  1. Sydneykid: Have you ever seen lean out on 5&6 with the standard plenum at the 250rwkw mark??
  2. there is only one hose coming off the waste gate
  3. The standard blow of valve has a habit of leaking boost at high rpm. There is a fix ...do a search on this site for the link
  4. MattR....you got, don't you mean terry!
  5. MODS at time of run 12.9 Apex Power FC (tuned by Martin Donnon) Greddy FMIC HKS Exhuast Cat In Pipe APEX filter 600hp Fuel pump high flow fuel filter HKS twin plate clutch Cold air intake and partician heat wrapped intercooler pipes modified standard BOV( to hold over 13psi) Slit dump pipe HKS EVC IV C's Quick shifter Oil/air seperator Octane booster (+2 degrees ignition) Standard turbo Mesh removed from Airflow meter
  6. You can get a RB25 ECU for $100, I would save all the heart ache and buy one. If you are still keen on re-inventing the wheel do a search for "power fc map" I posted my ignition and fuel maps a while back.
  7. dabigbolf: The turbo is different, I went to a highflow VG30. It spooled up alot quicker than it should have tho....... Steve: I have access to a die grinder and bits, however in hind sight I was lucky to not put a hole in the manifold.. I took a hell of alot of metal out. I would definately invest in a pair of pinchers to keep an eye on wall thickness.
  8. all i can say is you get what you pay for, I doubt the $40 dollar item has a internal bell mouth or dual density foam.
  9. First thing I look for in a good filter is an interal bell mouth.
  10. ported the exhaust mainifold and installed the VG30 hybrid which "was" making 15psi by 2600rpm.
  11. I ported that exact bit in the chase for improved flow. I removed 2mm without any trouble.
  12. Do a search on the net, there was a test done a while back maybe autospeed...anyway Apexi came out on top for best flow and filtering. Foam type from HKS and Trust flowed well but had very poor filtering properties.
  13. And doin 360's down the middle of the road hey MattR. I'm glad I was no were near you.
  14. Freebaggin, my exhaust A/R is .81 and turbine is 42mm exducer. The RX6 had an external gate.
  15. .81 I am sure .61 should be fine. I bet the turbine is bigger than 42mm- thats were the power is to be had. I used a lathe. extrusion hone would have been ok 2 but couldn't be stuffed setting it up.
  16. Yes I have read it, thanks for the loan. didn't go as indepth as I would have liked. Pm me so I can organise it's return.
  17. I am refering to the part of the housing that surrounds the turbine. 3" would be nice would flow 1000hp
  18. I have been experimenting with a T3/4 hybrid. Started life as a VG30BB .6AR / .81AR Ex 1.Installed a Vtrim t04 compressor =15psi boost by 2600 Now that looks impressive however mega surge is the out come. After alot of research on how to read compressor maps, I can calculate that my engine needs to reach 15psi by 4000rpm or later to pass the surge limit. Also Corky bell states that a maximun of 2.5 times the boost preasure is allowed in the exhaust mainifold or on cam overlap you will get exhaust gas flowing back into the cylinders. I found my car made no more power with any more boost over 13psi. I concluded that my 42mm ceramic turbine was on the small side on most likely causing a very high restriction. 2. Bored out the turbine housing(snout) by 4mm =15psi by 3600 rpm, car now frys my 275s at a quarter throttle in second. Standard fuel system is not keeping up now and is leaning out with any extra boost. Turbo still surges in third. 3. this week! Will take another 2mm out of the turbine snout. (49mm) hopefully boost will hit 15psi by 4000rpm or a tad later. New technology- Had the chance to dribble over a Apex RX6 turbo for a SR20. This Turbo is capable of 300rwkw. The comp cover was massive at least .7AR What the !!!! exhaust housing was so so small... I'm taking CT26 size however the turbine would have been 55- 60mm Apex defenately know something HKS don't..........

  20. not bad for a turbo that cost me $350 to build. I will let you guys know the exact details when I get the specs sorted.
  21. Increase fuel regulator pressure.
  22. The ECU does control fuel at idle(closed loop) removing your Air filter will stuff up your vaccum levels and the wierd idle is you ECU trying to control whats going on. I find my car idles wierd when its due for an oil change. When to oil gets to thin... ie less than 5w. The manual recommends 7.5w 30 oil. I have tried 0w 40 and my car hates the thin oil at idle and starts hunting. TPS= Throttle Position Sensor
  23. Change the voltage that the ECU sees coming from the air flow meter. Apexi make alot of Air flow converters
  24. Each degree cooler/hotter in the intake is multiplied by the turbo. Each degree at the throttle body equal 50 times that at the exhaust. Free power people. Cold Air intake will give you a power increase you can feel.
  25. The oil inside the pipes is perfectly normal, it's part of the emission control. Your unstable idle can be from dirty oil, wrongly adjusted TPS or ACC valve. Very common to get rpm "hunting" at idle on a 33 that needs a service.
