  1. not sure how i didnt cover that, pretty sure i mentioned grip, including lateral grip. grip is very important in competitive drift, being able to carry more speed into the corner, as well as through the corner and out of the corner, saying that having a tyre that flops around takes a lot of feel and response out of the rear end, especially on change of direction etc. is pretty shit to drift with. u can get away with a bit of a faint rear end with racing, as long as overall lap time is better, but drift is a different story.
  2. well, if u think about sway bars and how u adjust them to balance ur cars, increasing anti-roll at the front end actually increases understeer/decreases oversteer.
  3. yeh i was talking about what i run, the bilsteins, id imagine it would be a similar problem on most aftermarket coilovers with big pistons. lol, glad u made the ps. a lot of shops id be glad if they used knowledge from the internet, often even that is better than what goes around at those shops. a lot of them really specialise in ur every day car, which means they really have no clue about anything relavent to cars like ours.
  4. btw for the record most of the high end drift cars run non-stretched tyres as they are supplied with proper performance tyres and there is no need to run stretch.
  5. as far as safety goes: not an issue unless ur going over like a 18x10 with a 215/45 range, some will be fine, but it depends on each tyre and rim, some tyres are better at stretch, some rims are better at stretch (bead seat design). but for most stretch like a 215 on a 9", ull be fine. looks: personal taste performance: can provide less traction (as opposed to a same size tyre on a thinner wheel), but will firm up the sidewalls, hence it is popular for drift, it means u dont have to run high end tyres to get a tyre with a solid and predictable sidewall. afterall drift is about control and predicability, sacraficing a bit of traction/speed for more predictability often makes sense ride/comfort: there will be a slightly harsher ride, as well as tracking as there is less sidewall compliance, no different to performance tyres with hard sidewalls tho
  6. ahk, yeh i can see that.
  7. bumping this up in the hope that someone can maybe answer this as its kind of played on my mind, they say when suffering from understeer, reduce front ride height, and for oversteer reduce rear ride height. how does this work? i would have thought the opposite.
  8. it would be handy as fark tho.
  9. i wouldnt reccomend it.
  10. 10mm is a wierd size, 10mm is more common as a slip on spacer, but for 10mm slip on ull probably need extended studs. 20mm is the minimum id feel comfortable as a bolt on, as the smaller it is the less meat there is to give a strong mechanical connection. it also comes down to the wheel, anything smaller than 25mm in bolt on will need cavities in the back of the wheel between the stud holes as ur standard studs are 25mm long, so they will protrude out of the spacer.
  11. lol, i still get amazed at how willing SAU guys are to just throw away cash for the record you cannot repair any sidewall damage when its a safety issue, its either f**ked and u scrap it, or its fine and u leave it. that does not look like a safety issue from the pics, but its fairly easy when its in front of u, just make sure it doesnt break the next layer down. sidewalls have quite a bit of reinforcement, so a bit of rubber out of it isnt such an issue. i dont know why ud replace $280 tyres if they arent a safety issue.
  12. ive been eyeing this day out, not 100% sure, thinking of taking the stocky 31 out as i dont wanna f**k the 32 before G1 lol
  13. bahaha, rim is fine, ull probably spend between $100-200 getting it repaired, depending on the place. as far as the tyre, its fine, as long as u cant see the layer below it, its fine. that layer of rubber there is a rim protector, it is designed to take the brunt of force and to be damaged.
  14. u cant expect much from the whiteline springs, they are after all just cheapies, if u want something decent either go the eibachs or hypercoils.

    Finally

mm nomuken is my favourite drifter, mainly for old time sakes, i loved him and his car when i first started getting into drift around 2002ish. but realistically there are better upcoming drifters that have passed him in what is expected in D1 today.
  16. that was 5 minutes after they'd been fitted for the first time after being powdercoated white, beleive me, my wheels are never even close to being that clean usually haha
  17. luke enr34 runs 18x10 +18 i think on just rolled guards, i ran 17x9 +16's on mine for a while, now i run 17x9 -1's on small flares. u just have to know what ur doing to make them fit.
  18. yeh standard is +40
  19. if ur happy letting workshops make decisions on ur mods then go for it, i personally would never let a workshop make that choice.
  20. ur just getting used to the power, after all its not THAT much power. get some decent suspension and learn to drive ur car properly, ull find a new found enjoyment and appreciation for ur car.
