Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines
nisskid replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the issue is 19's arent great for fitment because u cant gain as much clearance by stretching tyres from another thread in this section: so its hard to really get the fitment right with them. with the specs i gave u, depending on the camber they will probably just stick out of the guard a few mm at the rear. -
RE-01R's are no longer being made and cant get them into Australia too easily, otherwise i would have recommended them. tbh when i first read this thread for some reason i was thinking he was actually after a high performance street tyre, not a street/track tyre so ill take that back, as u mentioned they arnt really suited to heaps of track work. in an identical thread on ns about a street/track tyre i recommended these 3: Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07 Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 i still stick to it, but unfortunately they are not easy to get into the country, although recently this bloke was able to get his hands on the direzzas for a bloody good price through tire rack http://hardtuned.net/forums/index.php?s=&a...t&p=4403390 as i mentioned, the RE-01R's arnt being made any more, and the bridgestone dealers dont seem to be able to bring them in. ur only real option with those 2 are getting an import broker to send some over from Japan.

R33 4door Wheel Offsets
nisskid replied to Toobad's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
haha mm, i though u ended up going with a more agressive offset than that, owell probably a good thing in the end if u wanted to run big tyres. his will be pushing with stock guards, but as i said, he will need to stretch the tyres a bit and the rear guard may need a pull as well as a roll. 235's on the 9.5" isnt much of a stretch, not sure what the tyre shop said, i run 225's comfortably on my 9.5" rims, a 215 on a 9.5" is more of a decent stretch. fitting a 9.5 +22 with a 225/45 tyre would actually be pretty easy, my main concern is being a 19" wheel, even though it will be the same amount of stretch, the angle will be sharper, like so: the blue is a smaller wheel with a larger profile, and the red is a larger wheel with smaller profile but same size tread. the green is at sitting height, the yellow is on compression, the angle change in the 2 guards is due to dynamic camber, obviously in real life its the wheel/tyres angle that changes, but its easier to just show the guard changing angle. as u can see the lesser angle of the sidewall on the tyre on the smaller wheel allows the guard to come down further, even though the offset, rims width and tread width are all the same. hence why its really hard to get agressive fitment on higher diametre wheels. -

haha i know what its like, even in Adelaide, gotta take control with tyre shops otherwise they will fit u up with 165/55's on 14" steelies. just know that if ur after an agressive fitment be prepared to have to fiddle around with things, it doesnt always just fit straight away, saying that, a wheel that sits right up next to the guard rather than a wheel that sits deep in the guard will look 100 times better, even a 19" wheel. -

let me put it this way, it wont be impossible to make them fit, u just have to be willing to go a smaller tyre and get a bit of guard work, nothing drastic, mostly just a roll, rear may need some pulling depending on camber etc. -

bah, looking at ur wheels looks a bit mexicana man, what tyres did u end up going with? hope u didnt end up getting 255's or something because a tyre shop said so. with the look u were going for u really needed to stretch the tyres to get them to slide inside the guard, if u wanted to go the bigger tyre i would have recommended a higher offset. -

215's on the front and 225's on the rear, a roll and a slight pull on the guards and hey presto! the main issue here is them being 19", doesnt allow u to stretch the tyre into the guard as there is f**k all sidewall to angle in. -
measure 10mm from the top of the 255 tread and tell us if it touches the guard.

nah it was those shifty blokes from NS!

if ur just after clearance id be going a 19x8.5 +30 (not 100% on how much clearance u have with the UCA) and on the rear a 19x9.5 +35. -

i originally tried the whiteline adjustable caster bushes, they gave less adjustment, the ISC ones gave a little more, but still very low -
Modifying Caster Rod Bracket
nisskid replied to nisskid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
cheers mate, so when u talk about the anti-drive and drilling the holes lower, roughly how much lower? saying that i like the idea of drilling the holes in the rod, might give that a crack instead, +7 degrees was what i was aiming for, so that should be perfect. -
well, im over f**king around trying to get caster, have tried adjustable bushes, adjustable rods and still cant get over +5 across the 2. chassis is aligned to specs, rad support is all straight etc, ive decided i want to do soemthing more drastic. Now im thinking the most simple way is drilling an identical hole to the one what holds the caster rod in place in the bracket that holds it. Now my main worry is strength, drilling a hole side by side will leave only a bit metal holding it, so might have to reinforce it by welding up the old hole. also i know the bracket changes shape as i goes down, so the rod might not want to go in as far. also roughly how far down can i go? obviously i want to go as far back as possible to get the holes as far apart as i can, but just wondering roughly how many degrees of caster u gain by how much distance u shorten the rod or move it back?

yeh could have swore i saw them before, cheers, now just to get some $$.

wouldnt mind a decent polo, just the SAU logo on the front and the address on the rear.
-
mm didnt get on in this one, might try for the next one. was thinking i might just be able to go to t-shirt city and get the design done myself, was thinking id just reduce the size of the SAU on the front, instead of the S on top and the AU on the bottom, just a smaller SAU in line, roughly the same size as the name next to it.
