Trying to understand why a news presenter would be saying "I understood" after each sentence... ...although it is Japanese, and i gave up on trying to understand them... watashi wa nihon-jin wakarimasen yo.
-
Half drunk, maybe... I can't remember half the stuff I learnt in my jap intro course I did as part of my degree last year, but it was very good for getting mispronounciation out of the way... even if I don't understand it, there's lik a 99% chance I'll correctly pronounce something... if it's romanized.

I would definitely say so... a few reasons being: - Japanese is like *the* LOTE (languages other than english) course being taught these days - apparently started in the mid-80's when a boom of japanese investment happened in Australia... of course, kids who study it also want to visit it now. Same happened with my parents and French/France. - You can teach english over there, get paid fairly well and experience another culture, so of course, heaps of people want to do that. *waves hand and babbles "Me too, me too!"* - Interest in Japanese cars has of course increased interest in Japan itself... this forum is proof of that. - Japanese tourist visas are fairly trouble free to get, and the working visas not much beyond there... it's almost to the point where you flip Customs a fiver as you walk through the gate, to cover your visa fees... - Finally, popularity of things like Iron Chef, manga, anime, tentacle porn, all of these things add up... To summarize: Japanese culture becomes popular + semi-'open door' visas = lots of gaijin.

Maybe we should get Rezz to go buy some porn to review for us. I"m sure his wife won't mind...

Nah, it's real with penetration, etc... but you're not allowed to show female geitalia... http://www.tubgirl.com - Excellent example. DO NOT OPEN IF YOU'RE EASILY OFFENDED. Not in the slightest way work safe... but it seems to be the archtype of japanese thinking, imho. "A girl being rather gross is fine, but we can't show her pink bits!"

Do what travelling americans do - just speak english louder.

Hmmmm... strange hangover cures from bottles with kanji labels... *worry*

Pocari Steve eh? Mental image of some poor gaijin on a treadmill, being forced to sweat profusely. I do get sugar cravings... but I also get hypoglycaemia - get the shakes, dizziness, nausea if I don't have enough sugar in me... apparently I'm right down the other end of the scale of diabetes, producing too much insulin... weird, but there it is. Consequently, I don't have huge sugar highs when I hit the lollies/coke. I just... wake up.

Grow up, he says, while posting penis words in max size.

Hmm... personally I prefer fizzy drinks... get that whole "Ow, it hurts, but I like it!" thing happening. Hmm... questions, questions... can you get good mexican food over there? Is it jap-mexican hybrid food (ala, corn and mayo pizza), or is it decent food? How good is the vendor machine food? As you can tell, I haven't had lunch yet. Speaking of lunch, is it difficult to date japanese females when you're gaijin? I'm guessing there'd be a lot of 'coolness' in it for her, dating gaijin, etc...

lol... best description ever. The whole japanese wang thing is rather weird. It's terrifying how small they are, even on the so-called porn stars... makes me feel like a Super Power son of rajab of Sexz0r Lurve! Or just like a western porn star. Re, photos, you're a legend. It's bizarre... I've been so busy with studying and new changes in life (I'm now a network admin for a university res college, living on campus, etc), that I really haven't looked at anything japanese lately... I feel the urges for engrish, weird food and small asian women growing back.

Thanks IG... but alas, I've already read Yongfook's page... often had me crying at my desk, trying not to choke laughing... your'e dead right - very funny writer... and he's a skyline owner!

The whine is usual? Gawd... will have to interview potential gf's when I move over (finally)... "Do you whine during sex like you're having your pubes pulled out one by one, or do you make other noises? Whine? Oh, I'm sorry, you're just not what we're looking for in a sexual partner..." I can't stand that whine... sounds like they're in physical pain rather than enjoying themselves. *ahem* Rezz, not really a Q and A, and to be honest, I've been away from the jap forum for a while (yay for life and studying and moving house and so on getting in the road), so I don't know if you've done this, but I have a photo log challenge for you. I dunno if you eat much junkfood, but I'd be really interested to see photos of junk/fast food resturant menus... I'm guessing a lot would be fairly pictorial. Really curious to see how Japanese mangle intl fastfoods. http://www.****eyed.com/drivethru/drivethru.html - Here's some inspiration. Edit: Er... **** = c o c k

Since it's a QandA thread, I'll drag it kicking and screaming down into the gutter. Dear unky Rezz, Do japanese women really act like they do in the pornos when they have sex? Or is it one of those things, "Only in porn"? I'm referring to the "little girl whine" they do... I find it rather freaky. On a different note: does Japanese Coke taste different to Australian Coke? (Yes, I'm drinking a coke now).

Certainly... going out so much that I'll be in Brisbane.

Not sure it's purple, that r32 is more blue. Belongs to 'Dave', guy who works there.
-
... it falls apart in a cloud of smoke and dust. Yes, there are some guys around in Rocky. Sciby <- blue 33 that's usually covered in dirt, with the plates 75-SAE... the red R34 is a Sony promo car. http://www.autospeed.com.au/cms/A_1961/article.html Not sure why it's up here, but as it's still got its NSW 'xplode' plates, I can only assume it's up here on a loaner and not a personal purchase. I doubt Sony would part with those plates easily.

Where can I find insurance for my import?
Sciby replied to PranK's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hi Troy, You'd be hard pressed to get better for your age and that car... purely because of your age. Insurance companies use road statistics as their main benchmark, and they're never good for young drivers. I posted in another thread (that was based around arguments saying that young drivers are good/better than older drivers) that in 2003, the same amount of drivers 17-25 died on australian roads from car accidents, as did drivers aged 26-40... however, there's twice as many drivers aged 26-40 on the roads, so the percentages tell the story... sad but true. Just Cars is pretty good, and that's only $1k more than my quote (I'm 29, R33 GTS25t, regional area, garaged car), so you're doing pretty well, imho. Or you could buy an excel. -
No one here but us chickens...
-
Righto, cables received... thanks Al.... although I can't help but feel that there's not enough hose... what about the hoses that run from the front of the car to the rear calipers? I'm assuming they're rubber as well? Or are they metal piping? I"ve never looked... time to read up on ripping my brakes apart.

Suspension is toooooo firm
Sciby replied to HeathGTST's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Heh, it's not flak, per se, it's just contrary to my experience with Pedders springs being too soft for their given application. -

Sciby replied to HeathGTST's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Nah, bilsteins are great. I went from pedder springs and 'soft' dampers (KYB excel and Pedders 'Comfort' shocks - this combo wasn't good, it was like being in a boat, going over largish waves, which is why I suspect the springs were/are too soft... when the bilsteins went on, it tightened everything up, still not perfect, but much better. But no offence, RedRocket, but it makes no sense saying that his problem would be harsh pedders springs because yours on your 4wd are too harsh. Two different cars, different springs, rates, etc. -

Sciby replied to HeathGTST's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
HeathGTST, I've got the same setup as you - Pedders springs (Sports ryders) and Bilsteins - although I don't feel they're too hard, it's just that the whole setup is undersprung/overdamped... the effect can almost be as bad as too-hard springs, which I had when first got the car - it had hard-as-rocks Cusco gear in it. Going to get a quote for a set of King's lows, will post the quote in here when I get it. -
Like a drunken trucker redneck. "Ah'm gonna bust you up, boy... jap-style!"
