Gtr Tyre & Wheels Size Problem
nisskid replied to PAV34's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
255/40's and 235/45's will be better for the ATTESA system than 245/45 and 235/45. -
lol you u judge a coilover based on whether u can make the car touch the ground or not?

Best Stock Colour?
nisskid replied to suburban drifter's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i never understand how people can think, mm i wanna make a thread about paint colour, what section would suit this best, oh i know, the suspension, brake and tyre section!! -
my money is on lower control arms, caster rods (possibly) and caster rod bracket (weak as piss as they are designed to crumple easily with the crumple zone due). upper control arms can take a big f**king beating, so i doubt they would be bent on such a relatively small impact. Also look at your engine crossmember, if the force is large enough it will bend where the LCA mounts on the crossmember. i would also be surprised if your strut was damaged as the strut is mounted to the UCA which as i mentioned before are tough as fark and rarely bend.

have people forgot about the Nepta? http://www.supercars.net/cars/3547.html and how dare people give renault shit for not creating high performance car, after all they brought us this: u cant deny its impressive performance specs: home-school: 6.5 seconds school-supermarket: 7.8 seconds

R32 GTS-t sedan gunmetal grey, different to the other gunmetal greys. its actually usually darker than that and less bluey. -
lol, so what do u want to know?
-
out of those, id get the CE28N, forged and extremely lightweight, if i remember right <7kg for a 17x9kg, less than a TE37. not to mention they are a tough looking wheel. but yeh, would be stretching the $$.
-
haha seriously, u need to do some more reading. on both turbo setups and drift, you do not need big power to drift, your placing way too much emphasis on power to drift, ur just feeding that stereotype or R33 drifters. if you want to drift, u need to focus on ur suspension, steering and diff before u worry about massive power. then u practice and u get better, 200rwkw is more than enough power to learn to drift.

the casting technique is ultimately what determines the weight, the design does play a role, but not usually as large as the manufacturing technique. the weight of a tyre and rim will vary by a few KG's depending on tyre size, tyre design, tread left etc etc so u really cant compare. plus the GTR wheel will usually run a wider tyre as well so theres extra weight.

R33 Gtr Wheel On A R32 Gts-t
nisskid replied to ali030386's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
and yeh, for R33 GTR rims there is certainly no need for guard flaring, a roll will do. -
TE37's are a very lightweight mass produced wheel, same as GT4's, there are others that are similar weight though, and for much cheaper.

R33 Gtr Wheel On A R32 Gts-t
nisskid replied to ali030386's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
there is standard adjustment, but its not much, ud need some adjustable camber arm/bushes. -
wow, diggin up a 3 year old thread, nice what u have to understand is that a wheel may be small in diameter, and thus weighing less than say a 18" wheel, but the tyre to keep the same overall diametre of the wheel and tyre u need to run a higher profile on the smaller diametre wheel, this means the tyre weighs more. the GTS-t wheel is cast yes, the GTR wheel is forged, weight wise there is not a whole lot of difference, the GTR wheels weighs a bit less, but remember the GTR wheel is 8" wide and the GTS-t is only 6.5" so its not really a fair comparison. remember, weight is relative to the size and strength of the wheel, no point having a really light wheel if its weak as piss and too thin to fit a decent size tyre on it. 19kg isnt overly heavy, but id imagine the wheel was something like a 17x7ish? to give u an idea, R33 GTR wheels (forged)weigh around that, are very strong and rigid, are 9" wide, with near new 235/45 tyres on them. they weigh around 9kg on there own without tyres. ROH's arent a particularly expensive wheel and use a pretty standard casting technique.

R33 Gtr Wheel On A R32 Gts-t
nisskid replied to ali030386's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
you have 4 options: increase the camber (may cause added tyre wear) reduce the tyre size/profile (reduces ur choice in tyre selection) raise and firm the suspension (will only reduce the scrubbing, wont eliminate it) roll the guards (if not done properly can ripple the guard lip) ---- -
the inbox increase is nice too

yep, 100% right, it works both ways though, we have to take accountability for the few hoons that ruin our reputation, but they have to take accountability for the bad eggs in the police force which ruin their reputation, most officers i meet are great, but like every population u have a minority of people that spoil it for the rest.

yeh stock bar for daily and thrashing would be the idea, my plastic bar has taken a direct hit into a guard rail at 50k's or so, they are pretty bloody tough.
-
this gets u into trouble in pubs interstate same as sparkling.
-
yeh until they defect u right outside the gates of the motorsport venue

glad i dont race people on the streets and i know cops trying to race people through the hills in commies and falcons wont work, they will lose them on the first corner

completely agree with all of that. now its hard to know to what degree paying $$ to regency is a motivation for SAPOL, but there is certainly a lot more money in defecting cars like ours then little rust buckets, u talked about the main one, it wouldnt be worth going through regency so they just ditch the car, driver is out of pocket, regency gets no $$, that or they simply just switch vins, rust buckets can be had for so little that they can buy wrecks for nothing and just swap details and re register it. but i think really, it comes down to the individual officers, if they were being pressured a lot to defect cars for $$ then they wouldnt be just picking on select vehicles, they would be pinching all sorts of cars, as i said most cars on the road have at least 1 very noticeable defect, and if the car doesnt, well f**k it, just do what they've been doing to imports for the last decade and pick a really petty defect, or even make one up! if cops were genuinely interested in roadworthyness, and they just didnt want unsafe cars on the road, then they would not be targeting imports and enthusiasts cars, why? because an enthusiast makes sure their car is kept in good nick, they look out for problems, at least moreso than a middle aged women in her VN commodore. hell my old lady drives a VT, the thing is defect ridden, i could fill a page of defects on it, it even looks hotted up, big rims, loud exhaust, body kit, bright paint job, has she been defected in the many years shes had it? f**k no, and she speeds and puts her foot down everywhere. eh, theres one basic solution, there should be a step in between regency, free of charge, a qualified inspector has a quick check over the defects mentioned, verifies those defects and decides whether to send you to regency or not, this way if your going to regency, your going for the right reasons, not because an unqualified officer thinks u should. they spent how many millions on alcohol detecting equipment to verify drunk driving, they can spend a fraction of that on something for defects.

*hugs plastic GTR front bar

ted, i saw POS dropped on their arse and straight through exhausts rolling past while i was being defected in my stock looking little 4dr for a cracked indicator lense, if u can explain to me how that is going to make the roads safer then id love to hear it.
