i used the body of the car but i lined the bottom of the boot with some foam, which you can get from clark rubber, just to fill it up abit.

yeh there is just enough room for the spare but its gonna be a bitch getting it out on the road with out damaging your subs and amp. your idea of carrying inflator cans is great. where can i get some?
