R34 turbo would be better again, but a lot harder to come by and more expensive. If you go and R33 turbo, you want to get it from a series 2 as they have a nylon compressor wheel and are rated at 180-190 odd rwkw. I have an R34 turbo on the way for mine, can't wait! I have a bosch 040 fuel pump and a remapped ECU, I also have 3" dump back, POD filter, EBC and front mount... will get it retuned once I fit my GTR injectors and Z32 AFM.

NOW FOR SALE!! Turbo For Sale I fitted this turbo to my RB20 and it is a bit too laggy for my liking. It has been recently built, has no shat play and is in excellent condition. All I am able to tell you about it is this… It has an RB25 Exhaust Housing with very large steel wheel, quite a large Garrett compressor housing with a large wheel. It is a straight bolt up to an RB20 and RB25. Fitted to my car (only for a week now), it starts to spool at about 3-3500rpm and hit full boost at around 5000rpm. Pulls strong! I have only run it at 14psi but from the look of it, it should be good for 18-20psi and would expect it to be rated at around 220-230rwkw. This would suit an RB25 to a tea or something bigger than an RB20 (unless you like a bit of lag!) I will happily do a direct swap for a series 2 R33 turbo! I am selling for $600ono or $500 firm. SH!T LOAD OF PICS: FITTED OLD NEW OLD NEW

Thanks for your reply... It seemed to come on quicker but because it was cool and I had only just done the repair, I really didn't push it enough to know for sure - definatly didn't hit full boost. I have a Dr Drift remaped ECU. It has not been tuned for this turbo as I only installed it last weekend. Yeah, I think that myself but I feel that if I am going to go to the effort I should put on something that I will be truly happy with. (I like to drift and raz it off the lights). I agree with the sealent, it seems to be all coming down to me not replacing that friggin gasket - let this be a warning!

yeah, no... sorry mate, just sold mine!

It all worked beautifuly for about 10mins! Still a bit of lag but very quiet and pulled very strong. Then... tick tick tick... It is worse than ever! Grrrrr It is definatly coming off now, not going to go to that effort for the 3rd time without replacing it with something smaller! Bring on a Series2 R33 turbo (Or R34 )

Hey Guys, I am stupid! I now have 2 shagged instrument clusters and 0 working instrument clusters! Does anyone have one I can buy? I am only looking at paying $50 and it needs to be from a series one. Thanks in advance! Todd

Hey Stel, I had the car at the mechanics yesterday and it was the gasket between the turbo and manifold has rooted itself!! I fixed it up with some goop last night and it was running smooth and sweet this morning for about 10mins on the way to work before it gave in. What I figure is if I am to replace the gasket, may aswel replace the turbo at the same time! I woud expect that it would reach full boost by 4k on an RB25 but I am no pro, I am not sure if anyone here could be a little more certian? What turbo do you have? Cheers, Todd

Well... I took it to the mechanics today and had then run their eye over it. They told me that the turbo was too big for the car (as I already knew) and that there was a leak between the manifold and the turbo. Ah hah... there we go! soooo, I got pissed off with it on the way home so decided to cut a little sik! I pulled it apart again and unbolted the turbo from the manifold (2hrs). I then found that the bottem left had pooed itself and there was nothing there, so I grabbed my gasket silicone and dropped it like it was hot! Result, well at this stage I do not have anything to go on other than driving it from the garage to the cold outside (because I wanted to let the goop cure) however there was no leaking. I will take it to work tomorrow and give it some stick on the way home and update... Fingers crossed!!

Installing A Turbotech Boost Controller
CATKICKER replied to GTAAAH's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey Mate, I would suggest using a metal joiner in-between the hoses if you must do it that way! For all this mucking around you could have just removed some more pipes to be able to get to it! I just removed and refitted my turbo for the second time tonight so I know how it can be a pain but it will be rewarding when it is done! -
what is the little metal bit you refer to?
