  1. Cereal's expensive? Gawd... one of my main addictions in life is cereal... http://www.emptybowl.com is one of my favourite sites. I figured that fresh produce would be expensive... especially those bloody square watermelons... $150aud for one. :freak:
  2. wah, my hiragani/kanji reading is terrible, no idea what that means... I'll assume it means 'Get out, you damn gaijin!' Supermarkets... that's one thing I cannot wait for... shopping, the new food products, the drinks, the candy, the fast food, bento boxes. My stomach is almost as much in charge of me as the upper brain and lower brain.
  3. How are the older generation in the country to gaijin? Are they mistrusting, or are they like all old folk and welcoming and fuss over you? And what was the speaking jap phobia about? Just self-concious about speaking it? I was a bit like that... but I see my jap lecturer in my normal work day here at the uni, so we always greet each in nihon-ga and have a bit of a chat... Small side story... we were all chatting about anime one day, I brought in a usb drive with Macross Zero, Area 88 and a few others... in the break, one of the other students played a bit with the piano in the lecture room... the sensei came over, sat down and said 'I wonder if the fingers remember...' and belted out the entire Astroboy theme song... The amusing part is he's this dumpy quiet little guy, you wouldn't pick him for a musician...
  4. That's the gamble, isn't it? I'm not sure which I'd prefer, city or country. I live in a city of 70k pop now, so maybe the country wouldn't be a bad thing... although it'd be far less gaijin-friendly than the middle of Tokyo. On the plus side, rent in the country would be cheaper, I'd be forced to speak japanese more (I assume) and there'd be more open roads. I"m really looking forward to it, actually... the next 2 years of my life are going to be rather interesting... a year here, finishing off my degree and finishing up work, then off to Japan!
  5. http://www.rcs-japan.com Anyone ever heard of them?
  6. I can see where you're coming from, but I would suggest that it would involve some changing of code, and some process (manual or automatic) that might be more trouble than it's worth. Far easier to just enforce a 'you must have a pic of the item' policy.
  7. lol, go work being decisive there, SK.
  8. That's ten... Enrico, off you go.
  9. Beautiful timing, put me on the list as a definite (assuming, of course, that all technical stuff is easily resolvable. ) Only need one more and thats the ten.
  10. Damn those crazy japs and their crazy drug racing.
  11. Don't quote me as an authoritive source (look to SydneyKid for that), but beyond 260 duration, it becomes less and less streetable... you might be pushing it with those cams, but as per usual, YMMV.
  12. I dunno if it's a gaping hole, but personally I'd prefer to have that extra tolerance headroom on the rods, rather than getting to 340rwkw and wondering when something may or may not let go. Ability to rev slightly harder/faster Vs Peace of mind.
  13. Well, there's the paperclip icon at the moment, showing an attachment... although that doesn't show if they've pasted a url to an off-SAU site with photos.
  14. No, you're thinking of the timing belt. I honestly don't know what the 'correct' period for the fuel filter is, but considering I put (on average) 300-400 liters of fuel (that came from dirty underground tanks) per month into the engine (via a dirty fuel tank from the car), and they're so dirt cheap (pun intended) to buy, it doesn't hurt to change them regularly. Besides, a new filter will eliminate another suspect in tracking down problems.
  15. Oral, eh? *see previous comment*
  16. Hmmmmm.... I'm very certain that I'd try to have sex with the blue 33 if I was near it.
  17. Tosh, what's the go with that? Do you know of any doco on the personal import rules? Planning to move to japan in a year, would like to bring back something with me.
  18. Ummmmmmm... I can't remember, but they're in Labrador, gold coast... it's on the compliancy plate, I'll look when I go for a coke later. They have a very boring, uncool name though.
  19. Except when it's helladusty. Hey CK.
  20. Hi Trader33, welcome. To service your car, you'll want to: - Change the motor oil and oil filter... every 5,000kms. - Change your spark plugs... coppers, every 10k kms, iridiums, much longer. - Change your coolant fluid... erm... umm... I've changed mine twice for the 30k kms I've had my 33, so... every 10k kms? - Change your fuel filter. I get the mechanic to do this whenever I'm getting something else done... or you could do it yourself if you want, @ $15 for the filter... I'd do it at 10k km mark. Anyone want to add anything on? There's guides here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=35442
  21. OKay... not 10-20 per year... 2-3 per year, then? That's a shame... by the time I'm ready to do the move, I'll have just turned 30. Paperwork doesn't worry me, I've got a night job as a research lab supervisor at the uni I work for... the paperwork there kills several trees a night, Nova doesn't scare me.
  22. Mmmmmm... orange R32 rezzified.
  23. Hmmm... I personally wouldn't consider it dead money... it seems to be just another neccessary cost for car ownership in nippon. A side, yet related, question: what do motorbike owners do for parking? Do they have to get a parking space or can they fling the bike wherever they want?
