  1. u should get away with 235/40's, but to play it safe u can go to a 225/40, 235/35's will set u back a lot more due to their low and irregular profile.
  2. 33 driver, nuff said
  3. that was the back, this is the front:
  4. i'm not worried lol. but im sure nissan will be interested finding out that they could have just got rota to build them cast wheels in a chinese factory at the same strength and weight as rays and at a fraction of the cost.
  5. yeh i like the first one too
  6. haha no probs
  7. yeh i think it's only a matter of a few mm, and the TE37 has better sizes anyway than the ROTA grid. that's the thing, it's not a matter of not having the right sizes available, it's just him being too cheap to buy what is needed.
  8. you talked about the chinese getting the process casting right, i made the comment that it's not that simple. rays and BBS are a tiny % of the wheels out there manufacturered with years of R&D and more sophisticated, expensive processes. Regardless of ROTA's poor reputation of wheel failures, ROTA are a show wheel, they aren't designed for performance, they are a mass produced wheel for people who want something that looks nice, no different to ur koya, lenso etc. and there is a market for them, people who want something to look nice who dont want to spend much, and dont need the wheel to perform. not for supercars that see forces and conditions much greater than any street car will.
  9. actually i've contributed quite a lot here, if you choose to ignore it then that's fine, but i would hate to see a thread go by where the idea of putting rotas on a GTR without severe criticism, then for other GTR owners to read this and actually be under the delusion that this is a good idea. firstly, personally i wouldnt like me and my 150k car to be a crash test dummy for some "destructive" testing. 2ndly you think there might be a reason why rays, BBS etc etc spend millions on R&D and advanced manufacturing processes if the chinese gear made with the most basic and cost effective processes do the same job? really? exactly, we can debate all day about whether putting shitty wheels on a S13 or R32 is wrong, but you are talking no where near the forces a R35 GTR is subjecting their wheels too. and worst comes to worst and ur S13 fails and puts u off the circuit, it's hardly as big of an issue.
  10. yeh but who puts enkei's on their commies? lol im talking about the rodney jane, speedy wheels, lenso etc etc the rotas fit because they are carbon copies of TE37 which were designed specifically to clear large calipers by Rays. you could have bought TE37's which have been used across the world on GTR's, but instead u chose to buy the cheap generic copies made by a bulk manufacturer in taiwan or china.
  11. pizza boy? oh u mean my avatar? lol i just find it hilarious people are putting wheels on their $150k supercars that are the same quality as the wheels u can go into bob jane and buy for ur commie.

  13. do what ever u want, it's ur 150k car. if u wanna put cheap and nasty gear on it, go for it, should see if pedders have a solution for the GTR, will be a nice replacement for the bilsteins lol
  14. first
  15. im not criticising them being 18", but when u say "they are lighter" makes me think ur trying to say it's better, but light is only good if ur NOT compromising strength or other elements of the performance (tyre size etc) now enkei's are on a whole new level to rotas, generally a much better wheel, although id still be slightly doubtful assuming the enkei's are cast like most enkeis. i mean ur comparing a company that supplies to F1 and many other motorsports around the world, and a company that spends their time copying the appearances of wheels made by companies that supply to F1 and other motorsports around the world. you wouldnt put rodney jane wheels from ur local tyre shop on ur GTR, why would u put ROTA's on? btw, u want to know what to buy? buy the real thing, the wheel that rota copied to steal millions of $$ from rays for: http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/cgi-bin/cgi2/e...?modelName=TE37 18x9.5 +22 and 18x10.5 +12 would be my pick (bit more agressive) contact Jesse Streeter, get him to bring them in for you privately from Rays, my guess is probably around the 4.5-5k mark all up.
  16. sorry to bump this thread. but wow, rotas on a R35. 2 things, the weight, well uve downgraded the size of both the rim and the tyre (both diametre and width), so obviously there is less metal and rubber there now, so naturally it's easier to weight less when there's less material there keeping u stuck to the road. 2ndly RE070's are a heavy tyre, a lot to do with their RFT construction, but also if ur comparing new RE070's to 2nd hand tyres, then there is less rubber left on them, less weight. either way, weight isnt everything, the amount of stress u would put on these wheels strength will play a massive role. being cast ud need more weight than the forged items to get even close to the same strength. imho uve basically downgraded size, performance and strength, it's one thing to lose a few seconds on the track, it's another to have a wheel fail and leave ur gtr skidding on it's rails down the road.
  17. i disagree, i believe it's the turbo hanging off the side of the engine which makes it suck.
  18. bought some work equips off carl, but turns out they wont do what i want so need to get rid of them. These have been freshly re-sealed as well. Specs: 4x Work Equip Wheels PCD: 5x114.3 (fit most Jap 5-stud cars, as well as Fords) 17x7 +35 215/45 tyres - 80% tread 17x8 +35 225/45 tyres - 80% tread Price: $700 or $900 with brand new tyres Located near Mitcham SA, can post interstate. 19. hey flick, ive always loved this pic, but u have the hi res version obviously lol
  20. smaller diametre with less muffling sounds best imo, larger diametre with muffling sounds more droany. if u want sound, straight twin 2.5" with a hotdog reso each from the turbo's is where it's at.
  21. how much power? full 3" is usually enough with a decent muffler.
  22. lol got some pulsar stockies?? i dunno, something stockies, 2 are alloy, 2 are steelies. these fit few cars like old pulsars and hondas etc. here's their full specs: Size: 14x5.5 Offset: +45 PCD: 4x100 Tyres: the 2 alloys have 185/60 Bridgstone GRID's with 40-30% tread. the 2 steelies have 185/60's, with 50-60% tread. Price: $100 pics:
  23. not sure about the jap ones, but my aus one has fair bit as well, seems like almost as much as my 32 with lock spacers lol
  24. what someone is willing to pay really. yes they are volk racing but there isnt much demand for that style of wheel, there might be some hope depending on their size/offset, i often see these going up for around $500 for 17x8/9 +35ish, if they are smaller expect even less.
  25. well 2 things, if u want a "flush" look ur going to have to roll ur guards and go a smaller tyre or wider wheel (my suggestion) if i wanted a tough look with 18's on just rolled guards but didnt want to stretch a lot id go a 18x9 +25 with 235/40 and 18x10 +30 with 245/40, with a decent roll they wont scrub. thats also assuming ur running stock arms.
