Massive Miss Fire Along With A Few Other Issues
nisskid replied to nisskid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
just to let people know it ended up being a leak in the i/c hosing, which i kind of had my suspicions on, especially after i tightened up the clamps and it made a difference. the issue was the hosing was old and leaking so no matter how tight they were it was leaking. runs nicely now, still rough as guts idle (like its always had) but it doesnt stall anymore. -
what kind of clearance do R32 GTR's have with the upper control arm? is it much of an issue?
-
235 on 9" and 225 on 8" i find to be a pretty good combo. im running a 225 on a 8.5" at the front and a 225 on a 9.5" at the rear and i find it pretty good for drift, rear end is very predictable and front doesnt have much stretch which means it grabs the road well and is good for control without being too floppy for the longer corners where the front slides heaps as well.

^^wat kind of power did u get after the remap?
-
how would u fit that cover? :S
-
f**k i wanted to make it on the first page, devo

rb20 turbo without remap and stock dump vs rb25 turbo with remap and 3" dump = barely any noticeable difference in lag.

yeh its not hard to do the maths, say u start with a 205/45: 205x0.45 = 92.25, 92.45/0.40 (the next profile down) = 231.125 round it off to a 235, so a 235/40 will be roughly the same as a 205/45, or say u want to run a 255, 92.25/255 = 0.36 or round it off to 35, so a 255/35 should be about the same height as a 205/45 etc etc

Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines

are u sure its 17x8 +30? pretty sure drift teks only came in a 17x8 +34. anyways, in relation to ur guards u wont have any issues, rears will come up and sit near the guards but u shouldnt have any scrubbing issues, the fronts will sit in a fair way. as far as brake clearance the drift teks use a design which is usually pretty good for clearing big brakes, i know they clear r32 gts-t m-spec brakes which i believe are pretty similar to r33 brakes, also i think i remember someone running them on their GTR which didnt use spacers i believe. -
depends on the profile of the tire. the thing u may notice is that if u go from a 205 tire to a 235 tire both with a 45 profile for example because of the extra width of the rim, the height of the sidewall will change as the profile works with the tread width, eg, a 205/45 will mean the sidewall is 45% of 205mm, so 45% of 235mm will be higher, hence creating a larger overall diameter. but if u keep the same tire with the same dimensions i dont see why u would see any increase to the total diameter.
-
id be getting new rims there. but if u were to get spacers, unless the back of where the wheel connects to the hub it allows studs, ull need at least a 25mm spacer to make sure the original studs dont protrude out of the spacer as the studs are 25mm long.

or worse yet, the GXi with CA18i

good on fuel, look good, handle well etc etc. not gonna be a power house, but i figure unless ur gonna get something thats actually fast no point in worrying about how fast a slow car is. just drive it, enjoy it and if u feel like going fast do some handling mods and u wont be so worried about power.

yeh i was out there, just chucked up a pics thread on ns if anyone's interested in some pics, if u were in the top 16 ishould have one of u. http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...howtopic=262684

yep spot on.

lol thats not stretching, u can run a 235 on a 9.5" rim comfortably. stretching has its advantages, but none of which have anything to do with making the tire work properly. stretching makes the tire very stiff and means less side wall flex as road tires have weak as piss sidewalls which has been mentioned, this is preferential to a lot of drifters, hence why it became popular in japan. having less sidewall flex means the tire acts more predictably and responsively, which means its often good to fit the the rear on drift cars to allow that response and predictability when flicking the rear around. im currently using a 225/45 on 9.5" wheel for drift, it does make it very predictable, but its pretty shit traction and not really good for anything but drift. its also a lot about looks, just ask the boys over on ns, it can look tough used right but in the end its not really practical. ansch: 225 of a 9" wheel will be fine, 235's are probably a better option tho.

i pay $1300-$1500 for genuine 2nd Jap wheels that are forged and weigh sub 8kg's each. this ranges from top of the line volks to BBS's, if u buy right u can get them decent prices. how much are u paying for starcorps? -

sorry but i have to say to me they look very cheapish, i mean there are expensive wheels that do as well, but those there do look very cheap. -
Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines

+40 on a 17x8.5" wheel will not fit on the front, the closest ive got my front wheel to the upper control arm was 17x9" +30which was only a few mm away from touching the upper control arm, which is about the equivalent (inner clearance wise) of a 17x8.5 +36. now u could try but id say u will foul on the upper control arm, especially if u run anything above a 225/45 on it. on the rear ur tie rod becomes the issue, and it will start to foul on a 17" wheel at around 9.5" +40 depending on design and a few other things. closest ive got to the tie rod was my 9.5 +38's which were only a few mm away from fouling on it. btw when i say tie rod im talking about what u were referring to as the HICAS. if u want to run a 17x9.5 on the rear ur best bet is with going for a offset around +35, this will mean u might have to roll ur guards, but its better than it fouling on the tie rod. as for the front ull need to go for around a +35 offset if u want to run 17x8.5's on the front, personally id go for a +30 offset as it fills out the guard nicer and most likely still wont rub on ur gaurds (depending on ride height, camber, tire tread/profile etc etc) -

Offset Question For R32 Gtst
nisskid replied to dori34's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
^^mm not bad, i bidded on some type C's 17x9 +21 and 17x9.5 +27 on the Jap auctions and missed out on them by like 500yen, they are an awesome rim, weigh something like 6.5kg for a 17x9
