bosch 044 fuel pump Turbo back Fujitsubo Exhaust 290.5kw @ all four. I'm now going to save for some poncams and cam gears, as I'd like to have full boost a bit earlier (current = 4750rpm), and hopefully be able to put a bit more timing into it to make some more power. I'd love to get 320kw or so, which is max i'd like to run on a stock motor.
  15. I've got a 3inch Fujitsubo turbo back exhaust on my R33 GTR and it's very quiet. A bit droney in the cabin but nothing major Even the muffler is nice, not a cannon just nice and simple, one exit... let me know if you want a pic (I'm aware you said GTST but meh, thought i'd try to help anyway).
  16. Thanks very much for your help mate
  17. Good thread - i'm interested in the same thing. PS. If anyone wants to swap 18inch CE28s GTR offset for 18inch TE37s, let me know haha
  18. I went through GIO's new custom car insurance section today and got my policy for $1.7k (R33 GTR, 24 yr old, $32k agreed value). Justcars, in comparison, were $2.2k. The link to contact them is here: http://www.gio.com.au/gio/promotion/custom...ance_email.html Highly recommended!
  19. Hi ike, A tad off topic but the question has been answered now. How can one subscribe to this magazine? Is there a re-seller in AUS? Thanks, Tommo
  20. Thanks mate! Catch you round
  21. Bug and tar remover is effective stuff!
  22. Yeah, i've got a PFC, and aftermarket injectors / fuel reg. No chance I can run it leaner haha. Oh well, what can you do. I've cleaned it all off with bug and tar remover now. I'll give it a polish in an hour or so, then a couple of coats of wax... and i'll see if that makes it easier to clean. I don't mind it being yellow but would rather it comes off easily in a wash. I'll let you know how I go
  23. Hi all, Did a search but couldn't find much. Anyway, my car runs pretty rich, and puts out a fair bit of fuel, so it's always "yellow" around the rear bar. When I wash it, it never comes off easily... i've pretty much gotta polish it all off. Anyone experience this, and tried a good way to keep it so that it doesn't "stick" on... I imagine it's the plastic rear bar that causes it to stay on. Of course, I'd added pics for extra effect.
  24. Spotted a R34 with a SAU sticker on the back on Norwest Blvd.. I was in my own world and didn't see you until you'd just gone past.. hence the speed up and toot
  25. Even if I did, I wouldn't tell you. f**k they are ugly
