  1. Jish, I don't feel bad, I have a stockish car, and it got me fair and square. It just made me go do things like buy 3L engines.
  2. That handed my arse to me and left the ScibyLine with a permanent scar.
  3. You suck Jay. It seems I have a part time job now.
  4. Or just a hyperactive alcoholic who grins a lot.
  5. Very nice Joel... let us know how much the head work is costing.
  6. Got them already, don't need 'em, but thanks anyway Dave. Had a chat to my mechanic today (he does all the stuff I can't, or I'm too lazy to do. ), he reckons it'll be about $600-1000 to do the engine swap for me, but he said he'd let me come and work on it with them, to make sure it was done to the way I want, because he knows I'm a picky bastard.
  7. Maybe he should get "Viagra".
  8. Hah, suspension sorted. In roughly two weeks, the Scibyline will be surefooted and stable. *nod*
  9. Yeah, I will be. Hopefully I won't destroy anything that will divert funds away from the 3L or new suspension (Which I need more than the 3L). Probably only do about 5-6 runs and call it a day. I want a good idea of what it's capable of, not a destroyed Skyline.
  10. First car was mum's Mazda 808, which has now become mine again, because my car before the Skyline was a 1988 Suzuki Vitara: I gave that to the old girl because she couldn't afford to buy a new one... And the importing isn't annoying or hard. It's very straightfoward. The guy in Perth gave me a good checklist for the process, but yes, had to wait about 6-7 weeks from the moment the bank gave me the money to the moment I snapped the tail out on the first corner.
  11. No, it's done all by phone and internet. I rang him, after doing some research and hearing nothing but good, said "I want this", he said "No worries", the next morning, my mailbox was full of cars in the specs I requested, and so I picked and chose. I picked the one I've got now, won it at auction, then it got shipped over here, complianced and I went down to Gold Coast to pick it up. All I had to do was to pay for things and make sure paperwork got where it was going. Was good.
  12. There are importers, but opinions vary. I personally went through a guy in Perth.
  13. Not a car plate thing, but here's me and some friends standing in front of the fountain that was featured in the Matrix (think of the Woman in the Red Dress). L33tness. Less l33tness, but in the right job.
  14. Well, I mentioned them before, and now here's the photographic evidence!! Click on the image for the larger version. He's Ben, he's 18, and he's Gay. (Or maybe not. This next guy is the RU-016 guy. Totally pissfunny. If someone knows this guy (this photo was taken in Nov 2001), please tell him to get a haircut and a better car. Or at least a better bodykit. This is the tarago we had, doing 160kph (Filmed under controlled conditions). Yes, I was driving responsibly officer.
  15. Well, got some photos of my poor, long suffering RB30... sitting in a mate's shed, waiting patiently for me to throw money at it again. Photos are big, 200kb +. There's some surface rust as you can see, the joker i bought it off had it sitting in the back of an open shed. The story I've been given (and what I can piece together by reading and using my limited knowledge) is that it's a Series 2 R33 head on a Series 2 block, with a 1mm HKS copper headgasket, stock (nitrided, etc) balanced crank, stock rods, Wiseco pistons giving 8.3:1 compression. If anyone else can make anything else out of importance from the photos, or can confirm or deny what I've said it is, please feel free to make comment. I'm not a wealth of knowledge on engines, and frankly, I'm learning as I go here. I'm sure my mates are sick of my constant questions.
  16. Needs not-black wheels. It just looks like it's been spraypainted with a $5 can of Matt Black from Home Hardware like that.
  17. I believe I know Mark Skinner... he's a young fella with dreads... I think.
  18. Worst one I've seen was RU-016 on a shitty, crappy Celica with the most god-awful bodykit I've ever seen, steel 15" wheels, fake twin pipes and the driver was worse. A ratty little wogboi (no offence to non-ratty wogbois), with shoulder lenght, greasy hair, which had been badly died. He kinda ignored us, because "we" were 6 guys in a Tarago on a roadtrip from Bris to Syd, and he copped all our stress from being in a van for ten hours.
  19. Are they on a white EF falcon?
  20. That would suck ass.
  21. First off, your standard turbo will be fine at first. You'll need something smallish to run it in anyway. You can't just slap an engine together, dialup 20psi and start doing quarter runs. Things will break. I'm planning to use my standard turbo for the run-in period. The rest of the questions,
  22. Well, it's not *hard*, but if you've never done it before, you'll need some assistance. It's not just a case of taking off the wheels, undoing some nuts and yanking them out.
  23. Ahuh, well, there you go. Now I'll have to wait until I can get to my waiting engine (which is sitting in a shed on the other side of town) to see if it's a series 1 or 2... I want it in now. :~(
  24. OVL-747, thanks for the info on the water/oil points on the block... but which block is that for? Series 1 or 2?
