the laws vary from state to state, but in a lot of the states the rule has been for a while that u cannot increase the rim diametre by more than 2", although i think it is getting slowly fased out to just the overall diametre.

the pics i posted above are of a member's car, luke_ENR34, he didnt have any scrapage issues afaik. but as i said it will vary depending on camber etc

i already corrected myself saying they were legal on R34's and R33 GTR's, but illegal on every other skyline (bar V35 obviously) as far as who says they look like shit imo (in my opinion), i do, cos its my opinion.

lol, spend all ur money on rims for the street then put crappy stockies on for track. people will never cease to amaze me if u want to spend some time on the track spend some $$ on some decent wheels for the track. that or just harden up and use the wheels uve got on now, a lot of drifters slide on much more expensive wheels than the ones u are talking about. no point bothering with stockies, u wont have f**k all grip, and the tyre will just flop around. nah, as long as the overall diametre is kept constant from front to rear ull be fine, width has nothing to do with it.

its hard to tell when ur playing with fairly tight tolerances like we are here, expect the wheels to stick out a decent way, but the tyres will stretch in nicely and hopefully clear. but it will depend on ur suspension and camber.

firstly, i didnt throw a blanket over all big rims, this is SAU, the guy owns a R34 GT-t, im talking about big rims on these skylines. secondly, its not just about handling, its about ride comfort and damage, the harsher the ride the less comfortable it is as well as transferring more shock into the chassis and components. it's one thing to have to put up with a harsher ride on the road because of stiffer suspension in the goal of a better handling car, but to put up with a harsh ride while actually hindering performance just for wank factor, well that just doesnt make sense to me. what ive noticed is that in general the people that admire blingy 19's on skylines are people who don't have the first clue about skylines or performance cars and are just the product of the MTV generation where shiny = good, people that appreciate a skyline and other cars properly generally admire nicely styled cars on good, more appropriately sized wheels that suit the car. i just find it hard to comprehend why someone would buy a performance car only to ruin its performance with mods that make it look more like a sex spec poser car than an actual sports car. why not just buy a slow car if ur not interested in performance? each to their own i guess, but this thread is about opinions and this is mine.

theres a few for the euro market, but a lot of them use different stud patterns.

please, let's keep at least some logic in this argument. the R35 GTR is designed to take larger wheels, the guards are larger and the tyre profiles are still reasonable, not to mention the wheels are lightweight forged wheels, not cheap tempe tyre crap which is what most people are putting on their skylines.

yeh sorry, on R34's and R33 GTR's 19's are legal, unfortunately.

19's look like shit (imo) ride like shit perform like shit cost a lot cost a lot in tyres are illegal tbh i cannot think of any positive with them.

just looked at the site, go a 18x8 +38 225/40 at the front and 18x9 +38 235/40 at the rear, shit selection, but that's what u get when u buy cheap shit.

basic rule i go by is no less inner clearance at the front than a 18x9 +30 with a 235/40, then obviously u can do the maths from there if its a 8.5" rim etc etc

yeh that's usually a good number for 17-18" tyres. i personally think at least around $200ea new, unless ur drifting in low level comps. just seems kinda like a waste to spend $$ on a performance car, then modify the power and suspension only to put shitty tread on it and cancel it all out because u have f**k all grip.

firstly, D2 is not a great base to go off as they are terrible coilovers, there isnt much worse out there. 2ndly, ur suspension engineer was saying its only worth dropping the spring rates for the track? so he thinks the higher spring rate suits the street? i dunno, that's kinda the opposite of what any sane person would say. i dunno, maybe he was just saying its minor enough to not really notice until u use it at the track, but really, for a car that is mostly used on the road, it is probably more important to drop the spring rates to a more suitable rate.
