ye, in regards to what hippy is saying, im interested to know what all you other Auto R33 drivers rev to when you hit 60 km/h with the OD off. Im the same as hippy. With OD on its about 1600rpm but when OD is off it jumps to about 2600 RPM when hitting the 60 km/h mark. Would appreciate other auto guys confirming this. Cheers.

i see, thanks for that info mate. appreciate it. will goto bed a lil easier. Jus that this morning when i was driving to uni, the car somehow jus wouldnt go past 3000 revs even when i put my foot down. But i could see the boost meter work fine, it was as if the handbrake was on real tight or soemthing, but once i shut the car off and re started it, everything seemed fine. I thought maybe it was soemthing to do with the oil. But it all seems fine now.

Just on that, Is there anything wrong or can go wrong with putting thin oil (such as 5W) after having 10W and even 20W at previous services? apperntly it depends on how many clicks ur cars done. Mine has done like 80K's and i was thinking of putting 10W motul, but when i went to buy it, they didnt have any left and the guy at the store (autobarn) (who also apperntly has a skyline) suggested that there is nothing wrong with putting 5W motul. Anyways ive put it in and 2 weeks later the car is going better then ever before. But im still paranoid that im doing damage to the engine by putting sucha thin oil., when the guy who used to service my car put in 20W. (i did the service myself this time).

are all premium fuels the same??
dineth replied to taynewguy's topic in General Automotive Discussion
have to agree with most of the posts here, BP ultimate seems to be the best fuel to use on my R33. The car just seems to run smoother in general. The biggest thing i noticed was that because my cars auto, Ultimate seems to hodl the gears for longer, thus getting more revs b4 gears change. Optimax is not 2 far behind ultimate, but if i had a choice id alwasy go ultimate. Also have put in 8000 when i cant find a BP or a shell, again not much of a big difference. All 3 are very good (considering that aussie's get some of the shittest petrol in the western world). but i cant go past Ultimate for consistancy. -
Hey guys, jus changed my oil today and for the first time tried Motul 8100 after reading some threads on here. I must say, almost immideitly i noticed a huge difference. (i used to use penrite) The accelration, idle and 1st gear was so much smoother then ever before. Even though its a bit pricey (well compared to most of the shelf oils), i think its worth it cos a full tank of premium unleaded costs about the same amount as a 5L bottle of 8100. I dont think i wil put anything else but 8100 from now on. Anyways thats my 2c on how my R33 gtst goes on 8100.

Hey guys, As the topic says, this is a pretty stupid quesiton but im gonna ask it anyway. In my 25gtst (r33) its pretty much stock and i noticed when i took the top thing on my airbox off (so jus the panel filter and the air intake left) the car seem to 'suck' in more air. Howvere, a few people told me that this was not safe for the engine, but i was thinking, isnt hvaing a pod filter similar to this? anyways i need your opinions on wetaher its ok to run without the air box thing. (currently its still clipped on). cheers.

Steering ISSUES! plz HELP!

Bump! -
Hey guys, The other day i had a bit of a accident in the wet and hit a curb pretty hard and bent the lower right control arm at the rear and got it replaced with 2 brand new rear tyres and wheel allignment done. However the guys at the wheel allignment place said they could not straighten everything a 100% due to soemthing else (that they couldnt see) being bent. Now the steering is shocking. The wheel is like 10 degrees of centre when travelling straight. So when i let go of the steering wheel when traveling staright, the car shoots left. The other thing I also found was when i turn right the steering feels a lot 'heavier' then when i turn left. Im guessing soemthing is still seriously bent or damaged. My car is a S1 R33 Gts-t. The HICAS light works like normal and its not indicating anything is wrong. can anyone give me some advice on what it might be? keeping in mind that it was the rear left hand side that i hit hard. any help/advice would be much appreciated cheers.

thanks for all ur help guys, specially you greg. I actually jus got it done the other day. They charged me 230 for the control arm and 120 for labour the bastards! had to get 2 new tyres (+ wheel alignment) as well so set me back a good 1K. -
Just for anyone whos looking for a GTR or even a GTS-t as their first car, ive had my car sinc i was 17 im 20 now, (r33 gts-t) and i drive like a 100 k's everyday. i would consider myself a good driver and fairly well experinced now as well, but its amazing what happens when u have a powerful car how quickly things can go wrong. Just on friday night i was thinking about soemthing while driving on a road i drive everyday and it was a fairly straight road and it was pissing down, put the foot down jus a little, all off a sudden the back of the car went sideways, (something may have been on the road like oil or soemthing, all that shit rise to the top when it rains) stuggled to get control of it.. just missed a light phone, hit the curb and over to the on comming traffic. was very very scary. (and i was only going at like 70,) i still have flashbacks and how everything moves so slowly and u see ur life flash before you. even if your very experinced and alert, with a powerful car like a skylines, things can go wrong very quickly if u dont know what ur doing, i think if i hadnt had the experince to get even a little control of the car when it was spinning out of control, i would have hit a pole or oncomming traffic. I was very lucky to get away with a bent Lower control arm and 2 shredded tyres. Getting my car back on monday and i dont know how i will feel when i turn the key to start it. Just a quick msg to all them hoons (and lets face it there are a lot of them on skylines) All it takes is 100th of a second for soemthing to go horribely wrong. I was lucky. but i know from now on i will be even more carfeul.

Hey all, Unfortunetly, the otherday i lost control of my R33 and spun it and hit a curb and the rear left Lower control arm is badly bent (making the wheel bend into the car) i need to reaplace that and the 2 side tyres (ouch). was wondering how much a new if not 2nd hand Rear left control arm go for? Thanks, all replies would be much appreciated.

Edge: Well its sealed fairly flush, I wouldnt say its air sealed. But as good as the factory one (which was pretty much a weird sort of plastic that was carpeted) my partial shelf is exactly the same, just used mdf so it could hold the weight of the Amp. 95GTST Im pretty sure i just bought a single sheet of 9mm thick MDF from bunnings for like 10 bucks.

Ye man, you can buy it in rolls pretty much in any auto stores like autobarn or supa cheap auto etc. They cost anywhere between 12 bucks to 20. Its not really paper its more like a very thin peice of metal.

Hey guys, I just put in my amp and sub and it sounds pretty awsome. Jus how i wanted it, punchy bass without the whole car shaking. I guess the secret was using a decent sub and amp (i got a top of the range alpine head unit, Alpine splits and rears and now sub and amp) and the wiring i used was top quality as well (went a fusion wiring kit as the alpine kit was hard to find and also way 2 over priced) I set it up so i can easily take the sub out if i needed to use the boot. The amp was mounted on thin MDf bored with some checkerd paper on it. I used the original plastic nut holes, using metal nut and bolts to hold it all together. this way i can easily take it out if i needed to. My biggest problem was what sort of sub enclosure i should use. I ended up using a fully sealed box which i picked up from gary's car audio for 50 bucks. Big thank you to everyone who replied to my thread on what sort of sub enclosure i should use and also to NS2500 for his thread on how to take the headunit out. Saved a lot of time. Pics up Now.

Anyone have an Alpine CDA-9807 CD/Mp3 headunit?
dineth replied to paulr33's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
The MX button is only good when your listening to radio. If you turn your MX on when a good song goes on the radio, the bass that is lacking in a lot of Fm radio signals are kinda put back. Try it next time. But ye, with cd's or mp3's and so on, i never turn it on because the clariety drops and my alpine sounds like a sony headunit hehe -
Hey FHrx. thats the question i wanna know as well hehe sealed or ported. I was thinking of going sealed but u may have made me change my mind. i can spare the whole boot since i never put anything in there anyway hehe.

hey guys, Thanks for all ya replies so far. I think im leaning towards a fully enclosed sub box. My mate did his one and it sounds pretty good so i will get him to make me a box. he has some kinda fibre fill to insulate it as well. I love my clean bass rather than the "oomf oomf look at me" kinda bullshit. Anyways i also checked out the Alpine website and they got some info on it: ALPINE Type-S SWS-1241/D 12" Rec Volume for sealed box 35 litres @ 49Hz also adds: Sealed enclosure volume includes heavy layers of dacron or similar fibre 'fill' and allows for displcement of the woofer. This is internal volume of box to build for effective in-car performance (Qtc 0.58 - 0.82). Sealed box volumes can also be varied.

Hey guys, thanks for your replies so far. Well the sub is a Alpine type S sub (12 inch and the amp is a Alpine V power amp and has a RMS of 350 Watts. So its not 2 bad. I like punchy bass and i usually listen to R&b and Hip hop and a bit of house music. So what you guys reckon?
-
Hey guys, I jus got a Alpine v12 amp and 12 inch sub. Now i have a dilema. What do you guys would be the best set up for a R33. Like i want to know what would give out punchy bass; a fully sealed and boxed sub box or the standard type sub box (where you can see the sub). Space is not a issue for me cos there is nothing ever in my boot anyways. I am hearing conflicting views on what is the better type sub enclosure. I know with home theathre systems almost all are fully enclosed now days. Anyways i thought id put this question forward b4 i chose one next week. Your opinions will be much appreciated. Thanks guys.
