    Finally

would love to see a lap time to compare with a standard gtr

    Z-tune?

yeh could be done, although i dunno about flaring at the back, would ruin the lines imo

    Z-tune?

    thoughts???
  6. might have been covered, but does anyone have the specs of the engine in the 31 GTS-R that used to compete in the ATCC?
  7. i have some 245/50 RE01's on some 16x8.5, i was actually surprised at how responsive they were, but personally i wouldnt wanna go any wider.
  8. sleepers dont mean shit, if anyone's seen my car it doesnt exactly stick out like dogs balls, but still seen the yellow sticker many times.

lol all the dirty laundry comes out.
  12. i have found similar studies, basically saying the same thing. if u put up the amount of defects from RBT's, compared to the amount of people done for being over the limit at RBT's, then look at the crashes they cause, it's just rediculous.
  13. 275's on a 9" are too wide, i personally wouldnt go wider than a 255 on a 9", a 245 is a better fit.
  14. lol F1 tyres are a tad different to street tyres mate.
  15. it's a sign from the big man telling u to get rid of them but seriously, offset doesnt define brake clearance, the disk height does that.
  16. my worry is that the police will just simply deny any bias treatment towards imports, as much as they are open to talking about it in a casual setting, officially i doubt they would admit it, and unless they do there will be no progress made. i would be happy to go, im not sure what help i could be, im just thinking it might be a bit hard as i dont really know anyone who is involved with this.
  17. rotational inertia will effect acceleration. as far as going a smaller diametre wheel, in theory yes, but its good to remember other things such as sidewall flex etc
  18. are u sure? i was under the impression a 1:1 was impossible unless the shock connects to basically the wheel, even though its close, there would still be a small leverage difference between the wheel and suspension.
  19. just make sure you put them on ur side windows so they can see them from behind when ur sliding out of a corner
  20. thanks mate. its good to know some people don't just jump on you saying oh the reason you get pulled over so much is u drive like a hoon etc, i guess a lot of it comes down to luck, i havent been that lucky this year (those 3 defects mentioned, + another one all within about 2-3 months driving this year) its not the norm, but its a great example of the defect system failing.
  21. yeh a stretched tyre is much more tight, responsive and easy to control, hence why a lot of drifters that arent high level who get good tyres given to them (with strong sidewalls etc) use stretch with cheaper tyres. as far as grip though, a 235 on a 8.5" and a 235 on a 10" would be a better comparison for stretch vs non-stretch.
  22. The only thing i would say is, that wont stop a lot of police from defecting you. When it comes to defects SAPOL are practically boundless in their power. There have been plenty of people who have shown the officer engineering papers and been told they don't mean shit, and they don't, because the defect laws are too broad. Sure regency is a different story, but by that time you've taken a day off work, paid $130, had your car gone through with a fine tooth comb, possibly re-defected for petty stuff, and gone through all the inconvenience a defect brings such as having a car you can't drive (often been given less than a day to drive, sometimes less than an hour, sometimes no time at all), all for some petty issue or something which could quite possibly be legal. Generally speaking regency is a head screw, even if your car is safe, hell only this year my car was off the road for about 3 months because of 3 consecutive false defects for legal parts, 1 minor, 1 police major, and 1 regency major. i couldnt beleive it. the funny part is i ended up passing regency with every single "defect" i had been done for in place for the inspection. subsequently i lost my job. which made the task of scraping together $80 for 2nd inspection + $40 for permit even harder. at least i didnt have to take a day off work haha Sure this bs doesnt happen all the time, but tbh it happening once is more than enough. I'd be genuinely interested if there was a way you could use the engineering papers to avoid a defect, but i just dont see how it's possible, the only people that seem to really credit engineering papers are regency, and by that time you've already gone through the bs, if you're lucky you will get an officer which will be reasonable and see the papers and let you on your way, but they usually aren't the people we have difficulties with, it's the few unreasonable officers who quite simple are out to get you (recoginising how lame and immature that sounds), and they will get you for what they can, knowing the full extent of their power.
  23. lol i cbf reading past the first page, and urs was the first post that had any substance to it that was short enough for me to bother reading it.
  24. yes, added unsprung weight and rotational inertia will effect your performance of ur suspension, acceleration, and braking. big? depends on ur definition, id certainly focus on a lot of other things before i spent big $$ of ultra-lightweight wheels, but i would stay away from heavy wheels. personally i look for a strong rigid wheel which is relatively light, when u buy a heavy wheel they are often not only heavy but weak.
