  1. I'll be there Not sure whether i'll run it up but it'll be good to catch up
  2. haha at 15.5... with the OzHonda guys I imagine By the way, nice time in the GTR Sean. I've run the exact same time in mine haha
  3. Both are nice cars, STi will be easier to drive faster and won't cost as much to run/insure. GTR is much easier to modify and are brilliant to drive hard... STi's are brilliant cars still. They have very different power deliveries. Go drive both and see what you prefer.
  4. Maybe the older GTR's aren't as reliable, because I drive mine daily (400kms a week) and it's brilliant. I must admit the upkeep does cost a little more, but fuel isn't that bad. My old GTST got 11L per 100km, the GTR gets 13L per 100km... and thats with a fair bit more power. Both are significantly nicer cars to drive daily compared to say... an evo. It's very hard to find a clean R32 GTR though, so if it was a daily between 33 GTST and 32 GTR with a requirement as your only car, i'd have to say i'd go the 33. R33 GTRs are a bit newer and generally more reliable.
  5. Yeah... and every time you run, it costs $45 rather than $50 (you get a $5 refund for being a ANDRA member). It's such a money making exercise. I've done four 11 second passes there so far and haven't had to pay yet. I was there last Wednesday too... that TRP R32 GTR is awesome
  6. Thanks for the pictures Kyle
  7. See pictures attached... Hope the guy is OK..
  8. Haven't got mine yet either..
  9. Hi Allen, Every case responds differently... leave them at 0/0 and use a dyno and see how your car responds using a variety of combinations.
  10. Good post, thanks for the information. Considering I use my car for drags and street driving (through national parks etc), I'm more concerned about mid range and top end. If I change at 8k I always end up above 5k so the power graph of my car is perfect. I imagine on a tighter track it might not work so well as it wouldn't have the pull from the lower RPM (I imagine it's often hard to keep the car above 4500rpm), but it's good enough for the moment and not that laggy. I'd love to go for a spin in a GT-SS GTR.... My tuner reckons these turbos (2860-5s) would be brilliant on a high comp motor but in the current form they do pretty average. Not many other twins out there I can run to achieve more low-mid range without sacrificing top end, unless I look at converting to a single turbo. Either way, took the car for a run tonight and it goes great... feels just as fast but a hell of a lot smoother. I recommend this mod to anyone running upgraded turbo/s.
  11. Mods: Apexi Power FC Greddy E0-1 boost controller 660cc Nismo injectors Nismo Fuel Regulator Bosch 044 fuel pump Turbo back Fujitsubo Exhaust Garrett 2860r -5 turbos (3 months old) RB25 AFMs Apexi Pods Tomei 260/260 Poncams 9.15mm Tomei Adjustable cam gears For $2k, a beefer mid range with 38kw gained in the top end... money very well spent in my case In terms of cam timing settings, we ended up with 2 degrees advanced on the exhaust side, with the intake still set to 0... He spent four hours in it trying different things (I'm happy to pay costs when it comes to this kinda stuff, but he looks after me anyway...) and in the end this was the best combination. I know he definitely tried a lot of settings, but as I was in a rush (my tuner lives over the other side of the city and my car isn't fun in peak hour traffic) so can't tell you exact combinations. I was surprised to hear this setting worked best anyway, I expected the exhaust to be retarted at least a few degrees. I suspect that might be why I've gained mid-range and top end.. not sure Car isn't lumpy on idle, but sounds a lot nicer. On a side note, if I look at djr81's PDF, I've got less midrange than all of them. Wonder if my car is average or something weird is going on there
  12. Ok got poncams 260/260 9.15mm lift... I did a before and after run on the same dyno... see dyno sheet attached (green line is new power curve) Pretty sure there's not too much more I can do unless I build the motor or change turbos.
  13. Got my car back today... well, bugger all mid range gained but a fair bit of top end. In total, it cost me $2k for parts and labour and tuning to have the cams/gears installed. Beer baron's old dyno sheets certainly show more power than me around the low end, I pass him at around 5000rpm and my rev limit is 8000rpm. It's still really nice to drive power wise from 3k on, I think this dyno graph makes it look much worse than it is. Most of my racing is drag stuff anyway, so this powerband is fine for me.... I would like to try some different turbos though, I'm actually surpised how little mid range it shows on the dyno... feels great out driving around in but yeah.. You can see old power vs new power in one of the dyno sheets. The black line power run was done 2 weeks ago at a dyno day
  14. Yeah, I was watching it from the barrier next to the start line (mate was racing his bike). Very impressive mate Certainly sounds great... nice bangs on rev limiter hehe
  15. I've got your exact planned setup (2860-5), but without cams/cam gears. Currently have 290kw@4 and run a 11.8@117mph. I wouldn't call it laggy but I have not been in a GT-SS car to see the comparison... no doubt they're more responsive. I've got poncams 260/260 9.15mm and cam gears being fitted at the moment... so not sure what I'll get after that, hopefully around 320kw@4 om the stock bottom end (I don't want to push it anymore) but we'll see.. just hoping to run over 120mph. Hope this helps. Tommo.
  16. Because of this reason: R31Nismoids description of a fuel setup is good, same as picture attached. Swirl pot / surge tank... same thing. Do the same using good fuel pumps and you'll be fine
  17. A mate has run 11.4 @ 128mph with 324rwkw SR20 (stock bottom end) in a 180SX (same as S13) if it helps. That's running MT streets, and it was also very far from a perfect run.
  18. I will be able to help provide before and after results with 2860-5s (currenty fitted) and 260/260 9.15mm Poncams/Cam Gears (unfitted). I was actually doing it to beefen up my midrange (not that it's laggy now but more is better!) but based off this thread, perhaps that won't be the case... I've read plenty of internet talk that says otherwise, but who knows, you guys have real world experience. My car goes in today to have them fitted and tuned (+ cam gears adjusted). I made 280kw@4 last weekend in shootout mode 6F on teh same dyno it will be getting tuned on. I'll ask for a before and after dyno sheet on the same printout so we can have our 3500rpm battles. Should have some results to post on Thursday.....
  19. Hi there, Have you gotten a quote on shipping for that bonnet at all? To Sydney (postcode: 2153) Very interested. Cheers, Tommo
  20. What speed do you get to? At those speeds, you can't trust a speedo. Nismo one for example is wrong... PFC handset speed is much more accurate. Either way - I didn't think power would matter as long as you have enough power to get to top gear / max engine revs? There's tons more room and boot space in an Evo man R33 GTR is a bit of a pain for 4 adults to get into... Evo is easy as.
  21. Yeah, I've always been told cams + cam gears, even on stock turbos, end up with great gains.
  22. You won't need valve springs etc for 260/260 9.15mm lift Poncams. You might need to replace a few shims but it depends how lucky you get. Shims are $20-$30 each. Max you'd have to replace is 24, most get away without having to replace any. Mine get fitted next week, I'm hoping I don't have to replace many... I was quoted $350 for install of cams, and then $500 for dialing in cam gears + tuning. Are you running stock turbos? I'd consider upgrading them to GT-SS's or something. Once you start pushing the stockers, you can easily get yourself into trouble if one blows up. Hard to tell you a power figure anyway, however there's no doubt it'd be much more than you have now Regarding a tuner, I've heard nothing but BRILLIANT things about Race Pace... I don't think that's they're full name, I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction. You might want to replace the stock fuel pump as well.
  23. LOL, I didn't see you Where'd you see me? What time? If it was around 10:45, I imagine I was going rather quickly with a 180SX haha... if it was around 8pm, then I would have been cruising..
  24. If your exhaust is free flowing, you will not loose any power going from screamer back to exhaust pipe returned. I'm sure it doesn't SOUND nearly as fast though
  25. Two 5+ page threads about it: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Bo...tml&hl=wsid and http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Gt...tml&hl=wsid
